Fantasy football: Commanders RB Brian Robinson Jr. one of Week 9’s best plays

Brian Robinson could be in store for a big game in Week 9.

When setting up your fantasy lineups for Week 9, whether you play full-season fantasy or weekly fantasy, Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. should be on your radar.

Players like Saquon Barkley and Christian McCaffrey (when healthy) receive all the headlines, other quality backs fall off the radar in fantasy. Robinson is one such example.

Robinson is battling a knee injury, but it shouldn’t keep him out of Sunday’s game. After all, Robinson loves playing New York. Robinson averages 83 rushing yards per contest in five career games against the Giants and 5.5 yards per attempt. Also, the Commanders have one of the NFL’s top three rushing offenses, while the Giants have a bottom-five run defense.

NFL.com’s fantasy preview for Week 9 believes Robinson is one of 10 players who will outperform his projected numbers:

One of the easier benchmarks for a player’s projected performance against an opponent is his previous performance against that same team. Robinson had 17 carries for 133 yards against the Giants in Week 2. He totaled 14.6 fantasy points without even finding the end zone. With that in mind, it’s hard to imagine why he’d be projected for just 11.8 points in the rematch.

Moreover, Robinson’s particular strength — rushing inside the tackles — is one of New York’s biggest weaknesses. According to Next Gen Stats, his +67 rush yards over expected on such runs is the fifth-most in the NFL, while Big Blue’s +163 inside rush yards allowed is the most of any defense. It’s a match made in heaven, making Robinson a surefire RB2 (at worst).

The Commanders successfully ran against the Giants in Week 2, and don’t expect that to change on Sunday. If you own Robinson, he’s a must-start on Sunday. If you play Daily Fantasy, add him now.

Browns vs. Texans daily fantasy football projections

Browns vs. Texans daily fantasy football projections

The Houston Texans (2-6) are traveling to the great state of Ohio to take on the Cleveland Browns (5-3) this Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. Along with this game having AFC playoff implications, there is still money to be made on the fantasy side of things. Here are the top choices at each position.

All prices based on DraftKings

Quarterback: Deshaun Watson- $6,900

Watson has the opportunity to be a top five scorer at his position this weekend. Despite having a less than ideal start to 2020, Watson has been on fire recently. He’s scored at least 24 fantasy points in each of his last four contests, landing him in the top ten for each of those weeks. With Cleveland allowing their opponents to average a whopping 68.1 plays per game and the total set high at 54, it is safe to assume one of these quarterbacks is going to benefit. It should be Watson with an offense more reliant on throwing the rock. Projection – 24 points

Running Back: Kareem Hunt – $6,700

Hunt has the potential to be a top-five scoring back this week even with Nick Chubb entering the fold. He has not lived up to expectations in Chubb’s absence only gaining a high of 86 rushing yards and 26 receiving yards during the last two games, but the Houston run defense is borderline pathetic allowing 1,159 rushing yards, which is the most in the NFL. That is a ton of yards and that leads the NFL even with them already having their bye week. Projection- 24 points

Wide Receiver: Will Fuller V – $6,700

We talked about Watson being the better option at quarterback, so it only makes sense to include his number one option as the best receiver. Fuller has top 15 scoring potential for his position and has appeared to knock off his feast or famine reputation as he has been a top-36 receiver in seven of the last eight games and even top-15 in three of his last five outings. The Browns haven’t exactly been shutdown either as they have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points per game for wide receivers. Projection- 20 points

Tight End: Austin Hooper – $3,900

It is not unrealistic for Hooper to be a top ten tight end this week after returning from an appendectomy that resulted in two missed games. Few have benefited from the bye week like Hooper as his target share percentage was steadily rising the last few weeks before the injury. His target share has gone from 5% to 17% to 23% to 27% and now he gets to face Houston who has allowed the eight highest catch rate to tight ends at 73.6% and the ninth- highest yards per target at 7.92 yards. Projection- 10 points

Daily Fantasy: The one 49ers player you need to start in Week 3 on DraftKings

There’s one 49ers player you need to start in Week 3 on DraftKings.

The one San Francisco 49ers player that your need to start in Week 3 on DraftKings is RB Jeff Wilson Jr.

The running backs weren’t spared from the Week 2 injury carnage that relentlessly struck the 49ers. Both Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman suffered knee injuries that are expected to keep them out of the upcoming Week 3 tilt with the New York Giants. San Francisco is currently down to just two healthy running backs on the 53-man roster: Wilson and Jerrick McKinnon.

Wilson had just two attempts for three yards in Week 2. Meanwhile, McKinnon looked like his explosive self, notching three carries for 77 yards and a touchdown. So why would you start Wilson over McKinnon?

There is a growing sect of the 49ers beat writers who believe that McKinnon will cede starting work to Wilson. Look back at the success he had in the first two weeks of 2019, with 18 attempts for 52 yards and two touchdowns.

San Francisco will face an 0-2 Giants team in Week 3 that has allowed 276 yards on 62 attempts, which comes out to a 4.5 yard per attempt average. They haven’t allowed a rushing touchdown on the season so far, but it’s only a matter of time before they surrender one when they’re giving up 4.5 yards per carry. New York also struggled to stop Chicago Bears running back David Montgomery through the air last week, catching three passes on three targets for 45 yards and a touchdown.

At $4,000 cost on DraftKings, Wilson is one of the best value plays in the entire NFL this week. There’s upside for a big performance in Week 3 and he would be a great play in the flex as you spend cash elsewhere on premium players.

Daily Fantasy: The one Browns player you need to start in Week 3 on DraftKings

With the Washington’s pass protection not up to par, the Cleveland Browns defense and a special team is a must-start in Week 3 on DraftKings.

The Cleveland Browns are looking to build on their Week 2 success and the key to keeping the good vibes going is a Washington offense that is allowing a pressure rate of 28% on offense, something that should allow Myles Garrett and the Browns defense to feast in the Sunday matchup.

The Cleveland defense and special teams are the best Browns to start in Week 3 on DraftKings. The Washington Football team has allowed a sack on 9.9 percent of their passing plays so far this season, the third-highest mark in the NFL, and that was before losing Pro Bowl guard Brandon Scherff to injury.

After playing well in spurts against the vaunted Ravens offense, Cleveland will face a more inexperienced offense in Washington, that’s still working to develop continuity and an identity outside of Terry McLaurin.

For their part, the Browns have recorded a pressure on 28.6 percent of opposing dropbacks (No. 6 in the NFL), and with the Cleveland offense starting to find an identity with their two head monster at running back, the home team could find an early rhythm that forces The Football Team to turn into a one-dimensional passing offense.

That would allow Myles Garrett, Sheldon Richardson, and Larry Ogunjobi to pressure Dwayne Haskins, causing errant throws or much-needed sacks.
