Golden State Warriors and San Francisco 49ers swap uniforms in latest crossover jersey concept

While we wait for the NBA and NFL to return, the Golden State Warriors and San Francisco 49ers got a uniform crossover swap via Digitalize.

Over the past several seasons, fans of Bay Area sports teams have enjoyed a bounty of success. From the Oakland A’s and San Francisco Giants making runs at the playoffs to the Golden State Warriors competing in five consecutive Finals, there has been a lot of winning in the Bay Area.

When the Warriors suffered a down season in 2019-20, their new San Francisco neighbors took a trip to the Super Bowl. After drafting second overall in 2019, Kyle Shanahan’s San Francisco 49ers made a run from worst to first in the NFC West. The 49ers blitzed through the playoffs before facing off with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Cheifs.

Although the 49ers lost Super Bowl LIV to the Cheifs, the team provided fireworks in the Bay Area while Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson were dealing with injuries.

As the sports world waits for the NBA to return and the start of NFL training camp to begin, Digitalize provided a look at what the 49ers and Warriors would look like if they traded jerseys and colorways. Graphic designer Jordan Fortin Belanger designed uniforms with Jimmy Garoppolo wearing blue and yellow and Curry donning red and white.

While the NBA season has been on hold, updated jersey concepts have been popular across the internet. Along with the 49ers crossover and a new set of Golden Gate Bridge uniforms, the Warriors have received superhero and Disney themed makeovers.

Watch: Steph Curry, Marquese Chriss and others working out individually at practice facility

Although their season is over, Steph Curry, Marquese Chriss, Jordan Poole, Damion Lee and Juan Toscano-Anderson are busy working out at Golden State’s practice facility.

While 22-teams are preparing to return to training camp for the restart of the 2019-20 NBA campaign, the Golden State Warriors season is over. With the league’s worst record, the Warriors are one of eight teams staying on the outside of the league’s Orlando bubble.

Despite their season coming to a close, the Warriors are staying busy to start their early offseason. With their San Francisco practice facility reopening its doors, players are returning to the floor for individual work.

The Golden State Warriors Twitter account shared a video of a group of players working out at the Chase Center practice facility. Stephen Curry, Jordan Poole, Damion Lee, Marquese Chriss and Juan Toscano-Anderson were spotted getting shots up.

Via @warriors on Twitter:

Although the Warriors are just training individually at the moment, it’s vital for Curry to be on the court with his new teammates. The two-time Most Valuable Player was held to only a handful of games due to injuries. Outside of Lee, Curry had limited playing time with Golden State’s newcomers like Chriss, Poole and Toscano-Anderson. Curry can use the early offseason to familiarize himself with the new cast of Warriors.

Draft Rewind: Warriors select Davidson’s Stephen Curry in 2009 first round

On June 25, 2009, the Golden State Warriors changed the future of their franchise when they drafted Stephen Curry with the No. 7 overall pick.

Although they won’t be taking a trip to the NBA playoffs or preparing for another Finals appearance, there is still one important event approaching the Golden State Warriors. For the first time in years, the Warriors will have the opportunity to make a selection in the NBA draft’s first five picks.

With Golden State’s season over, and no basketball on the calendar yet, Warriors Wire is rewinding back through the history of the Warriors. Memorable moments, matchups worthy of a rewatch and standout performances have been the primary focus of Warriors Rewind. However, with the draft approaching, Warriors Wire is highlighting some of Golden State’s best draft day selections.

In 2007, the Golden State Warriors drafted a player that changed the state of basketball in the Bay Area.

June 25, 2007

The 2007 edition of the NBA draft kicked off with Los Angeles Clippers selecting Oklahoma’s Blake Griffin. The Memphis Grizzlies picked Connecticut’s Hasheem Thabeet and Oklahoma City followed by taking James Harden. Fast forward to the No. 5 overall selection, and the Minnesota Timberwolves were on the clock.

In an unprecedented move, the Timberwolves selected back-to-back point guard prospects. However, neither of them were a point guard from Davidson.

Minnesota landed with Spain’s Ricky Rubio and Syracuse’s Jonny Flynn. With the Warriors on the clock, Golden State general manager Larry Riley selected Stephen Curry with the No. 7 overall pick.

Coming off a blistering performance in the NCAA tournament, Curry averaged 28.6 points on 45.4% shooting from the field in his junior season at Davidson. The point guard prospect added 5.6 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game. Over his career with the Wildcats, Curry netted 41.7% from beyond the arc.

With eyes for Curry and New York next on the clock, Knicks fans in attendance filled Madison Square Garden with boos after NBA commissioner David Stern announced Golden State’s choice.

Watch the moment the Golden State Warriors drafted Curry via YouTube:

After starting out his career averaging 17.5 points on 46.2% shooting with 5.9 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game in his rookie season — the rest is history. Championships, Most Valuable Player awards and a flurry of 3-pointers all started with Golden State’s franchise-altering selection in 2009.

Steph Curry joins Dr. Clarence B. Jones and Jennifer Azzi for ‘The Dream Marches On’ conversation

On Juneteenth, Stephen Curry joined Dr. Clarence Jones and Jennifer Azzi for USF’s “The Dream Marches On” conversation.

On Juneteenth, Stephen Curry joined Dr. Clarence B. Jones and Jennifer Azzi for the University of San Francisco’s “The Dream Marches On” conversation. In an hourlong virtual Zoom webinar, the trio spoke about the Black Lives Matter movement, social justice, activism and the power of education.

Dr. Jones, a close friend and attorney of Dr. Martin Luther King, helped draft the iconic “I Have a Dream” speech King delivered during the 1963 March on Washington. Dr. Jones currently serves as Director of USF’s Institute for Nonviolence and Social Justice.

The conversation featured Dr. Jones sharing memories from his experience along with Curry and Azzi’s reactions to the protests in the wake of the deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor.

Through his family foundation Eat. Learn. Play., Curry pledged to match every dollar raised for USF’s Institute for Nonviolence and Social Justice during the month of June, up to $50,000. Jones thanked Curry for his work off the court and for the donation made to USF’s institute.

I want the record to reflect that over and above the initial personal admiration I developed when I met him some time ago — Steph, I’m speaking to you and your wife now you’re just here, you’re representing — I’m speaking to both of you. I’m saying, with the most profound gratitude and admiration for the support you’ve not only given to Oakland, but you’ve given specifically to the institute which I try to head as carrying on the legacy of Dr. King. So as I said, I want the record to publicly reflect, and everybody that hear me publicly thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Alongside an image on Instagram of Stephen Curry laying up a shot over Hakeem Olajuwon, Mars Reel asked, “How good would Steph be if he had played in the ’90s?”

Although the Golden State Warriors aren’t heading to Orlando for the NBA restart, Stephen Curry is back in the practice facility working out.

With the NBA’s worst record, the Warriors won’t be competing in the league’s 22-team restart in Orlando. Although they won’t participate in the stretch run of the season, their practice facility is back open for business.

After a three-month closure due to the coronavirus pandemic, San Francisco’s Chase Center has opened its doors for individual player workouts. On Wednesday, the Warriors shared a video montage of Stephen Curry going through a shooting routine at Chase Center’s practice court.
