Euro 2024: Croatia vs. Italy odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Croatia vs. Italy odds and lines, with Euro 2024 expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

Croatia (0 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss) battles Italy (1-0-1) in the 3rd matchday of Euro 2024 from Red Bull Arena Leipzig Monday. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Croatia vs. Italy odds, and make our best Euro 2024 bets, picks and predictions.

Italy, the nation that hoisted the Euro 2020 trophy, beat Albania 2-1 to open up its tournament play and then lost 1-0 to Spain Thursday. In the loss, Italy had 8 fewer shots on goal and 16 fewer shots. Italy is led by M Jorginho, who has been a staple of the Chelsea midfield for years. Italy went 3-1-0 through its four 2024 friendlies, drawing 0-0 to Turkey in the only game it didn’t win.

Croatia was throttled by Spain to kick off the tournament, losing 3-0. It did hold Spain scoreless in the second half though. Croatia then drew Albania 2-2 Wednesday. It ended with 22 shots and 10 on frame, 7 and 3 more than its opponent, respectively. Croatia’s main weapon is 38-year-old M Luka Modric, who just finished another season at Real Madrid. Croatia won all 4 of its matches leading up to the event.

Croatia vs. Italy picks and predictions

Prediction

Italy 2, Croatia 2

Moneyline (ML)

BET DRAW (+210).

Italy and Croatia both play a similar style with several technically sound players. Italy has drawn 2 of its last 6 games and has had 5 of those 6 end within 1 goal. Those 6 included matches against Bosnia and Spain with both matches ending 1-0 despite drastically different levels in Italy’s opponents. Italy plays to level of its competition.

While Croatia was dominated by Spain, it did perform better against Albania despite ending with just 1 point. Also, of note, it did end with 5 more shots than Spain, just not converting despite having the same shots on frame. Although it has just 1 point through 2 games, Croatia is a competent side that should hang with Italy well.

BACK DRAW (+210).

Check out Pro Soccer Wire: For the American soccer fan, USA TODAY Sports Media Group’s website provides a fresh look at the beautiful game.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 2.5 (-102).

Croatia needs to play like it needs a win, because, to advance, it does. A draw, more than likely, won’t cut it, and that may mean it plays a more aggressive style Monday. Croatia has tallied 11 goals in its last 5 matches and has gone Over this total in both Euro games.

Italy has scored in 4 of its last 6 games and has scored at least 2 goals in 2 of its last 5. Croatia’s defense has been more giving than Spain’s which should help Italy’s attack find the holes and get more opportunities.

Expect goals and BACK OVER 2.5 (-102).

Euro 2024: Spain vs. Croatia odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Spain vs. Croatia odds and lines, with Euro 2024 expert picks, predcitions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

Spain battles Croatia in the 1st matchday of Euro 2024 from Olympiastadion Berlin in Germany Saturday. Kickoff is set for noon ET (FOX). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Spain vs. Croatia odds, and make our best Euro 2024 bets, picks and predictions.

Spain has played 4 friendlies this season and 2 in the last month leading up to Euro 2024. Earlier in the year, it lost to Colombia 1-0 and drew Brazil 3-3. More recently, it beat Andorra 5-0 June 5 and Northern Island 5-1. Spain has a number of talented and experienced players with M Rodri and D Dani Carvajal. It sits 8th in the FIFA Men’s World Rankings.

Croatia sits 10th in the world rankings. It is led by familiar face M Luka Modric, who plays for Real Madrid. Two Manchester City players, M Mateo Kovacic and D Josko Gvardiol, cracked the 26-man roster as well. Croatia has also played 4 games this year and 2 more recently. Spain vs. Croatia picks and predictions

Prediction

Croatia 1, Spain 1

Moneyline (ML)

SPRINKLE DRAW (+240).

The last time these 2 teams took the pitch, the result was a 0-0 draw with a total of 7 shots on frame. That was in the Nations League final June 18, 2023.

While Spain is the favorite and Croatia is the less-talented aging side, Modric and company drew 2 of 3 Group F games in the 2022 World Cup before finishing in 3rd place.

Croatia has won 6 straight games as well, so it is playing at a high level. Couple it all together, and take DRAW (+240).

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (-138).

Neither team plays at an ultra-high pace, and both are technically-sound, both offensively and defensively. Croatia had 4 of its last 5 UEFA qualifiers go Under.

