Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Chicago Cubs (39-45) finish their 3-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers (49-34) Sunday at American Family Field. First pitch is scheduled for 2:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Cubs vs. Brewers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Brewers lead 5-4

The Brewers and Cubs may be on the opposite sides of the NL Central standings, but against each other the series is much closer.

After a 4-2 win for the Brewers in Game 1, the Cubs came back to  win 5-3 on Saturday. The Cubs bats came alive on Saturday as every starter except C Tomas Nido reached base. A 2-run HR by LF Ian Happ was the difference.

Cubs at Brewers projected starters

RHP Kyle Hendricks vs. RHP Freddy Peralta

Hendricks (1-5, 6.87 ERA) makes his 10th start, and 15th appearance. He has a 1.49 WHIP, 2.7 BB/9 and 6.7 K/9 in 57 2/3 IP.

  • Last start: Loss, 7 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 1 BB, 4 K in 5-1 road loss vs. the San Francisco Giants Tuesday
  • 2024 road splits: 0-3, 7.50 ERA (30 IP, 25 ER), 1.46 WHIP, 5.1 K/9 in 7 games (5 starts).
  • Career vs. Brewers: 10-8, 3.54 ERA (196 IP, 77 ER), 1.15 WHIP, 7.9 K/9 in 35 games (34 starts).

Peralta (5-4, 4.03 ERA) makes his 17th start. He has a 1.17 WHIP, 3.2 BB/9 and 11.6 K/9 in 87 IP.

  • Last start: Loss, 5 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, 2 BB, 6 K in 6-3 home win against the Texas Rangers Monday
  • 2024 home splits: 2-1, 4.74 ERA (38 IP, 20 ER), 1.10 WHIP, 12.3 K/9 in 7 games.
  • Career vs. Cubs: 5-2, 3.34 ERA (70 IP, 26 ER), 1.17 WHIP, 13 K/9 in 17 games (12 starts).

Cubs at Brewers picks and predictions

Prediction

Brewers 8, Cubs 3

Moneyline

After a loss, the Brewers have been able to bounce back the following game, winning 60.6% of the time (20-13). And the Cubs, who haven’t won often, struggle to build off of their success. They post a 34.2% win rate after a win (13-25).

But at the current price it is best to PASS and look to the run line.

Run line/Against the spread

After a win the Cubs have the worst record in baseball against the spread. They cover just 31.6% of the time (12-26). I like the Brewers at plus money to bounce back.

LEAN BREWERS -1.5 (+120).

Over/Under

Milwaukee has the 2nd-best Over record at home this year (22-13-4). On top of that, Peralta has a higher ERA at home (4.74) than he does on the road (3.49). The sportsbooks are expecting a higher scoring game and I agree.

BET OVER 8 (-120).

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Milwaukee Brewers (49-33) welcome the Chicago Cubs (38-45) to American Family Field Saturday for the 2nd of a 3-game series. First pitch is set for 4:10 p.m. ET (FS1). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Cubs vs. Brewers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Brewers lead 5-3

The Brewers, who are one of the best home teams in MLB with a 26-12 record, beat the Cubs to open this series 4-2 with all the game’s runs coming in the 4th inning. Milwaukee has won 5 straight games, covering in all 5 as well. They have also won 9 of their last 13 games. Against the spread (ATS), the Brewers are 45-37 this season.

The Cubs, who dropped to 16-27 on the road with the Friday’s defeat, have lost 4 of their last 5 games, all away from Wrigley Field. They are just 2-6 over their last 8 as well. The Cubs have been underdogs in their last 4 games and are the 10th-worst team in the MLB at 19-27 straight up as underdogs. Chicago is 38-45 ATS on the season. The Cubs are led in HRs (15) and RBIs (45) by 3B Christopher Morel.

