Is AJ Brown playing today? Injury news update for Eagles wide receiver

Here’s the latest status for the Eagles’ AJ Brown for Week 10 against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Eagles’ passing game has relied a great deal on one A.J. Brown over the last several seasons. In 2022, Brown 88 passes for 1,496 yards while scoring 11 touchdowns. He followed that up with 106 receptions in 2023, again approaching 1,500 receiving yards and adding another seven scores.

Things have not been that smooth for Brown thus far in 2024, and injuries are to blame. After missing four games early in the season with a hamstring injury, Brown has returned to diminishing returns. And then last week, Brown exited the club’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars with a knee injury he didn’t return from.

Will he be able to play against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 10?

The answer appears to be yes. Brown was limited in practice on Wednesday but has been a full participant both Thursday and Friday and surprisingly carries no injury designation into the game.

All signs look like Brown will get another shot at playing against the Cowboys’ Trevon Diggs. The two did not get to face off against each other last season, as Diggs tore his ACL too early in the season to see Brown in Week 9 or Week 14. Back in 2022, Brown had 11 receptions on 16 targets in two contests against Diggs and company. Those 11 catches were good for 170 yards and a score.

Is CeeDee Lamb playing today? Injury news update for Cowboys wide receiver

Here’s the latest status for the Cowboys’ CeeDee Lamb for Week 10 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Dallas Cowboys suffered a catastrophic injury last week, when quarterback Dak Prescott’s left hamstring gave out on him against the Atlanta Falcons. Midway through the third quarter, Dallas lost their franchise signal caller, an injury that’s expected to leave an already lackluster passing game worse off.

The only thing that’s worked on any kind of regular basis has been throwing to All-Pro receiver CeeDee Lamb, and that was seen to be in jeopardy with the way Lamb suffered through the Week 9 loss himself. Lamb struggled to return to his feet on several pass completions, favoring his shoulder to a great degree. He left the game for a while, but was able to return to try and help a comeback they couldn’t complete.

Lamb had been limited in practice the first two days of the week, but returned to full participation status on Friday, receiving a relatively clean bill of health. Lamb was not given a game injury designation despite the shoulder issue.

Related: Cowboys missing almost 50% of their salary cap from Week 10 lineup

Lamb caught seven passes last week, but for only 47 yards, as he was kept out of the end zone until a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter.

Over the past three games, Lamb has 28 receptions, but without Prescott throwing him the ball it’s difficult to project how well he’ll be able to catch balls from backups.

For what it’s worth, Lamb has had a couple nice games with Cooper Rush under center in the past. In 2022 Week 3, he caught eight of 12 targets from Rush for 87 yards and a score. He followed that up with 6 for 97 and a score in Week 4.

For fantasy purposes, Lamb is far too talented to ever take out the lineup, even with the Cowboys’ passing offense struggling.

Is Micah Parsons playing today? Injury news update for Cowboys edge rusher

Here’s the latest status for the Cowboys’ Micah Parsons for Week 9 vs the Atlanta Falcons.

The Cowboys are now sitting two games under ,500, at 3-5 on the 2024 season, losers of three games in a row. The team hasn’t seen the victory column in over a month, the win against the Justin Fields-led Pittsburgh Steelers seems another lifetime ago when there was still hope things could work out.

One of the things that’s been hoped for has been improved health, and now it seems that cannot come without trading some away in return. The Cowboys have struggled to create a pass rush all season, but that became much worse once the team lost Micah Parsons to a high ankle sprain against the New York Giants in a Week 4 win. They’ve now been without the three-time All-Pro for four straight contests, but will things change in Week 10?

It appears they will. Parsons was given the game designation of Questionable, but after practicing all week and not seeming to have suffered a setback, all signs put to one of the NFL’s best defenders returning.

Parsons has a great matchup to return to as well, with the Philadelphia Eagles missing their left tackle Jordan Mailata and instead trotting out Fred Jones.  The drop off in talent level there is severe and works in the Cowboys’ favor who hope to be able to stabilize a defense that hasn’t done enough in 2024.

The Cowboys are returning to AT&T Stadium this weekend, where they are 0-3 on the season.

With DeMarcus Lawrence and Marshawn Kneeland both on returnable IR, along with the season-ending preseason loss of Sam Williams, the pass rush has lacked significant punch, made worse by the free agent defections of Dorance Armstrong and Dante Fowler in the offseason.

