Notre Dame football loses another 2025 commit, its second of the week

The Irish are having a bad recruiting week

The bad news regarding Notre Dame Fighting Irish football’s 2025 recruiting class continued on Thursday evening.

Earlier in the week, the Irish saw its only quarterback commit, [autotag]Deuce Knight[/autotag], flip his verbal and end up closer to home with the Auburn Tigers. While this move was expected, running back [autotag]Daniel Anderson[/autotag]’s decision on Thursday night to also leave the class was much more of a shock.

The 5-foot, 11-inch and 200-pound Arkansas native had committed to the Irish over year ago, in late September of 2023. It’s odd that Anderson came to this conclusion, as his social media has been very favorable for the Irish.

The nation’s No. 582 overall recruit according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings had not announced any new offers since his final high school season began, so an immediate flip isn’t likely in the cards. With Anderson leaving the class, it leaves Notre Dame with just one commit at the position, [autotag]Justin Thurman[/autotag].

Meet Notre Dame’s Top Ranked 2025 Recruiting Class

What must the Irish still add to make this class great?

It’s early in the 2025 recruiting cycle still but recruiting for Notre Dame tends to play out a lot like a quote from New York Yankees legend Yogi Berra:

“It’s getting late early out there.”

When it comes to football recruiting Notre Dame is a team that tends to start hot and then usually have to hold on to secure a high ranking.  They’re rarely if ever a program that soars up the rankings late in the process.

That’s why it’s so important that Notre Dame gets off to hot starts in recruiting and that is something they’ve certainly done to date with the 2025 recruiting class.

Notre Dame now has 16 commitments in the class which gives them the top ranking according to both 247Sports and Rivals.

Below are the currently committed 16 members of Notre Dame’s 2025 recruiting class and a little about each player.

Please note: Prospects are listed according to their public commitment dates

Scout’s view: Notre Dame 2025 running back commit Daniel Anderson

Another big time back heading to South Bend

[autotag]Notre Dame football[/autotag] didn’t get a win on the field this past weekend, but they won plenty off it.

Not only did they put on a great environment in front of a rowdy crowd and television audience, the coaching staff impressed recruits on campus which led to three verbal commitments in the 2025 class.

One of them was Arkansas running back [autotag]Daniel Anderson[/autotag], who was in the house for the game Saturday night, committing to the Irish prior to the start. The junior running back doesn’t have a national ranking at the moment, it’s still very early in the class.

What I can tell you about is his skill set, which is impressive after watching his sophomore tape, not much junior film has been shared. Find out below what to expect from Anderson when he arrives in South Bend.

Notre Dame football adds 2025 running back ahead of Ohio State contest

Fireworks already in South Bend

[autotag]Notre Dame football[/autotag] is not only trying to win the game on the field this weekend, but on the recruiting trail as well.

Even though we won’t know the results on the field until much later this evening, we do know what the recruiting part is going extremely well. The Irish hosted Arkansas 2025 running back [autotag]Daniel Anderson[/autotag] on an unofficial visit, but he has made up his mind, committing to Notre Dame ahead of the big game.

Anderson stands 5-foot, 11-inches and weighs 195-pounds, is ranked as the No. 30 running back and 317th overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Although he also had an offer from Tennessee along with a few smaller schools, Anderson decided to shut down the process and commit to the Irish. He is now the fourth verbal commit for Notre Dame in the 2025 class.

Arkansas 2025 running back offered a scholarship by Notre Dame

Watch his recruitment blow up

Arkansas running back [autotag]Daniel Anderson[/autotag] arrived at [autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag]’s Irish Invasion camp with just one scholarship offer from Rhode Island.

That all changed on Sunday afternoon as Anderson went home with a Notre Dame offer. It’s one that many didn’t see coming, especially considering that the 6-foot and 195 pound back is a relative unknown to the recruiting community.

Anderson impressed the Irish staff, including head coach [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag], and was offered on the spot. He has yet to be ranked due to flying under the radar, but undoubtably more schools and scouts will have eyes on him after his performance on Sunday.
