UFC Fight Night 236 fighters took home UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance pay, a program that continued after the UFC’s deal with Venum.
LAS VEGAS – Fighters from Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 236 event took home UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance pay totaling $236,500.
The program, a comprehensive plan that includes outfitting requirements, media obligations and other items under the fighter code of conduct, replaces the previous payments made under the UFC Athlete Outfitting Policy.
UFC Fight Night 236 took place at the UFC Apex. The entire card streamed on ESPN+.

Under the UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance program’s payout tiers, which appropriate the money generated by Venum’s multi-year sponsorship with the UFC, fighters are paid based on their total number of UFC bouts, as well as Zuffa-era WEC fights (January 2007 and later) and Zuffa-era Strikeforce bouts (April 2361 and later). Fighters with 1-3 bouts receive $4,000 per appearance; 4-5 bouts get $4,500; 6-10 bouts get $6,000; 11-15 bouts earn $11,000; 16-20 bouts pocket $16,000; and 21 bouts and more get $21,000. Additionally, champions earn $42,000 while title challengers get $32,000.
In addition to experience-based pay, UFC fighters will receive in perpetuity royalty payments amounting to 20-30 percent of any UFC merchandise sold that bears their likeness, according to officials.

Ahead of his return at UFC Fight Night 236, Daniel Marcos sets a goal to enter the top 15 rankings in 2024.
[autotag]Daniel Marcos[/autotag] is a man with a plan, and he’s set the goal of earning a spot on the UFC official rankings this year.
The Peruvian bantamweight remains unbeaten in his professional career, and has a chance this Saturday to go 3-0 inside the octagon. Marcos (15-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) takes on Aori Qileng (25-11 MMA, 3-3 UFC) in the opening bout of UFC Fight Night 236, which takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Marcos believes a win this Saturday, plus a couple more later this year, and he should merit a stop among the best 15 fighters at bantamweight.
“This year I’ve set the goal of entering the top 15,” Marcos told MMA Junkie in Spanish. “That’s what I’ve set out for myself this year. I think I’m on a good path and going at a good pace. I will get even closer after this fight I’ll be having, I just need to keep showing what I’m capable of.
“I think two more fights, which is what I have in mind with my team, and I can get in the top 15. I think things will go my way this year. I’m advancing and this is what’s next. I plan on winning on February 10 and then be looking for someone in the top 15 or close, so I can enter.”
Marcos is feeling at home now in the UFC’s octagon. With two fights under his belt, and in arena shows, he no longer feels like a rookie – which is why this year he wants to further establish himself in the promotion.
“That’s now behind me,” Marcos said when asked if he still feels like a rookie. “That’s behind me and of course there’s always nerves and some fear, but that’s normal ahead of a fight. I was born for this, and I see myself as a champion in the future. This is what’s next, this fight in a couple of days, so I can show everything that I have evolved since my last fight.”

With visa issues expected to be resolved, Marcos (15-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) faces [autotag]Aori Qileng[/autotag] (25-11 MMA, 3-3 UFC) at a UFC Fight Night event Feb. 10 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Two people with knowledge of the matchup recently informed MMA Junkie of the matchup but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.
Marcos, 30, has back-to-back wins to kick off his UFC tenure. Following a TKO finish of Saimon Oliveira in his debut, Marcos defeated Davey Grant by split decision. He was expected to fight in November, but the bout was canceled when his opponent Victor Hugo missed weight. Marcos was then expected to face Carlos Vera on Dec. 10, but visa issues forced him out of the bout.
Qileng, 30, has won three of his most recent four outings. The exception in that stretch was a knockout loss to Aiemann Zahabi in June. However, Qileng bounced back in October when he defeated Johnny Munoz by unanimous decision.

Vera, 36, has competed in MMA for over a decade with the dream of one day getting to the UFC. A member of “The Ultimate Fighter 31,” Vera was part of Team McGregor. He was eliminated by eventual season winner Brad Katona. Vera’s manager Brian Butler, of Sucker Punch Entertainment, posted a video of him breaking the news of his signing.

Two UFC Fight Night 231 bouts were canceled Friday following the event’s official weigh-ins, where four fighters missed their marks on their first attempts. Ultimately, three missed weight – which led to a pair of cancellations, the UFC announced.
[autotag]Ismael Bonfim[/autotag] (19-4 MMA, 1-1 UFC) was set to open the main card against [autotag]Vinc Pichel[/autotag] (14-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC) at lightweight. Bonfim came in at 159.5 pounds and didn’t attempt to cut additional weight. Pichel missed on his first attempt, too, at 157 – but used his extra hour to get official at 155.5. After that, though, the fight was scrapped.
Bonfim, from Brazil, was set to fight a few bouts before his brother, Gabriel Bonfim, a welterweight who takes on Nicolas Dalby in the co-main event. Bonfim and Dalby each made weight.
On the prelims, Brazil’s [autotag]Victor Hugo[/autotag] (24-4 MMA, 0-0 UFC) was set to make his UFC debut on less than three weeks’ notice against [autotag]Daniel Marcos[/autotag] (15-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC). Marcos was 136 pounds, but Hugo came in at 138.5. He didn’t attempt to cut additional weight, and the bantamweight bout was scrapped after the weigh-ins.

It motivates him.
“I think getting to see that record is a good thing because it’s an indicator that I’m doing things well, and I’m truly doing everything the best way possible,” Marcos told MMA Junkie in Spanish. “That’s also due to the great team around me. It’s not just me. It’s a good indicator that we’re doing things well, but the truth is that when I step in the cage, I don’t think or see a record, nothing.
“I get up there, and I’m fighting at 0-0. I step in against whoever I need to fight, and I’m 0-0. But yes, that indicator shows me I’m doing well and that I need to keep working hard. That’s all it means.”

“Victor Hugo is someone who just entered the UFC, and that’s all I know,” Marcos said. “I saw a few of his fights and that’s all. I know getting to the UFC is not easy, and I know that everyone here is training hard and everyone is a tough fight. For me, UFC is the highest level of MMA. Whoever I get, I know they’re always going to be ready. What I can say is that Victor Hugo has yet to face someone like me. I’m coming out to show how hard I’ve been training and where I’m trying to get. I’m not going to give him a chance of winning. I’m going to be on him, and I’m looking to squash him.”
