Former LSU coach Ed Orgeron spotted at Ragin’ Cajuns’ scrimmage

Orgeron’s son, Parker, is an offensive assistant for UL.

Former LSU coach [autotag]Ed Orgeron[/autotag] may not have a gig this fall, but that hasn’t kept him away from the game.

Orgeron attended a Notre Dame practice in April with his sons, as well as a Miami camp earlier this summer. He was spotted on the sidelines once again on Saturday, this time closer to home.

Coach O made an appearance at the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns’ first fall scrimmage. His son, Parker, is currently an offensive analyst working with tight ends on new coach Michael Desormeaux’s staff.

Desormeaux told the Lafayette Daily Advertiser that Orgeron had also visited the team in the spring and simply came to check things out.

Orgeron was the head coach of the Tigers from 2016-21, initially taking over as the interim for the fired [autotag]Les Miles[/autotag] before earning the job full-time.

He orchestrated one of the best seasons in college football history in 2019, when the Tigers captured a national title in a perfect season that ultimately produced the Heisman Trophy winner and No. 1 overall NFL draft pick in [autotag]Joe Burrow[/autotag]. However, the Tigers regressed in the two years that followed, and Orgeron went just 11-11 in his final 22 games.

Orgeron is 61, and it’s unclear if he wants to return to coaching. However, he can’t seem to stay off the sidelines even though he won’t have a coaching position for the first time since 2014 this fall.

Top 2023 quarterback Arch Manning plans to visit LSU

Arch Manning Watch continues as the No. 1 recruit said he plans to visit Baton Rouge this fall.

LSU continues to stay in the mix for Isidore Newman (New Orleans) quarterback [autotag]Arch Manning[/autotag] — the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2023 class — and the Tigers got some good news on Monday night.

According to a report from the Lafayette Daily Advertiser’s Koki Riley, Manning intends to take an official visit to LSU at some point this fall and hope to catch a game at Death Valley.

“Coach (Brian) Kelly knows how to win … he’s won everywhere he goes pretty much,” Manning said. “I have a former teammate, Bo (Bordelon), so he’s going up there this summer and I want to check him out, see how he does in practice and I’ll probably go up there for a game.”

Manning also said he plans to visit Florida at some point in the future. He has already taken visits to Georgia, Alabama and Texas in the past.

The nephew of NFL legends Peyton and Eli, Manning threw for 1,913 yards and 26 touchdowns last season to go with six touchdowns on the ground. Due to his prominence, he’s being recruited nationally by nearly every top program in the country, but LSU will look to reap the benefit of being the in-state school and land one of the top quarterback prospects in recent years.

Media projection says LSU basketball will make the Sweet 16

This media outlet has high hopes for LSU basketball…

Adam Hunsucker of the Daily Advertiser released some bold predictions for LSU basketball before the season gets underway.

The boldest prediction? LSU is going to make Sweet 16.

Hunsucker’s reasons are that the NCAA case surrounding the program will stretch all the way into the postseason, posing no threat to the Tiger’s postseason hopes and that the style of basketball Will Wade likes to play is not a fun matchup for opposing teams. “LSU is the only team to finish in the top four of the SEC in each of the past three seasons, so Wade has earned some benefit of the doubt,” Hunsucker said.

Personally, what I love about the past few LSU squads to hit the court is the athleticism. Building chemistry around a ground of guys that can run the floor, jump out of the gym, and be physical when they need to be on the defensive end is crucial for a deep March Madness run. I’m looking forward to watching this team develop over the course of non-conference play, which starts tonight.