Spain has beaten up on lesser-quality sides in its friendlies but went 2-3 O/U this total in the 5 games against top-15 FIFA nations. In its last 4 games against top-50 opponents (Scotland, Norway, Colombia and Brazil), Spain is 1-3 O/U this total.

With the style in mind and the recent trends, back UNDER 2.5 (-138).

UEFA Nations League: Croatia vs. Spain odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Croatia vs. Spain UEFA Nations League final odds and lines, with expert soccer picks, predictions and best bets.

Croatia battles Spain in the UEFA Nations League final on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 2:45 p.m. ET from De Kuip in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Below, we preview BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Croatia vs. Spain odds, and make our best soccer bets, picks and predictions.

Croatia took down the Netherlands 4-2 in extra time Wednesday to advance to the final. It is one of the best teams in Europe and proved that during the World Cup, reaching the semifinals and losing 3-0 to Argentina, which won  the tournament. Croatia was 4-1-1 in Nations League group stage play and is led by long-time captain M Luka Modric.

Spain took down Italy 2-1 in full time, more than doubling the Italian’s shots on goal (7-3). It didn’t quite perform up to pair in the World Cup, making the knockout stage but losing to Morocco in the first round. It went 3-1-2 (2 draws) in group stage play. M Gavi, M Rodri and F Alvaro Morata will be the names to keep an eye on for the Spanish side.

Croatia vs. Spain picks and predictions

Prediction

Spain 1, Croatia 0

Moneyline (ML)

LEAN SPAIN (+105).

Spain’s talent is just a level above Croatia’s. Gavi plays for Barcelona and Rodri is on Manchester City, both clubs that won their respective league. Spain had a dominant performance against Italy as well, possessing the ball for 62% of the match.

While Croatia won, it didn’t quite have that convincing performance. Also, Modric is 37 years old and will eventually start to slow down, likely being given all the minutes he can handle for the 2nd time in 5 days.

With the value here, take SPAIN (+105).

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (-145).

While I don’t see Croatia coming out on top, what it has consistently done well and why it performed well in the World Cup is that it forces its opponent to play at its pace. Expect that on Sunday.

Croatia has gone Under this total in 3 of 4 games in 2023 and went under in 4 of the 7 World Cup matches is was part of. It also had 54% of the possession against the Netherlands. It should slow the pace down.

Also, while Morata should get the start up top for Spain, he hasn’t produced well lately, tallying just 13 goals in 36 matches for Atletico Madrid. Put it all together and take the UNDER 2.5 (-145).

UEFA Nations League semifinal: Netherlands vs. Croatia odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Netherlands vs. Croatia odds and lines, with expert UEFA Nations League semifinal picks, predictions and best bets.

The UEFA Nations League semifinal features Netherlands and Croatia at Stadion Feijenoord De Kuip in Rotterdam, Netherlands on Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 2:45 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we preview BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Netherlands vs. Croatia odds, and make our best soccer bets, picks and predictions.

Netherlands will play without star MF Memphis Depay, as he continues to battle a calf injury and is unfit to play. D Matthijs de Ligt will also be sidelined for this match, and the final, should the Dutch advance, as he also nurses a calf ailment.

This UEFA Nations League A championship playoff features 2 sides which Argentina topped to get to the pinnacle at the World Cup. Both the Dutch and Croatians had a phenomenal tournament in Qatar, and this will be a quality match throughout.

Croatia faces the tough task of playing in Holland, so it will obviously be a very unwelcoming atmosphere for manager Zlatko Dalic’s club. Croatia is unbeaten in its past 3 matches across all formats, including a 2-1 win in the 3rd-place game in the World Cup, and a 2-0 win over Turkey in a EURO qualifier in late March.

Internationally, these teams haven’t met since a friendly in Feb. 2008, with the Dutch winning 2-0.

The only injury concern for the Croats is that of D Josko Gvardiol, who will be inactive with a groin injury.

If MF Ivan Perisic is able to score, he would move past Mario Mandzukic for 2nd-place all-time among Croatian scorers for the national team.

Netherlands vs. Croatia picks and predictions

Prediction

Netherlands 1, Croatia 1 (Netherlands wins on penalties)

Moneyline (ML)

I like the DRAW (+240) for a solid value, and a chance to more than double up.