Cubs at Brewers projected starters

LHP Justin Steele vs. RHP Tobias Myers

Steele (0-3, 3.08 ERA) makes his 12th start. He has a 1.06 WHIP, 2.2 BB/9 and 9.1 K/9 through 64 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: No-decision, 7 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 6 H, 1 BB, 9 K in 5-4 loss at San Francisco Giants Monday
  • 2024 away splits: 0-1, 2.50 ERA (36 IP, 10 ER), 0.92 WHIP, 5 HR, 9.5 K/9 in 6 starts
  • Career vs. Brewers: 2-2, 2.00 ERA (67 1/3 IP, 17 ER), 1.13 WHIP, 10.3 K/9 in 14 appearances (12 starts)

Myers (5-2, 3.12 ERA) makes his 11th start and 12th appearance. He has a 1.12 WHIP, 2.8 BB/9 and 7.8 K/9 through 52 innings.

  • Last start: Win, 5 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 0 BB, 3 K in a 6-2 victory at San Diego Padres Sunday
  • 2024 home splits: 1-0, 5.12 ERA (19 1/3 IP, 11 ER), 1.24 WHIP, 5 HR, 8.8 K/9 in 4 starts
  • Career vs. Cubs: 0-1, 12.00 ERA (3 IP, 4 ER), 2.33 WHIP, 6.0 K/9 in 1 start this season

Cubs at Brewers picks and predictions

Prediction

Brewers 5, Cubs 4

Moneyline

BET BREWERS (-108).

While Myers is in his 1st season in the majors, the Brewers have played well behind him, winning his last 5 starts. He has allowed just 2 earned runs in his last 4 starts. Milwaukee is 7-4 in his 11 appearances and is 3-1 in his 4 home starts. The Brewers are 28-20 following a win as well.

Chicago is just 19-18 as a favorite, which ranks in the bottom half of the league. The Cubs have been one of the worst road teams in MLB this season as well. Despite Steele being a strong weapon for Chicago, it is 2-9 in his 11 starts. Considering those trends, BET BREWERS (-108).

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

The Brewers +1.5 (-182) as run-line underdogs are far too expensive to take here. Similarly, the Cubs -1.5 (+150) aren’t worth a play as risky run-line favorites, especially considering their road struggles.

Over/Under

BET OVER 8.5 (-122).

Both teams were bottled up against elite starting pitchers Friday, and they should bounce back Saturday. The Brewers have tallied at least 6 runs in 3 of their last 5 games and are 44-34-4 O/U on the season.

They have gone Over in 6 of their last 8 games as well. The Cubs are 2-3 O/U in their last 5 yet have allowed at least 4 in 5 of their last 6.

Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Milwaukee Brewers (48-33) welcome the Chicago Cubs (38-44) to American Family Field Friday for the 1st game of a 3-game series. First pitch is set for 8:10 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Cubs vs. Brewers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Brewers lead 4-3

The Brewers have won 4 in a row, sweeping the Texas Rangers in their last series that ended with a 6-5 home victory Wednesday. Milwaukee has 1 of the best home records in the MLB at 25-12. It is 8-4 over its last 12 and is 45-36 against the spread (ATS).

The Cubs have struggled on the road this season and are 16-26 in away games. Chicago has lost 4 of its last 5 games, including 3 of 4 at the San Francisco Giants. The Cubs won the finale 5-3 though Thursday. They are 38-44 ATS on the season.

Cubs at Brewers projected starters

RHP Jameson Taillon vs. RHP Colin Rea

Taillon (4-3, 2.90 ERA) makes his 13th start. He has a 1.27 WHIP, 2.1 BB/9 and 7.0 K/9 in 68 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: Win, 7 IP, 1 ER, 6 H, 0 BB, 10 K in an 8-1 home win over the New York Mets Saturday
  • 2024 away splits: 0-1, 2.79 ERA (29 IP, 9 ER), 1.28 WHIP, 3 HR, 4.7 K/9 in 5 starts
  • Career vs. Brewers: 2-1, 4.91 ERA (25 2/3 IP, 14 ER), 1.36 WHIP, 8.4 K/9 in 5 starts

Rea (6-2, 3.62 ERA) makes his 14th start. He has a 1.24 WHIP, 2.9 BB/9 and 5.9 K/9 in 82 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 5 1/3 IP, 5 ER, 6 H, 2 BB, 0 K in a 9-5 road loss to the San Diego Padres Friday
  • 2024 home splits: 4-1, 2.76 ERA (42 1/3 IP, 13 ER), 0.97 WHIP, 7 HR, 6.8 K/9 in 7 starts
  • Career vs. Cubs: 0-0, 2.93 ERA (15 1/3 IP, 5 ER), 1.24 WHIP, 8.2 K/9 in 3 starts

  • Run line (RL)/Against the spread (ATS): Cubs +1.5 (-178) | Brewers -1.5 (+146)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 8.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Cubs at Brewers picks and predictions

Prediction

Brewers 4, Cubs 3

Moneyline

BET BREWERS (-136).

