In 44 days, Kalen DeBoer will usher in a new era of Alabama Crimson Tide football, replacing the legendary [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] as head coach in Tuscaloosa.

Coach DeBoer and the Crimson Tide will take on the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers on Aug. 31 to kick off the 2024 college football season inside Bryant-Denny Stadium.

At Roll Tide Wire, we will count down the days until Alabama football takes the field.

With 44 days remaining, we look at rising junior defensive lineman Damon Payne Jr. who wears No. 44 for the Crimson Tide.

5 Alabama players who could emerge in the Rose Bowl

Roll Tide Wire takes a look at five players that could emerge for Alabama in this year’s Rose Bowl against Michigan.

Over the years, Alabama has had several players come from being “under the radar” to making an immediate impact. One player that comes to mind is former five-star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. The Hawaii native was called on in the biggest game of his life and made a residual impact that will forever be remembered.

Now, the tables have turned and it could be someone else’s turn to have a residing effect on this year’s Rose Bowl game against Michigan. Who will it be?

Roll Tide Wire takes a closer look at five Alabama players who could emerge in the Rose Bowl this season.

BREAKING: Alabama lands commitment No. 20 for 2021

Alabama landed commitment No. 20 for the 2021 class on Saturday morning in defensive tackle Tim Keenan, a 3-star prospect out of Birmingham.

Alabama held on to the No. 1 ranking in the 2021 recruiting class for a short period of time, but the Ohio State Buckeyes managed to take it back with a recent commitment from defensive tackle Tyleik Williams.

Well, the Crimson Tide matched on Saturday morning with a commitment from another interior defensive lineman. Tim Keenan, a three-star defensive tackle from Birmingham (Ala.), made his announcement to join Alabama’s 2021 class.

The 6-foot-2, 330-pounder out of Ramsay High School is commitment No. 20 for the Crimson Tide. He joins a strong defensive line class for Nick Saban and company, joining the following prospects:

Keenan is rated as the nation’s No. 362 overall player, No. 22 defensive tackle and No. 9 player from the state of Alabama, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

He is the fourth in-state player to commit to the Crimson Tide, tying the state of Alabama with Texas for the second-most commitments — the state of Florida currently has five players committed to Alabama.

It will be interesting to see where this lands Alabama’s class in relation to Ohio State’s, so keep a close eye on those recruiting rankings today.

BREAKING: Alabama lands fourth 5-star prospect for 2021

Five-star defensive tackle Damon Payne out of Michigan announced on Sunday that he was committing to the Alabama.

Nick Saban and the rest of the Alabama staff continues to do great work on the recruiting trail. At the start of June, the Crimson Tide only had two top 100 prospects in its 2021 class committed.

With the addition of five-star defensive tackle Damon Payne, who committed on Sunday, Alabama now has seven top 100 prospects to go along with several other high-profile players.

The news of Payne’s came live on CBS Sports HQ, but several took to Twitter to announce the news as well:

This is a much-needed boost to the Tide’s defensive front after showing off one of the top offensive line groups for 2021. In the SEC, games are won and lost in the trenches, and that’s exactly what Alabama is targeting right now.

According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Payne is rated as the nation’s No. 14 overall player, No. 1 defensive tackle and No. 1 player from the state of Michigan.

With his commitment, Alabama now has a total of 16 commitments for this upcoming class. That group includes four five-stars, nine four-stars and three three-stars. It ranks as the No. 2 class in the country, trailing only the Ohio State Buckeyes.