The only concern is that Netherlands (-105) is at home. However, Croatia (+300) has proven time and again in international play that it is a force to be reckoned with, any time and any place. I think Kockasti, which means Checkered Ones due to their famous kit, will push The Oranje to the limit, tied after full time. Don’t be surprised to see this decided on penalties.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 2.5 (-150) is the lean, as I expect a draw after full time.

For Croatia, it has seen a total of 2 goals in each of the past 2 EURO qualifiers, a 1-1 draw with Wales, and a 2-0 win over Turkey.

For Netherlands, it spanked Gibraltar 3-0 in a EURO qualifier, but that’s not terribly impressive considering the world-class players for The Oranje, and well, not so world-class side for the English enclave. Netherlands will have a much more difficult time finding the back of Croatia’s net, and no Depay doesn’t help that effort.

2022 World Cup: Morocco vs. Croatia odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Morocco vs. Croatia 3rd-place match odds and lines, with World Cup soccer expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The 3rd-place Game of the 2022 World Cup has Morocco and Croatia meeting Saturday at Khalifa International Stadium. Kickoff is at 10 a.m. ET (FOX/Telemundo). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Morocco vs. Croatia odds, and make our best World Cup bets, picks and predictions.

The dream run for Morocco is nearly over. It was unable to bounce defending World Cup champ France Wednesday, falling 2-0 in the semi-final. However, it has still been a miraculous run for the African nation.

Morocco defeated Portugal and Spain in the knockout stages, while also topping world power Belgium in the group stage. This side has used suffocating defense and timely scoring to make a deep run in Qatar.

These teams actually each met in Group F play to open their World Cup runs, playing to a scoreless draw in that match back on Nov. 23. It was an even battle, too, with both sides accounting for 5 total shots with 1 shot on goal per side. Croatia dominated the possession at 61.0%-to-39.0%.

The “Kockasti”, or Checkered Ones, came up short in their bid for a 2nd straight World Cup Final. Croatia was pounded 3-0 by Argentina in their semi-final game Tuesday.

It has been a magical run for Croatia, too, as it bounced World Cup favorite Brazil in the Quarterfinal, while also stopping Japan on penalties in the Round of 16.

Prediction

Croatia 2, Morocco 1

Moneyline (ML)

This is the only rematch of the entire 2022 World Cup, and the first time we saw a scoreless draw between these sides.

I think both teams will be a little looser, taking some chances to push the ball up and down the pitch. Nobody likes to be in the 3rd-place match, coming up just short of a title, but it is usually an entertaining affair.

CROATIA (+135) has a little more offensive firepower, and it should get it done in a fun match.

Over/Under (O/U)

In 2018, Belgium upended England 2-0, and in 2014 we saw Netherlands drop Brazil 3-0. In fact, in 10 of the past 11 third-place matches dating back to 1978 have seen 3 or more total goals.

While we saw a scoreless draw the first time these teams played each other, there is no pressure in this match, and it should be much more wide-open. OVER 2.5 (-115) is the way to go, especially based on the lengthy history of the 3rd-place match.

2022 World Cup: Croatia vs. Argentina odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Croatia vs. Argentina odds and lines, with World Cup soccer expert picks, predictions and best bets.

Argentina battles Croatia on Tuesday in the 1st of 2 World Cup semifinals. Kickoff from Lusail Stadium in Qatar is set for 2 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Croatia vs. Argentina odds, and make our best World Cup bets, picks and predictions.

With 2 wins in the group stage, Argentina won Group C. They then beat Australia 2-1 in the Round of 16, ending with 9 more shots and 4 more shots on target. Argentina, the No. 3 team in FIFA’s world rankings, met the Netherlands in the quarterfinals.

Argentina was leading 2-0 in the 80th minute when the Netherlands found a way to score 2 goals in the final 10 minutes plus stoppage time. Argentina advanced by winning 4-3 in penalty kicks. They had 8 more shots and 3 more on target than the Netherlands.

Croatia also had an exciting quarterfinal matchup. They went into extra time 0-0 with No. 1 Brazil. F Neymar scored in the 105th minute just to have F Bruno Petkovic equalize in the 117th.

Croatia, No. 12 in FIFA’s rankings, had 12 fewer shots and 10 fewer on target, but won 4-2 in penalty kicks. Croatia has given up just 3 goals in 5 games, holding Belgium and Morocco scoreless.