Rea at home has been almost unbeatable. He has started 7 games at home and the Brewers have won 6 of those and he has allowing 4 runs or fewer in 5 of those. Milwaukee has the 4th-best win rate at home as well as having a 27-20 record following a win.

Meanwhile, while Taillon has been a strong option for Chicago, the Cubs haven’t performed well on the road. As a road underdog, the Cubs are just 11-21. Considering the trends for both sides and the value here, back BREWERS (-136).

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

The Brewers as a run-line favorite have some value, but the preferred route to play this game is on the moneyline. The Cubs weakness on the road and expensive value as a run-line underdog make them unplayable.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 8.5 (-110).

The Brewers have scored 5 or fewer in 3 of their last 6 games. While they have been more prone towards the Over, Rea has gone Under in 2 of his last 3 starts.

As for the Cubs, Taillon has gone Under in 3 straight starts, and the Cubs are 2-4 O/U in their last 6. Chicago has scored 3 or fewer in 3 of its last 5. It is 35-44-3 O/U on the season.

Given those trends, back UNDER 8.5 (-110).

The Milwaukee Brewers (32-23) and Chicago Cubs (28-28) play the finale of a 4-game set Thursday at American Family Field Thursday. First pitch is set for 1:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Cubs vs. Brewers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tied 3-3

The Cubs have lost 6 of their last 7, including Wednesday’s 10-6 setback as -141 road favorites. They lost the opener of this series 5-1 but won 6-3 Tuesday. SP Shota Imanaga picked up his loss of the season with Thursday’s defeat. The Cubs are 28-28 against the spread (ATS) on the season and 13-17 straight up on the road.

The Brewers, who moved to 14-10 at home with the Wednesday’s victory, have won 4 of their last 6 games. They have scored at least 5 runs in the 4 victories. Milwaukee has won 4 of its last 5 at home, and it is 17-14 straight up following a win. The Brewers are 32-23 ATS on the season.

Cubs at Brewers projected starters

RHP Jameson Taillon vs. RHP Colin Rea

Taillon (3-2, 2.58 ERA) makes his 8th start. He has a 1.28 WHIP, 2.6 BB/9 and 5.9 K/9 through 38 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: No-decision, 5 2/3 IP, 3 ER, 9 H, 1 BB, 3 K in 7-6 loss at St. Louis Cardinals Saturday

Cubs at Brewers picks and predictions

Prediction

Brewers 4, Cubs 3

Moneyline

BET BREWERS (-118).

Milwaukee has been solid at home and is one of the best teams in the MLB in its division. It has the 6th-best win rate in divisional games at 15-8. The Cubs, on the other hand, are 6-9 in NL Central battles.

The Brewers have won outright in 4 of Rea’s last 6 starts as well. While Taillon is a strong option for Chicago, the Cubs have lost 3 straight games in which he has started.

Considering those trends, back BREWERS (-118).

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

The Cubs -1.5 (+150) as favorites here, especially how they’ve played with Taillon on the mound as of late, is too risky — having to win by at least 2 runs. Meanwhile, the Brewers +1.5 (-182) as home underdogs is far too expensive with the -182 juice.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 8 (-102).

Both teams have trended Under as of late. The Brewers have scored 3 or fewer in 2 of their last 4 games and are 2-5 O/U in their last 7.

The Cubs are a similar story and have gone Under in 5 of their last 9. They are 24-30-2 O/U on the season. Both teams should have strong options on the mound as well with each pitcher having clocked a sub-4.00 ERA to start the season.

Back UNDER 8 (-102).

Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Milwaukee Brewers (31-23) welcome the Chicago Cubs (28-27) to American Family Field Wednesday. First pitch in the 3rd game of the 4-game series is set for 7:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Cubs vs. Brewers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Cubs lead 3-2

The Cubs beat the Brewers 6-3 Tuesday after losing the series-opening game 5-1 Monday. Chicago snapped a 5-game losing streak with the Tuesday win. It has hit a lull and is 5-10 over its last 15 games. The Cubs are just 6-8 in division games and just 13-16 on the road. They sit 2nd in the NL Central.

The Brewers, who are 13-10 at home this season and sit atop the NL Central, have won 3 of their last 5 games. They also haven’t played up to standard as of late and are just 5-6 over their last 11. Milwaukee has been strong for bettors and is 31-23 against the spread (ATS). It has dominated the division and is 14-8 in NL Central battles this season.

Cubs at Brewers projected starters

LHP Shota Imanaga vs. RHP Bryse Wilson

Imanaga (5-0, 0.84 ERA) makes his 10th start. He has a 0.91 WHIP, 1.5 BB/9 and 9.7 K/9 in 53 2/3 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 7 IP, 0 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 7 K in a 1-0 home win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on May 18
  • 2024 road splits: 3-0, 0.38 ERA (23 2/3 IP, 1 ER), 20 H, 1 HR, 7 BB, 26 K in 4 starts
  • Has never faced the Brewers

Wilson (3-1, 2.86 ERA) makes his 7th start (14th appearance). He has a 1.16 WHIP, 3.5 BB/9 and 7.8 K/9 in 44 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 4 2/3 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 1 BB, 3 K in a 4-2 road win over the Houston Astros on May 18

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Cubs at Brewers picks and predictions

Prediction

Brewers 4, Cubs 3

Moneyline

BET BREWERS (+120).

The Brewers may have a slight pitching disadvantage here, but they have been far better at home than the Cubs have been on the road and have been better in divisional games.

Chicago is also just 11-16 following a win while Milwaukee is 13-9 following a loss. While Imanaga has been a terrific option for the road side, Wilson’s ERA shows he’s a capable pitcher as well.

With those trends in mind, back BREWERS (+120).

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

Avoid a run-line play. The Cubs are too risky as a run-line favorite, especially considering they are 1-4 ATS as a run-line favorite, and the Brewers are too expensive as a run-line underdog.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 7.5 (-104).

The Brewers have gone Under in 5 of their last 6 games and have scored a combined 9 runs through their last 3 contests. They have allowed 3 or fewer runs in 5 of those 6 games as well.

Chicago has gone Under in 3 of its last 5 and is 23-30-2 O/U on the season. The Cubs have gone Under in 4 straight games that Imanaga has started, allowing just 4 runs in all 4 of those games.

Considering those trends, back UNDER 7.5 (-104).

Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Chicago Cubs (27-26) and Milwaukee Brewers (30-22) open a 4-game series Monday at American Family Field. First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Cubs vs. Brewers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Cubs lead 2-1

The Cubs have dropped 4 in a row, including a 4-3 loss at the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday Night Baseball as +134 underdogs. Chicago has been outscored 23-11 during the losing skid. The offense has really had a problem plating runs, posting just 32 runs across the past 12 outings since May 13, good for just 2.7 runs per game (RPG). The Under is 8-4 during the 12-game stretch.

The Brewers suffered a 2-1 loss as +127 underdogs in an interleague series finale on the road against the Boston Red Sox Sunday. However, Milwaukee won 2 of the 3 games and the Under has cashed in 4 straight outings for the Brew Crew.

Milwaukee has won 7 of the past 10 games, winning each of the previous 3 series. the Over is 6-2-1 in the past 9 games at home. The last time the Brewers failed to win a series at home was April 26-28 against the New York Yankees.

This series marks the Milwaukee return of skipper Craig Counsell, who was hired away by the Cubs in the offseason after he managed the Brewers for 9 seasons.

Cubs at Brewers projected starters

LHP Justin Steele vs. LHP Robert Gasser

Steele (0-2, 5.68 ERA) makes his 6th start. He has a 1.18 WHIP, 2.1 BB/9 and 8.2 K/9 in 25 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 6 1/3 IP, 5 ER, 6 H, 1 BB, 5 K in 9-2 home victory vs. Atlanta Braves Wednesday
  • 2024 road splits: 0-0, 7.27 ERA (8 2/3 IP, 7 ER), 1.38 WHIP, .273 opponents’ batting average (OBA), 3 BB, 9 K across 2 starts

Gasser (2-0, 2.65 ERA) makes his 4th start. He has a 1.12 WHIP, 0.5 BB/9 and 3.2 K/9 in 17 innings.