Is Dak Prescott playing today? Injury news update for Cowboys quarterback

Here’s the latest status for the Cowboys’ Dak Prescott for Week 10 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Dallas Cowboys have spent the last month trying to figure things out, to no avail. The way the 2024 season has played out for them, it’s probably customary for them to assume the worst while hoping for the best. Well, the best has decided to take a break and keep sending the worst.

After their third straight defeat, 27-21 in Week 9 at the hands of the Atlanta Falcons, the Cowboys sit with a 3-5 record and not much hope in sight. Dallas is in the middle of a crucial five-game stretch against the NFC’s best teams and they have not acquitted themselves well. In Test No. 4 they host the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 10 and their quarterback situation is unideal.

That’s because Dak Prescott suffered a hamstring injury during the third quarter of last week’s loss. On top of numerous other injuries the team has had to fight through in 2024, they now move forward without their field general. Prescott has been ruled out of the contest.

Not only that, but it’s expected that Prescott is going to undergo season-ending surgery soon.

It is expected that Cooper Rush will step in and play for Prescott this week against the Eagles.  The last time Rush played against Philadelphia was in 2022, in his fifth and final game as Prescott’s replacement. Now he will start in the first post-Prescott game of 2024.

Prescott had been averaging 241 passing yards a game and had a career-worst 3.8% touchdown rate, against a 2.8% interception rate.  After signing a $240 million contract extension in the offseason, Prescott and the Cowboys have floundered on offense this season.

Cowboys vs Eagles Final Injury Report: Prescott, Bland statuses confirmed, Parsons questionable

The final game designations for both the Eagles and Cowboys ahead of Week 10. The latest on Parsons, Prescott, Hurts and Brown. | From @KDDrummondNFL

The Dallas Cowboys have finalized their preparations for their Week 10 matchup with the rival Philadelphia Eagles. All that’s left is a Saturday walkthough and a wait until kickoff on Sunday. But with the conclusion of the practices, comes the final injury report of the week, and it’s filled with bad news; expected, but bad.

Quarterback Dak Prescott has officially been ruled out, as has cornerback DaRon Bland. Prescott’s hamstring injury suffered in the Week 9 loss to the Atlanta Falcons is expected to keep him out for multiple weeks, so the bigger surprise is that he still hasn’t been placed on injured reserve. Bland’s status is the bigger question mark, as he continues to miss practice with a foot that apparently was re-injured when he was so close to returning weeks ago.

As for the Eagles, they seem ridiculously healthy as the week closes out, despite the controversy over Jalen Hurts’ status earlier in the week. With only one player having an injury status, things seem great for 6-2 Philadelphia.

Here’s a complete rundown.

Wednesday Rest Days: QB Jalen Hurts, RB Saquon Barkley

Did Eagles lie about a Jalen Hurts injury ahead of clash with Cowboys?

From @ToddBrock24f7: HC Nick Sirianni had a confusing exchange with reporters Friday where he may have revealed a previously undisclosed injury to their QB.

Even in a season when both teams are playing below their standard, the Cowboys and Eagles always bring a little extra juice when they face off.

Trash talk and bulletin-board quotes are common in the days leading up to the next installment of the rivalry. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni even let his wardrobe do the smack-slinging back in 2018.

This year, though, it appears he may have crossed the line from motivational tactics and strategic gamesmanship to flat-out lying about the health of one of his star players ahead of Sunday’s matchup in Arlington.

Sirianni had a head-scratching exchange with the Philadelphia media on Friday regarding quarterback Jalen Hurts, who had been listed as “limited” on the first practice report of the week.

Sirianni was asked about it, and things got confusing in a hurry.

“Yeah, you know, he’s dealing with the– it was on the injury report– dealing with the ankle,” Sirianni began. “Just making sure we’re precautious [sic] with everything.”

Except that’s not what was on the injury report.

“Rest” had been the official reason given for Hurts’s limited participationon Wednesday, not an ankle injury. Though a day off for “load management” is common for many veteran players- including several Cowboys- it was apparently rare for Hurts to have received the classification, prompting the original inquiry.

After a stunned and awkward silence to Sirianni’s answer, several Philadelphia media members followed up at once, with one finally reminding the coach that Hurts wasn’t listed with an ankle issue.