Tuesday’s winner will play the winner of Wednesday’s France-Morocco match for the title.

Prediction

Argentina 2, Croatia 1

Moneyline (ML)

BET ARGENTINA (-122).

Argentina is 1 of the few teams that have the decision-making in the midfield to counter what M Luka Modric can throw at them. Modric is 37 and should have tired legs this far in the tournament.

The difference here is how each team played in the semifinal with F Lionel Messi and Argentina competing at the same level as the Netherlands. Croatia, on the other hand, was outplayed by Brazil but managed to advance due to their opponent failing to capitalize.

The Messi-led side should be able to make their opportunities count, netting 2 in just 5 shots on frame against the Netherlands.

Croatia allowed 11 shots on goal and just 1 goal against Brazil. If Argentina ends with those figures, expect multiple shots to end in the back of the net. At (-122), back Argentina to win in regulation.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN OVER 2.5 (+150).

The Croatian pace has been the main reason they have struggled to score. They do not play at a high pace with an aging, yet technically sound,  midfield. Argentina scored in the 1st half against the Netherlands, and that helped open things up. That could certainly be the case Tuesday.

Croatia has played well defensively, but holding Morocco and Belgium without a goal isn’t as impressive as it seems as both had struggled to score for most of the tournament.

If Argentina can strike in the 1st half and make Croatia get out of their comfort zone, expect the OVER 2.5 (+150) to be the better option.

2022 World Cup: Croatia vs. Brazil odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Croatia vs. Brazil odds and lines, with World Cup soccer expert picks, predictions and best bets.

In the 1st quarterfinal battle, Croatia faces Brazil on Friday with kickoff from Education City Stadium set for 10 a.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Croatia vs. Brazil odds, and make our best World Cup bets, picks and predictions.

Croatia finished 2nd in Group F play, recording 2 draws (both 0-0) and a win. They ended group stage play with 4 goals scored and 1 allowed, all in their sole win over Canada. They outlasted Japan in the Round of 16 on penalty kicks. Croatia ended with 17 shots (4 on target) and 59% possession. They won 3-1 in penalties.

Brazil, No. 1 in the FIFA rankings and the favorite to win the title, abused South Korea 4-1 in their Round of 16 matchup. Brazil had 3 more shots on target than South Korea and managed just 54% possession. Brazil won Group G by beating Serbia 2-0 and Switzerland 1-0 before allowing some players to get rest in a 1-0 loss to Cameroon.

Prediction

Brazil 2, Croatia 0

Moneyline (ML)

PASS.

There’s no value on the moneyline. Brazil scored 4 on South Korea with ease, all in the 1st half. They are far more talented than Croatia.

Aside from 4 against Canada, Croatia didn’t score in the group stage. That  justifies the value of these moneyline odds. That said, ultimately this is a pass.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (+110).

Brazil might be a high-paced side, but they haven’t dominated most games from an offensive standpoint. They went Under this total in all group stage games and only beat Switzerland 1-0.

Their match with Switzerland should be similar to this match with Croatia as both the Swiss and Croatian strength comes in their technical midfield. There were just 5 shots on target in that battle.

For Croatia, they have gone Under this total in 3 of their 4 World Cup matches and had 2 group stage matches ended without a single goal. The best offensive team Croatia has faced, Belgium, ended with just 3 shots on target.

Expect both defenses to come to play, and the UNDER 2.5 (+110) is the best value on the table in this battle.

2022 World Cup: Japan vs. Croatia odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Japan vs. Croatia odds and lines, with World Cup soccer expert picks, predictions and best bets.

Japan and Croatia face off Monday at Al Janoub Stadium. Kickoff is at 10 a.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Japan vs. Croatia odds, and make our best World Cup bets, picks and predictions.

Japan won Group E outright. It toppled Germany and Spain, beating them both 2-1. However, they also lost to last placed Costa Rica 1-0. Now it takes on Croatia who has yet to lose in the World Cup.

Croatia drew with the eventual Group F winner Morocco 0-0 to open its group play and then drew 0-0 again against a desperate Belgium team to knock it out of the group stage. Croatia’s one surge in offense came against Canada where it netted 4 in a 4-1 victory.