Cubs at Brewers picks and predictions

Prediction

Brewers 5, Cubs 2

Moneyline

The BREWERS (-115) are a good option at home in this series opener against the rival Cubs (-105).

The southpaw Gasser is making his 4th career start, and his 3rd in front of the hometown fans. He has been solid in his 2 outings at AFF, allowing just a single run while scattering 8 hits across 11 innings. Gasser doesn’t have overpowering stuff, and is a low-strikeout pitcher, but he has deceptive stuff.

The Cubbies have dropped 4 of the past 5 games on the road, and they’re 1-5 in the past 6 games inside the division, too.

Run line/Against the spread

The Brewers +1.5 (-200) will cost 2 times your potential return. If you like Milwaukee to win outright, just play it straight up.

Otherwise, AVOID.

Over/Under

UNDER (-105) is the lean in this battle between NL Central rivals, but go with a half-unit play at most.

The Cubs have struggled to score runs lately, and that isn’t likely to change. The Under is 5-2 in the past 7 games, and 4-1 in the past 5 on the road.

The Brewers have seen the total go low in 4 in a row, too, while splitting in the past 4 games at home.

Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Milwaukee Brewers (91-69) welcome the Chicago Cubs (82-78) to American Family Field Saturday. First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Cubs vs. Brewers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Brewers lead 6-5

The Brewers opened their final series of the regular season with a 4-3 win over the Cubs Friday. They closed as a +100 underdog. Milwaukee has won 3 straight games and 7 of its last 10.

The Brewers are 48-31 at home this season while the Cubs are 37-42 on the road. Chicago is 4-6 over its last 10. With a Cubs loss to Miami Marlins win, Chicago will be eliminated from playoff contention.

Cubs at Brewers projected starters

LHP Jordan Wicks vs. LHP Eric Lauer

Wicks (4-1, 3.00 ERA) makes his 7th start. The rookie has a 1.12 WHIP, 2.7 BB/9 and 6.3 K/9 in 33 innings.

  • Last start: Win, 6 IP, 3 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 3 K in a 4-3 home win vs. the Colorado Rockies Sunday
  • 2023 road stats: 2-1, 2.66 ERA in 20 1/3 IP over 4 starts
  • Never faced Brewers before

Lauer (4-5, 5.48 ERA) makes his 9th start and 10th appearance. He has a 1.52 WHIP, 4.2 BB/9 and 8.6 K/9 in 42 2/3 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 3 IP, 6 ER, 6 H, 2 BB, 2 K in 8-4 loss at Tampa Bay Rays last Saturday

  • 2023 vs. Cubs: Win, 5 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 2 BB, 6 K in 1 start, a 9-5 road win April 2
  • Career vs. Cubs: 3-1, 4.50 ERA (42 IP, 21 ER) in 8 starts and 1 relief appearance

Cubs at Brewers picks and predictions

Prediction

Cubs 5, Brewers 3

Moneyline

BET CUBS (+105).

Chicago is still in the Wild Card race, but it has lost 4 straight games. 2021 first-round pick Wicks has been strong on the mound this season and should give the Cubs an edge. They are 5-1 in his 6 starts, winning 3 of those 6 by 4 or more runs.

The Cubs are 29-21 in divisional games as well. The Brewers have less to play for and should be looking forward to the postseason. Take CUBS (+105).

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

There isn’t much value on the spread. The Cubs are too expensive at +1.5 (-190), and the Brewers aren’t worth the risk at -1.5 (+155).

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 8.5 (+100).

The Cubs have gone Under in 2 straight games and in Wicks’ last 5 starts. They are 78-77-4 O/U this season. Chicago went Under 8.5 in its 4-3 series-opening loss Friday.

Milwaukee is 70-83-6 O/U this season, and it has gone Under in 4 straight games. Back UNDER 8.5 (+100).

Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Chicago Cubs (82-77) and Milwaukee Brewers (90-69) lift the lid on a 3-game NL Central series Friday. First pitch at American Family Field is slated for 8:10 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s  lines around the Cubs vs. Brewers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: tied 5-5

The Cubs arrive in Milwaukee fresh off being swept in a 3-game set at the Atlanta Braves. Chicago has lost 8 straight away from Wrigley Field, and that timing certainly isn’t good. The Cubs enter this series a half-game behind the Miami Marlins for the 3rd-and-final NL Wild Card berth.

The NL Central-champion Brewers enter this series off back-to-back wins and are 13-7 over their last 20 games. Milwaukee sports a slightly below-average to begin with, but the Brewers have struggled their way to a .616 OPS over their last 5 games.

Cubs at Brewers projected starters

RHP Kyle Hendricks vs. RHP Colin Rea

Hendricks (6-8, 3.66 ERA) is tabbed for his 24th start this season. He owns a 1.18 WHIP, 1.6 BB/9 and 6.2 K/9 through 132 2/3 IP.

  • Last start: Loss, 6 IP, 3 R (1 ER), 7 H, 2 BB, 5 K in 8-6 loss vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Sept. 21
  • 2023 Road stats: 3-3, 3.08 ERA in 61 1/3 IP across 10 starts
  • 10-8 with a 3.40 ERA in 188 IP across 33 career starts against the Brewers

Rea (6-6, 4.74 ERA) makes his 22nd start and 26th appearance. He has a 1.22 WHIP, 2.9 BB/9 and 7.8 K/9 through 119 2/3 IP.

  • Has made 3 relief appearances since his last start Sept. 8.
  • Owns a 2.79 ERA and 0.98 WHIP across 19 1/3 IP in September.
  • 2023 home stats: 2-4, 5.19 ERA in 60 1/3 IP across 11 starts and 3 relief appearances
  • Only other career start vs. Cubs was in 2016.
  • Has benefited this season from a .258 batting average on balls in play (BABIP) and a .230 BABIP with runners in scoring position.

  • Over/Under (O/U): 8 (O: -105 | U: -115)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Cubs at Brewers picks and predictions

Prediction

Brewers 4, Cubs 3

Moneyline

The Cubs are a team lean overall, but the pitching here levels things a bit. No value to be had.

PASS.

Run line/Against the spread

Cubs -1.5 would be worth perhaps a partial-unit play at +160, but PASS on the current offering.

Over/Under

The Over has cashed in 4 of the last 5 Cubs-Brewers games in Milwaukee.

Hendricks has benefited from a .282 BABIP for the season. Add in  Rea’s helping numbers above, and both hurlers are in fade mode. Milwaukee owns an unsubstantiated 2.01 ERA this month (helped by a .247 BABIP).

BACK THE OVER 8 (-105).

The Chicago Cubs (40-45) and the Milwaukee Brewers (46-41) conclude a 4-game series Thursday at American Family Field. First pitch is set for 2:10 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Cubs vs. Brewers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Series tied 3-3 after Chicago’s 4-3 win Wednesday night

The Cubs were tripped up 8-6 in the series opener Monday night, but Chicago has turned the tables with a pair of consecutive 1-run victories (7-6 in 11 innings Tuesday, 4-3 Wednesday). The Under (8) cashed on Wednesday, snapping a 3-game run to the Over in this series.

The two losses have slipped the Brewers 2 games behind the Cincinnati Reds for 1st place in the NL Central. The Under result for the Brewers on Wednesday snapped a 5-0 run to the Over.

Stroman (9-6, 2.76 ERA) makes his 19th start. He has a 1.09 WHIP, 3.1 BB/9 and 7.7 K/9 in 107 2/3 innings.

Cubs at Brewers picks and predictions

Prediction

Cubs 4, Brewers 3

Moneyline

The CUBS (-110) are a solid play as a pick ’em in this series finale.

American Family Field has been a house of horrors for the Cubbies in recent seasons, but they have made themselves right at home in this series. Chicago is looking to win their first series in Milwaukee since July 4-6 last season.

While the Brewers are 6-1 in the past 7 games following a loss, Peralta has been too shaky to be trusted and they are still just 2-6 in the past 8 at home against teams with a losing record.

