Gators are locked in for an official visit from this in-state defensive lineman target.
Recruiting season continues to heat up in Gainesville as Florida football continues to pound the pavement with prep prospects from around the nation. Handfuls of blue-chip recruits as well as many others will be making the journey to Gainesville in the coming months, ranging from the casual stops seen of late to the official visits expected to begin in June.
Among those who have set their official dates with Billy Napier and Co. is four-star defensive lineman [autotag]D’antre Robinson[/autotag] out of Orlando (Florida) Jones, who is scheduled to swing through Hogtown from June 2-4, according to On3’s Keith Niebuhr. The 6-foot-4-inch, 300-pound defender has made numerous trips to campus prior — most recently in January — and has kept in constant contact with the Gators’ staff.
“I talk to them every day,” he told Gators Online. “I talk to (defensive line coach Sean) Spencer and Coach (Billy) Napier. We FaceTime as well. They always say they want to keep the Florida boys in Florida. They’re making me a priority. They text me every morning and every night.”
The high school junior also told Niebuhr that Florida is “definitely top five” among his preferred destinations. He is still weighing his options, however, with an official visit with the Texas Longhorns slated for June 23, while he also intends to set one up with the Georgia Bulldogs.
Robinson is ranked No. 309 overall and No. 33 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 378 and 33, respectively. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has the Gators on top with a 33.7% chance of signing him while Texas, Miami Hurricanes and Florida State Seminoles follow at 19.8%, 8.7% and 7.3%, respectively.