Prediction

Croatia 1 Japan 0

Moneyline (ML)

Japan has made most of its opportunities in this World Cup. It turned 10 shots on target into 4 goals in the group stage, although it only had 5 successful crosses (last place Costa Rica had 3). Croatia has conceded just 1 goal in Group F and just 7 shots on goal.

Croatia comes into this match with an 85% passing accuracy versus 78.6% for Japan.

BET CROATIA (+105).

Over/Under (O/U)

As mentioned above, Croatia’s defense has been quite good. If you have a feeling Japan could steal this game there may be value in the Over but as long as Croatia can control this game you won’t see much scoring.

Japan has yet to score a goal in the first half giving more reason to pick the  Under, however, because the line is so steep at -160 it’s best to PASS.

2022 World Cup: Croatia vs. Belgium odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Croatia vs. Belgium odds and lines, with World Cup soccer expert picks, predictions and best bets.

Croatia (1 win, 0 losses, 1 draw) battles Belgium (1-1-0) in both nations’ final Group F group stage match. Kickoff from Ahmad bin Ali Stadium is set for 10 a.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Croatia vs. Belgium odds, and make our best World Cup bets, picks and predictions.

Croatia drew Morocco 0-0 in their 1st match and destroyed Canada 4-1 Sunday. Croatia roared back after giving up a 2nd-minute goal and led 2-1 at the half. It ended with 10 shots on target and allowed just 2 on frame from Canada. Croatia is led by 37-year-old M Luka Modric, who captains the Group F leaders.

Belgium took down Canada 1-0 in their 1st match and then lost to Morocco 2-0, having the majority of possession in both games. Captained by Man City star M Kevin de Bruyne, Belgium will need a win (or a Morocco loss to Canada by 3 or more goals) to advance with Croatia and Morocco both with 4 points.

Prediction

Croatia 2, Belgium 1

Moneyline (ML)

LEAN CROATIA (+170).

As de Bruyne said earlier in the tournament, Belgium is just too old, and they looked that part against Morocco.

Even against Canada, Belgium had 13 fewer shots and just 54% of the possession. Canada was among the 1st 2 teams eliminated from the knockout stage, so that is far from an impressive look despite a 1-0 win.

Croatia proved they were more than their aging captain as well. Modric is the star, but M Mateo Kovacic, who plays for Chelsea, and F Andrej Kramaric, who plays in the Bundesliga for 1899 Hoffenheim, have had several impactful moments throughout the 1st 2 matches.

Belgium has won the possession battle and still lost. Against a team with a far better midfield than they’ve faced this tournament, expect Belgium to lag behind. Take Croatia (+170) as they still have something to play for.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 2.5 (+110).

Croatia put up 4 goals on Canada. Modric has the talent to get players in a position to succeed.

While de Bruyne hasn’t translated what he can do into goals, they should come given that Belgium has 19 shots through 2 games and just 1 goal.

The Belgium defense has also been underwhelming, allowing 22 shots to Canada and 10 to a defensive-minded Morocco team. Croatia, who has the talent to finish, could abuse those flaws.

Prior to World Cup action, Belgium was 6-3 O/U this total through 9 matches in 2022. Considering that, and Croatia’s strength in the final 3rd, back the Over 2.5 (+110).

Prediction

Croatia 3, Morocco 1

Moneyline (ML)

BET CROATIA (+115).

Simply put, Croatia is playing better than Morocco. They have played tougher opponents overall and handled it better. Drawing France and then beating them the following week in June is extremely important going into this and something to pay attention to.

Croatia also has someone to be seen as the dark horse on the team and that player is M Mateo Kovacic. The Chelsea mid does not get consistent minutes for the club, but surely the duo between Modric and Kovacic will show up in a big way.

Considering Morocco’s loss to the United States, 1 of the major opponents it faced, there is risk in assuming it can keep up with a side that has patient midfielders like Croatia.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN OVER 2.5 (+145).

If Croatia plays Morocco’s weak side, the side without PSG D Achraf Hakimi, they should handily win this one.

Morocco also lost one of their starters, M Amine Harit, to an unfortunate knee injury in training. This will put Croatia in the driver’s seat to take this fixture with relative ease.

Morocco has scored 9 goals in their last 4 matches. Granted their schedule was weaker, but they still have the possibility to score. Croatia has gone Over this total in 2 of their last 3 matches and in 4 games this year.

For a smaller unit, back the Over 2.5 (+145).
