CU Buffs hosting local LB Omari Bursey for Nebraska game

Legacy High School LB @omari_bursey is set to visit CU for the Buffs’ home opener

The Colorado football team is going to have a busy season with recruits lining up left and right to come play for Deion Sanders.

The Buffs kick off the season against TCU on the road, but the first home game of the Coach Prime era comes against the Nebraska Cornhuskers and new head coach Matt Rhule on Sept. 9. That game should have plenty of big names, and it could serve as a recruiting tool for potential incoming Buffs players.

One recruit who will be there in person is in-state linebacker Omari Bursey, who announced it on his X (formerly known as Twitter) page. Bursey will also visit Montana the following week.

Bursey is a senior at Legacy High School in Broomfield, so staying in Colorado and getting to play for the Buffs likely has some appeal for him. So far, Bursey has received offers from Lindenwood, Eastern Washington, Northern Colorado, Montana, CSU-Pueblo and Portland State.

247Sports ranks Bursey as the No. 25 2024 prospect in Colorado.

Colorado menā€™s basketball reportedly eyeing 2024 center Abraham Oyeadier

The #cubuffs are reportedly looking at a 6-foot-10 high school prospect from San Diego

Recruiting never stops at the college level as coaches are always looking at how to bolster their future squads.

Earlier this week, college basketball recruiting insider Dino Siervo reported that Colorado has reached out to Abraham Oyeadier, a 2024 center from San Diego.Ā

Per NBA Scouting Live, the 6-foot-10 Oyeadier is an athletic big man who is strong on the defensive side of the ball but will need to refine his offensive game before he makes the jump to college.Ā

As of now, Oyeadier is not ranked on 247Sports, although that could change quickly if he continues to develop. He most recently played for the Oakland Soldiers of the Nike EYBL.Ā

Other schools that have contacted him include Princeton and BYU, according to Siervo.Ā

CU Buffs offer four-star Miami commit Artavius Jones

Colorado extended an offer to four-star 2024 Miami commit Artavius Jones

The Colorado Buffaloes football program has been extremely active on the recruiting front. With Deion Sanders in town, a number of players from the state of Florida, as well as transfers from Florida State, have committed to play for Coach Prime.

Now, the Buffs have offered class of 2024 four-star defensive lineman Artavius Jones, per his X (formerly known as Twitter) page.

The junior from Blountstown, Florida is committed has received offers from a flurry of schools, including UCF, Florida State, Georgia, and LSU but is committed to Miami (FL), for now.

Jones committed to Miami back in July and since then, he has received offers from a number of other programs, including Tennessee, Kentucky and Mississippi State.

In 2022, Jones played on both sides of the line and even took snaps at fullback and tight end, so his versatility is off the charts and exactly what Coach Prime loves in potential two-way players.

For now, he is committed to Miami, but as always, minds can change over the course of the next few months ahead of national signing day.

Where Colorado’s 2024 recruiting class ranks among other Big 12 teams

See how Colorado’s 2024 recruiting class compares to other current/future Big 12 programs

Things are changing quickly in the world of Colorado football recruiting.

With head coach Deion Sanders now in charge, we’re seeing more and more prospects from the South ā€” Florida, in particular ā€” committing to the Buffs. This trend should continue, too, for at least as long as Coach Prime is in Boulder.

Plus, it was announced late last month that Colorado is returning to the Big 12 next summer, a move that adds another element of change for the Buffs in terms of recruiting.

Including the conference’s newest additions of Colorado, Arizona State, Arizona and Utah, here’s how the Big 12’s 2024 recruiting classes rank, per the 247Sports Composite:

Colorado extends offer to four-star TE Roger Saleapaga

Four-star Utah TE Roger Saleapaga added Colorado to his list of offers

Although Roger Saleapaga has already announced his top 10 schools, Colorado is making a late push for the 2024 four-star tight end.

On Thursday, Saleapaga announced on his X account (formerly Twitter) that he received an offer from the Buffs after speaking with tight ends coach Tim Brewster. The 6-foot-5, 210-pound converted wide receiver is ranked as the No. 3 overall prospect in Utah and the No. 23 TE (247Sports Composite).

At Oreom High School last fall, Saleapaga recorded 78 receptions for 1,267 yards and 14 touchdowns as a WR.

He announced a top 10 of Utah, Oregon, Washington, Tennessee, Baylor, Miami, Iowa, UCLA, Auburn and Alabama in late July.

With the current outlook of Colorado’s roster, tight end figures to be a priority position for the 2024 class. Brewster’s TEs room currently includes walk-on Michael Harrison, Elijah Yelverton, Louis Passarello, Erik Olsen, Caleb Fauria and Brady Kopetz.

Colorado makes four-star shooting guard Jared Harris’ top 10

Tad Boyle’s #cubuffs made four-star shooting guard Jared Harris’ top 10 schools

Four and five-star recruits being tied to head coach Tad Boyle’s Colorado men’s basketball program has been a common occurrence in recent years. This season’s incoming freshman class, for example, includes five-star Cody Williams and in-state four-star Assane Diop.