Sirianni was asked to confirm: “I’m sorry. Jalen Hurts: it was an ankle injury?”

“What’s that?” Sirianni asked, looking off to the side to a team PR representative.

That individual answered, “It was a rest.”

And Sirianni’s story suddenly changed.

“It was a rest, yeah. Yeah,” the coach offered before continuing, “Sorry, I thought you were talking about somebody else. All right.”

It was even more thoroughly unconvincing to those in the room than it reads in a transcript.

Despite Sirianni’s attempt to quickly move on, the media pressed.

“Is Jalen dealing with an ankle problem, then?”

“Unh-unh,” Sirianni said with a showy shake of the head and a smirky grin, to the laughter of the assembled reporters.

“No. Rest,” he said with extra emphasis.

It certainly seemed as though Sirianni was more forthcoming with his original answer than perhaps the team meant for him to be and then tried to walk it back in order to stick to the agreed-upon version.

The Athletic‘s Eagles beat writer Brooks Kubena posted on X shortly thereafter that Hurts was warming up on a separate field from the team’s other quarterbacks, Kenny Pickett and Tanner McKee.

A few minutes later, though, Hurts was seen taking a snap, dropping back, and following through on a throw. He did not appear to be hobbled in the eight-second video clip posted by NBC reporter Dave Zangaro.

Hurts was listed as a full participant on Thursday’s report as well as Friday’s. But ESPN’s Tim McManus notes that, according to his league source, Hurts has, in fact, been dealing with a mild ankle issue “for a couple weeks.”

[affiliatewidget_smgtolocal]

The quarterback has rushed for 322 yards in eight games this season, averaging 3.7 yards per carry. Of his eight rushing touchdowns in 2024, six have come over the last three weeks.

He tried to laugh it off in the moment, but Sirianni’s apparent slip-up on Friday could invite a league investigation. If the team is found to have violated the NFL’s clearly-stated policy by withholding a bona fide injury (even minor), there could be fines or other punishment meted out.

In any case, it sounds as if Hurts may not be 100% heading into Sunday’s clash with the Cowboys.

And in this rivalry, any little edge could loom large for either team.

Another Cowboys starter ‘very limited’ in practice ahead of divisional clash

From @ToddBrock24f7: Tyler Guyton sat out 1 series in Atlanta with a neck injury; now it’s threatening to sideline him for Sunday’s tilt with the Eagles.

Halloween may feel like it was eons ago, but things are still downright scary for the Cowboys roster as they head into a divisional tilt this weekend looking like a veritable skeleton crew.

To be sure, the latest news from along the offensive line could end being more trick than treat for a backup quarterback already getting his first start in over two years.

Rookie left tackle Tyler Guyton is dealing with a neck/shoulder injury, said Mike McCarthy on Friday. The Cowboys head coach called Guyton “very limited” in practice, having taken just “minimal reps” in the day’s walkthrough session.

“He’s fighting through it,” McCarthy added.

That does not sound overwhelmingly encouraging when forecasting his status for Sunday’s game versus the Philadelphia Eagles.

Guyton apparently suffered the injury during the first half of last week’s loss to Atlanta. Second-year man Asim Richards took over for him to start the second half, and although the first-round draft pick returned for the offense’s next possession, the issue was apparently serious enough to keep the 23-year-old officially listed as “limited” on both Wednesday and Thursday of this week. (Friday’s report had not yet been released as of this writing.)

The team will already be without starting quarterback Dak Prescott. Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is less than 100% with the lingering aftereffects of an AC shoulder sprain, Brandin Cooks is still on injured reserve, and right guard Zack Martin missed two days of work earlier this week with a shoulder injury of his own.

[affiliatewidget_smgtolocal]

(While McCarthy said that Martin “did everything in the [Friday] walkthrough,” it is not yet decided if he’ll be able to go on Sunday. T.J. Bass would be the likely replacement if Martin cannot suit up.)

Backup quarterback Cooper Rush could indeed be seeing a lot of familiar faces from the second team in the Cowboys’ huddle come gametime.

Richards was a fifth-round draft pick last year out of North Carolina. He played on a total of 39 offensive snaps as a rookie and another 23 so far this season.

Guyton has been in on over 77% of the offense’s snaps through eight games, but he leads the team in enforced penalties (and is tied for second-most in the league) with nine.

