Seahawks DE Darrell Taylor screwed out of a fumble recovery

The officials are certainly making their presence felt at Lambeau Field today.

The officials are certainly making their presence felt at Lambeau Field today. In the first half, we’ve seen at least three egregious calls or non-calls go against the Seahawks already.

First, the refs changed the ball spot after Russell Wilson seemingly scrambled for a first down without any review or a challenge. Then, they ignored a blindside block by Allen Lazard on Ryan Neal. Now, they’ve screwed Darrell Taylor out of what looked like a clear fumble recovery.

Pete Carroll challenged the play but Green Bay maintained possession after the review.

Brad Allen and the Packers lead 3-0 going into halftime.

A look at the Seahawks player injury situation heading into Week 7

A look at the Seattle Seahawks player injury situation heading into the Week 7 contest against the New Orleans Saints set for Monday night.

Like most teams around the league, the Seattle Seahawks have a number of players battling injuries. Fortunately for Seattle, the team had an extra day to recover this week due to the Monday night schedule.

Coach Pete Carroll provided some player injury updates ahead of the Week 7 contest against the Saints.

Running back Alex Collins: “He’s going to practice today so that’s a good sign,” Carroll said. “He went through walkthrough today and looked okay. Really, a number of guys that got banged up a little bit in the game were able to go through the walkthrough today so we will see what we can get from them in a limited fashion in practice today. It is really encouraging in that regard.”

Guard Damien Lewis: “Let me just say this, all of these guys have to see what happens at practice and see how it feels afterwards but it’s really positive signs.

Defensive end Darrell Taylor: “Darrell Taylor won’t get much action today, but he feels really good,” Carroll explained. “He has a stiff neck, that’s what he came out with. After all of that we went through to protect him, it’s like he slept bad on his neck, and he has a stiff neck. He really feels like he’s playing, he doesn’t have any doubts that he’s playing so we will hold out hope that it is the case.”

Cornerback Sidney Jones: “He’s going to get a little bit of work today,” Carroll said. “He’s bouncing back a little ahead of schedule from where we thought so he will get some snaps in practice, and we will see what that means.”

The final injury report of the week will be issued after Saturday’s walkthrough.

After injury scare, Darrell Taylor may have a chance to play Week 7

Following an injury scare on the field in Pittsburgh, Seahawks DE Darrell Taylor may have a chance to play Week 7 against the Saints.

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Darrell Taylor was down on the field for nearly 15 minutes before he was carted off the field Sunday night in Pittsburgh. The scare was that Taylor had sustained a significant neck injury during the Week 6 contest.

Less than 24 hours later, coach Pete Carroll had nothing but good news to share Monday afternoon.

“His MRI stuff was clear, his CAT scan stuff was clear, and he does not have a neck injury,” Carroll told reporters. “He got jammed pretty good so we have to see what it’s like, but it may be more in his shoulder as we figure it out. He’s not out of the woods of playing this week so that’s a thrilling response to what it looked like and what everybody could have anticipated. We will see how it goes and he has to have a good week to do that.”

Taylor, and the rest of the Seahawks squad, have an extra day to recuperate this week as their next game isn’t scheduled until Monday night when they’ll host the Saints at Lumen Field.

“We will see what happens, but it was a really good report,” Carroll continued. “I know a lot of people were upset about that, for good reason, whenever they take a guy off like that, the threat is huge. Anyway, he came out great, so we will hope for the best and he may have a chance to go this week.”

Pete Carroll updates Seahawks’ injuries following loss to Steelers

Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll provided a number of player injury updates following the Week 6 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Seattle Seahawks lost a heartbreaker in overtime Sunday night, falling to the Pittsburgh Steelers 23-20 Week 6. Seattle also suffered a number of injuries during the game, most notably to defensive end Darrell Taylor, who was carted off the field with a neck scare in the fourth quarter.

Coach Pete Carroll provided a positive update during his Monday morning radio hit on 710 ESPN Seattle.

“He really did get a great report on his CT scan that he was clear and all of that,” Carroll said of Taylor. “He’s got more tests to do just to double-check and triple-check and make sure he’s OK – MRIs and stuff today – but the initial return is that he didn’t have any major damage at all.”

In addition to Taylor, running back Alex Collins also left the contest early and was unable to return due to hip and glute injuries.

“He got hit a couple times, he had a couple big hits that he took, but the reports we’re getting – we’ll see a couple of days from now,” Carroll said. “He got banged around, but he’s not out of next week. We’ve got to see how he handles it.”

Finally, guard Damien Lewis suffered an AC sprain in his shoulder.

“He’s got a sore shoulder,” Carroll explained. “He hurt his shoulder a little bit, and we’ll have to wait and see. He’s really tough, and he’ll shrug it off if he can, but he’s pretty sore today.”