Run line/Against the spread

The Brewers +1.5 (-190) are a little too expensive for my liking on the run line if you want a little insurance after the past 2 losses.

If you like the Brew Crew, just play them straight up, but I prefer the Cubs -1.5 (+155) to get it down again. However, it should be another close game, so AVOID.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

UNDER 8 (-105) is the lean Thursday.

The Under has cashed at a 13-5-1 clip in the past 19 road games for the Cubs while going 10-2 in the past 12 on the road vs. RHP.

The Under is 5-1-1 in the Brewers’ last 7 tries in Game 4 of a series and is 22-7-2 in the past 31 home games against a team with a losing record.

Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with expert MLB picks, predictions and best bets.

[anyclip pubname=”2129″ widgetname=”0016M00002U0B1kQAF_M8190″]

The Chicago Cubs (39-45) and the Milwaukee Brewers (46-40) play the 3rd contest of a 4-game series Wednesday at American Family Field. First pitch is set for 8:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Cubs vs. Brewers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Brewers lead 3-2 after Tuesday’s 7-6 victory by the Cubs in 11 innings

The Cubs held a 6-2 lead heading to the bottom of the 8th inning, but they couldn’t hold the lead. The Brewers scored 2 in the bottom of the 8th, and 2 more in the bottom of the 9th, to force extra innings. Chicago cashed with a run in the top of the 11th to win 7-6.

Chicago stopped a 3-game losing streak with the win Tuesday. It has scored 6 or more runs in each of the last 3 outings, while also allowing 6 or more runs in 4 in a row.

The Brewers offense has been on fire, posting 38 runs in the last 5 games, an average of 7.6 runs per game (RPG). The problem is that the Milwaukee pitchers have coughed up 32 runs during the span, which is 6.4 RPG. Needless to say, the Over has cashed in all 5 outings.

Cubs at Brewers projected starters

LHP Justin Steele vs. RHP Adrian Houser

Steele (9-2, 2.43 ERA) makes his 16th start. He has a 1.03 WHIP, 2.0 BB/9 and 8.0 K/9 in 85 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: Win, 6 1/3 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 1 BB, 6 K in a 10-1 home win vs. the Cleveland Guardians Friday
  • 2023 road splits: 3-1, 2.68 ERA (37 IP, 11 ER – 2 HR) with a .211 opponent batting average (OBA) in 6 starts

Houser (3-2, 3.88 ERA) makes his 9th start and 11th overall appearance. He has a 1.51 WHIP, 2.7 BB/9 and 5.8 K/9 in 46 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: Win, 6 IP, 2 ER, 7 H, 1 BB, 5 K in a 3-2 road win vs. the New York Mets last Thursday
  • 2023 home splits: 1-1, 4.67 ERA (17 1/3 IP, 9 ER – 2 HR) with a .268 OBA in 3 starts and 1 relief appearance

Cubs at Brewers picks and predictions

Prediction

Cubs 4, Brewers 2

Moneyline

The CUBS (-155) are worth a look as moderate favorites behind Steele, the 1st-time All-Star. Steele handled his business in his 1st start of the season April 1 against the Brewers at Wrigley Field, allowing just 3 hits and a walk in 6 scoreless innings with 8 strikeouts in a no-decision. Steele posted a solid 1.56 ERA in 17 1/3 IP in 3 starts in the month of June, too.

While American Family Field has been a house of horrors for the Cubs over the years, Chicago won Tuesday, and it has the pitching advantage Wednesday. Don’t be scared off.

Run line/Against the spread

The CUBS -1.5 (+105) are worth a look on the run line laying the run and a half. Steele has been tremendous this season, especially in his last 3 starts. And he twirled 6 scoreless innings in his first appearance against the Brewers +1.5 (-130).

Chicago has covered the run line in 5 of the last 7 games when favorites.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

UNDER 8.5 (-105) is the lean because of Steele, although Houser has been pretty sharp overall, too.

The Under is 3-1-1 in the last 5 games for the Cubs following a win, while going 9-2 in the last 11 road games against a right-handed starting pitcher.

The Under is 7-3-1 in the last 11 for the Brewers in Game 3 of a series, while cashing at a 21-7-2 clip in the last 30 home games against a team with a losing overall record.
