Dalton Bargo discusses returning to Omaha to play in the College World Series.

Tennessee sophomore Dalton Bargo hit two home runs in the Vols’, 12-1, win against Evansville on Sunday to advance to the College World Series.

The College World Series will be contested June 14-24 at Charles Schwab Field Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska.

Bargo is a native of Omaha and discussed what it means for him to play in the College World Series.

“It means everything to me,” Bargo said. “Ever since I was six years old, I’ve been going to games. It’s been a dream of mine to go since I was a little kid. Being a part of a team and being one of the reasons we are going back to Omaha is everything I could ever ask for. I’m just thankful for the opportunities I’ve been given and made the most of them.”

Transfer Dalton Bargo will get at-bats for Tennessee in 2024

Tony Vitello discusses how transfer Dalton Bargo will get at-bats for Tennessee in 2024.

Missouri transfer catcher Dalton Bargo announced his commitment to Tennessee on July 6, 2023.

Bargo appeared in 50 games, including 45 starts, for the Tigers in 2023 as a freshman. He recorded a .279 batting average, five home runs, 23 RBIs, 25 runs, six doubles, three triples and 19 walks at Missouri.

Tennessee head coach Tony Vitello discussed Bargo and how he will contribute this season.

“Dalton Bargo has kind of gotten over that, I’m new, I need to find my way, or I want to impress everybody,” Vitello said. “Whatever was going on, he had self-admittedly said, he just wasn’t himself at the start and then ended the fall on a really hot streak, and the one ace in the hole he has is, he knows what the league looks like. He knows what college baseball looks like, he knows being in the starting lineup, so that’ll play to his advantage and he’s got a little sense of determination to him that he didn’t have in the fall too.

“All things combined, he’s gonna be a guy who gets at-bats for us, probably plays behind the plate in the infield and in the outfield, which will be fun. I like that stuff, and he certainly is a blue collar, just tell me where to go coach, type of guy. I think we’ll have a lot of different ways we benefit from him being around, and the cool thing about him, I could go back to that sequence, he’s just getting started and it’s his second year of school, and he’s just getting started.”