The Buffs are now in the hunt for class of 2024 four-star guard Jared Harris, who on Monday named Colorado to his top 10 schools along with Texas A&M, Arkansas, DePaul, Illinois, Kansas, LSU, Memphis, Mississippi State and Alabama.

Per 247Sports, the 6-foot-2 Texas prospect has official visits scheduled with Colorado and Texas A&M.

Here’s what 247Sports recruiting analyst Brandon Jenkins wrote on Harris:

He brings great tools to the backcourt when factoring in his length, athleticism, and shooting prowess. His mentality and willingness to buy in will be key when discussing his level of efficiency and production atĀ the collegiate level.

Boyle’s Buffs have yet to earn a 2024 commitment, although things are trending well for Colorado to land in-state four-star combo guard Andrew Crawford.

On3 predicts Colorado to land four-star combo guard Andrew Crawford

Colorado target @drewcrawford42, an in-state four-star recruit from ThunderRidge High School, is deciding between the #cubuffs and Stanford

The Colorado men’s basketball team is set for a big year with Cody Williams set to take over. The future of the program is bright, especially with the Buffs’ move to the Big 12 coming in 2024.

Head coach Tad Boyle is out there recruiting as always, and the Buffs are in the final two, along with Stanford, for four-star 2024 combo guard Andrew Crawford. Oct. 14 will be decision day for Crawford, and he is planning on visiting both of his top schools sometime in September, per Eric Bossi of 247Sports.

Crawford is a Colorado native from Littleton and is heading into his senior year at ThunderRidge High School as a top 100 recruit for 2024.

The 6-foot-6 prospect revealed why he narrowed it down to the Buffs and Cardinal (h/t 247Sports):

ā€œColorado for obvious reasons,” Crawford told 247Sports. “Theyā€™ve been on me since freshman year and I have to show them a level of respect because that was huge for me. They were on me when nobody else saw the vision and saw what I was going to be so I appreciate them a lot for that. Stanford because Stanford can set me up for life. They are one of the best schools in America and Iā€™d be an idiot to not at least check it out.ā€

On3 national recruiting analyst Jamie Shaw recently predicted Colorado to land the prized in-state prospect:

Colorado football recruiting: Three-star Erie TE Mason Cowgill receives PWO offer

Erie TE @cowgill_mason received a PWO offer from the #cubuffs

While new head coach Deion Sanders has heightened Colorado’s focus on recruiting Texas and Florida, the Buffs have not neglected talent from their home state.

Colorado recently picked up a preferred walk-on commitment from Dakota Ridge (Littleton) defensive back Brandon Miller and on Saturday, tight ends coach Tim Brewster gave another PWO offer to Erie High School rising senior Mason Cowgill.

At 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, Cowgill sizes up well compared to other 2024 TEs and he has taken advantage of several opportunities this summer via attending prospect camps at Colorado, Sacramento State, Weber State, Idaho and Montana, among possibly others. Cowgill announced his first Division I scholarship offer from South Dakota in May.

The three-star Cowgill recorded 207 receiving yards and four touchdowns as a junior last fall.

Five-star CB Charles Lester III commits to Florida State over Colorado

Despite taking a last-minute trip to Boulder, five-star CB Charles Lester III gave his pledge to Florida State

Despite taking a last-minute visit to Colorado earlier this week, five-star cornerback Charles Lester III announced his commitment to Florida State on Friday evening. Head coach Mike Norvell’s Seminoles had been favored throughout the 2024 prospect’s recruitment.

However, I wouldn’t consider Colorado to be completely hopeless with the early signing period still months away. Alabama and Georgia were also in the picture at the time of his commitment, albeit less so.

Missing out on Lester’s commitment still stings. The 6-foot-1, 171-pound Venice High School incoming senior is the second-ranked CB in his class and the No. 19 overall prospect.

Shortly after Lester announced his pledge to FSU, On3 Recruits revealed that he “silently committed” to the Seminoles back in June.

Colorado’s 2024 class remains at eight commitments.

Five-star CB Charles Lester III on Colorado’s campus ahead of Friday decision

Five-star CB Charles Lester III took a surprise visit to Boulder with his college decision coming shortly

Deion Sanders’ chances at landing five-star cornerback Charles Lester III increased on Tuesday as the 2024 recruit revealed himself touring Colorado’s campus via Instagram Live.

With his college commitment set to be announced Friday evening, Lester’s surprise visit to Boulder has some significant weight behind it. Many still regard Florida State as the favorite, but his last-minute trip to check out the Buffs certainly complicates things.

The 6-foot-1, 171-pound Florida prospect was previously at CU in June and has also taken summer visits to Alabama and FSU. The 247Sports Composite ranks him as the No. 19 overall prospect and the No. 2 CB in his class.

Fellow 2024 Florida wide receiver Josiah Booker, a three-star prospect, is also in Boulder this week on an apparent recruiting visit.

Lester will be announcing his college commitment on Friday (8:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. MT) in Sarasota, Florida.
