Dabo Swinney and the Tigers have had a long line of fantastic running backs during his tenure as Clemson’s head coach.
If you look at the position year by year, you’ll see stars. Some fly under the radar more than others, like Wayne Gallman, who was a beast in the Tigers’ backfield, and others continue to shine to this day, such as CJ Spiller, who is now Clemson’s running back coach. No matter how big the name is, it’s been a ridiculous run of running backs for the Tigers, who now have Phil Mafah leading the backfield.
Four-star running back David Eziomume hopes to be the next great Clemson running back, and Swinney loves what he sees from his young back. Swinney discussed a bit of what he’s seen from him after practice on Tuesday.
“Easy E (Eziomume), I will say, I’m super proud of him because he had the furthest to go from where he was in the spring,” Swinney said. “And man, he just looks like the game has really slowed down for him.”
“I’m proud of him. He’s just not making as many mistakes and he’s playing faster because he’s more confident in what he’s doing.”
There will be high expectations for Eziomume at Clemson.