Cowboys’ All-Pro OL misses second straight day of practice with injury

From @ToddBrock24f7: Zack Martin was questionable in Week 9. His shoulder and “a couple things” sidelined him Wednesday and Thursday leading into Week 10.

Cowboys guard Zack Martin missed practice on Thursday, marking the second straight DNP day for the nine-time Pro Bowler and perhaps putting his status for this Sunday’s matchup with the Eagles in question.

According to ESPN’s Todd Archer, Martin was not working with the team during the portion of practice that was open to media members.

The 33-year-old has frequently been given Wednesdays off as a veteran’s rest day, but there looks to be more going on with the right guard this week. Earlier in the day, when asked about Martin’s overall performance this season, Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said that the seven-time first-team All-Pro “has had a couple things he’s been dealing with.”

A shoulder injury had Martin limited for portions of last week. He was listed as questionable for the Week 9 game in Atlanta, but went on to play every offensive snap in the 27-21 loss. So far this season, the Notre Dame product- in the final year of his contract- has played 519 out of 553 offensive snaps, fourth-most on the team.

It’s been a down year, at least by Martin’s usual measure. PFF currently has him ranked 41st among the NFL’s guards with an overall grade of 64.6. His 64.2 pass-block grade puts him in 38th place, while his run-block grade of 60.2 drops him all the way out of the top 50.

[affiliatewidget_smgtolocal]

Offensive line play across the board has been spotty this year in Dallas, sharing at least some of the blame for a woeful 82 rushing yards-per-game average that has the team ranked next to last and allowing nearly three sacks per game.

Friday will likely be an important day to determining Martin’s readiness for Week 10 versus Philadelphia. Second-year lineman T.J. Bass is listed on the Cowboys’ official depth chart as Martin’s backup.

Cowboys vs Eagles Initial Injury Report: Parsons working, Bland, Lamb updates

A look at who was able to participate in practice on Wednesday, ahead of Cowboys-Eagles, and to what degree. | From @KDDrummondNFL

The Cowboys initial injury report of Week 10 came out on Wednesdaym, and there’s finally some good news, even if it’s too little too late to save the 2024 season. Micah Parsons is finally back practicing, after being sidelined since suffering a high ankle sprain in Week 4’s win over the New York Giants. The Cowboys won that week and the following week in Pittsburgh, but have lost three in a row.

In all three games Dallas has trailed big, blown out by Detroit and late comebacks against San Francisco and Atlanta having more to do with their relaxation than anything the Cowboys had figured out. So now, with the Philadelphia Eagles on deck for Week 10, getting Parsons back would be a great thing. Unfortunately, it’s tethered to the loss of their offensive leader Dak Prescott.

Prescott received his first “Did Not Participate” of the 2024 season, after tearing the tendon from the bone on his hamstring. He’s holding out hope to return within the month but the writing is on the wall a trip to IR seems inevitable.

Hamstrings are an issue on the Eagles side as well as WR DeVonta Smith missed their practice with his own. Here’s a look at the really full rundown of each squad for the first practice ahead of the rivalry game.

Vegas doesn’t think the Cowboys will beat the Eagles in Week 10

The Cowboys are home underdogs against the Eagles after not winning a game at AT&T Stadium in 2024. Not just the season, the entire calendar. | From @KDDrummondNFL

The Dallas Cowboys find themselves two games under .500 for the first time since 2000. And just like that year, Dallas may be trying to dig their way out from under without Dak Prescott under center. The ninth-year QB injured his hamstring in the Cowboys’ Week 9 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, and the expediency of ruling his return out of the question could be an indication that he’s not going to be returning in time for their next showdown.

That just happens to be a return to AT&T Stadium for their first run in with division rival Philadelphia. The Eagles enter the game in stride, winners of four games in a row to sit 6-2, a half game behind surprise NFC East leader Washington. The Cowboys are 3-5 and feeling fortunate the New York Giants exist.

Mix it all together and there aren’t many reasons for the Vegas sharps to have much confidence in the Cowboys earning their first home win since December 30, 2023. The Cowboys open as 6.5-point underdogs in Week 10, according to BetMGM.

Any fan feeling super comfortable about things can wager on the moneyline, which sits at +280 for a Dallas home win, and -350 to bet on the Eagles winning outright.

The over/under is set to 44.5. At this point, it will be interesting to see how much, if at all, the line shifts as Prescott’s status for the game becomes more certain as the week progresses.
