Alabama softball run rules top-10 ranked LSU

Alabama softball is off to yet another hot start. With a perfect record, the Crimson Tide took down LSU twice this weekend.

Alabama softball is off to a hot start to their 2021 campaign. So far, the team is undefeated through eight games, with the two recent wins coming against top-10 ranked LSU.

In Saturday’s matchup, the Crimson Tide took down the Tigers with a final score of 5-2. However, today, Alabama did not go easy on their fellow SEC West opponents. They defeated the Tigers in only five innings, with a final score of 13-5.

Junior pitcher Montana Fouts earned win No. 4 on the season, only giving up five hits and four earned runs though five innings pitched.

Kaylee Tow, Elissa Brown and Alexis Mack all scored multiple times in the contest, helping Alabama run-rule LSU.

No. 5 Alabama will next face off against UAB at home on Wednesday, Feb. 24, as they look to extend their undefeated streak.

Montana Fouts named ‘SEC Pitcher of the Week’

Alabama softball pitcher Montana Fouts was named the SEC Pitcher of the Week for her 11 shutout innings, only allowing one hit and one walk.

Alabama softball is on a hot start, as many expected. With a perfect 4-0 record and a run differential of 29-0, the Crimson Tide is rolling.

While the team is playing well and ranked No. 8 in the nation, one player is deserving of a spotlight: junior pitcher Montana Fouts.

Fouts has pitched 11 innings and has only allowed one walk and one hit. She has 20 strikeouts and a combined perfect game under her belt.

The Kentucky native is no stranger to winning awards, and will surely have her named called numerous times throughout the season.

Alabama has taken down Alabama State, Notre Dame and Louisville twice. Next up for the Crimson Tide will be Liberty at home on Friday, Feb. 19.
