Cordarrelle Patterson recruits Khalil Mack, Eric Kendricks to Falcons

#Falcons RB Cordarrelle Patterson wants to see the team sign Khalil Mack and Eric Kendricks

The Atlanta Falcons don’t get a ton of coverage from the national media and they don’t have many big personalities in the locker room, but running back Cordarrelle Patterson is doing everything in his power to change that.

Patterson has spent much of the offseason recruiting potential free agents to Atlanta, and he was back at it again on Monday. This time, Patterson called upon the team to go after linebacker Eric Kendricks and EDGE Khalil Mack.

Kendricks was released by the Minnesota Vikings on Monday, while Mack is expected to be released by the Los Angeles Chargers as a cap casualty.

The Falcons defense recorded just 21 sacks last season and the team will likely use free agency to upgrade this unit in 2023. Both Kendricks and Mack are former All-Pro players, and will likely have their choice of landing spots when the new league year begins on March 15.

Mack arguably makes the most sense for Atlanta, assuming he gets released. The former No. 5 overall pick has accumulated 84.5 sacks since entering the league in 2014.

Tennessee’s all-time wide receivers selected in first round of NFL draft

A look at Tennessee’s all-time wide receivers selected in the first round of the NFL draft.

The 2023 NFL draft will take place April 27-29 in the plaza outside of Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri.

Former Tennessee wide receiver Jalin Hyatt is receiving a first-round projection ahead of the draft. Hyatt won Tennessee’s first Biletnikoff Award last season.

Hyatt would be the first Tennessee wide receiver drafted in the first round since 2013. He would also be the 12th Vols’ wide receiver drafted in the first round.

Cordarrelle Patterson fires up Falcons fans for free agency

#Falcons RB Cordarrelle Patterson has been busy recruiting free agents to Atlanta on Twitter and fans are loving it

The Falcons aren’t participating in Super Bowl LVII, but running back Cordarrelle Patterson has spent the week recruiting free agents on Twitter.

Atlanta is projected to have the second-most available cap space next season, and Patterson is making sure the top free agents know about it. After asking fans who they wanted to see the Falcons sign, Patterson got right to work on the recruiting trail.

Cordarrelle Patterson recruits DL Daron Payne to Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons don’t have many big personalities, but thankfully Cordarrelle Patterson is more than willing to be the voice of the fans. Less than 24 hours after suggesting the Falcons should sign free-agent wide receiver Keenan Allen, Patterson asked fans what defensive player they would like to see the team add.

After many suggested Daron Payne of the Washington Commanders, Patterson called upon the free-agent defensive lineman to come to Atlanta and join Grady Jarrett.

Payne, 25, is a popular name this year in free agency. The former first-round pick recorded 49 pressures and 12 sacks in 2022. Adding another pass-rushing defensive tackle up front next to Jarrett would go a long way in improving Atlanta’s struggling pass rush.

The Falcons recorded just 21 total sacks as a team last season, which is only nine more than Payne recorded on his own.

There are a few other quality defensive line candidates set to hit free agency this offseason, including Dalvin Tomlinson, Javon Hargrave and Marcus Davenport

Cordarrelle Patterson suggests the Falcons sign WR Keenan Allen

Cordarrelle Patterson suggested the #Falcons sign free-agent WR Keenan Allen this offseason

The Falcons could be in for an exciting offseason. Not only did Atlanta poach Saints co-defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen, the team will enter free agency with enough cap space to sign pretty much any player on the market.

Could Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen be a potential target for the Falcons? At least one player would like to see such a move. Running back Cordarrelle Patterson tweeted that Allen would be a nice signing for Atlanta.

Allen, 30, has been one of the most productive receivers in the NFL over the last decade. Since entering the league in 2013, Allen has 796 catches, 9,287 receiving yards and 54 touchdowns.

Originally drafted by the Chargers in the third round of the 2013 NFL draft, Allen has spent his entire career with Los Angeles (formerly San Diego).

Cordarrelle Patterson likes idea of Falcons hiring Brian Flores

Cordarrelle Patterson is in support of the #Falcons potentially hiring Brian Flores as defensive coordinator

The Falcons have an opening at defensive coordinator following Dean Pees‘ retirement and the team has already requested a handful of interviews in search of a replacement.

Brian Flores, Al Holcomb and Ryan Nielsen are among those Atlanta has shown interest in thus far. Flores, the former Dolphins head coach and current Steelers senior defensive assistant, is the popular choice of the fans, and at least one player.

Running back Cordarrelle Patterson tweeted his support for the Falcons potentially hiring Flores as Pees’ successor on Monday.

Five Falcons interview requests have been reported thus far, however, the team’s request to speak with Broncos defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero was denied by Denver.

At head coach Arthur Smith’s end-of-the-season press conference, he stated that the team intends to take its time finding the right coach. So don’t expect the Falcons to hire anyone right away.

As for Patterson, he was named to the NFLPA Players’ All-Pro Team as the starting kick returner after setting a new career record for kick return touchdowns in 2022.

Falcons KR Cordarrelle Patterson voted to Players’ All-Pro Team

#Falcons RB Cordarrelle Patterson was voted to the NFLPA Players’ All-Pro Team as the starting kick returner

After being snubbed for the 2023 Pro Bowl, Falcons running back Cordarrelle Patterson got some recognition from his peers Wednesday when he was named the starting kick returner for the first-ever Players’ All-Pro Team.

Unlike the NFL’s All-Pro and Pro Bowl teams, the Players’ All-Pro Team is voted on exclusively by players, as the NFLPA’s official website explains:

“We asked players across the league to select who had the most impact this season. The players were tasked with voting for the best player at their same position and positions they line up against.”

Patterson broke an NFL record with his ninth career kick return for a 103-yard touchdown during Atlanta’s win over the Bears in Week 11. He averaged 31.6 yards per kick return this season, with one touchdown on nine attempts.

Check out the full NFLPA All-Pro roster below, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

#Falcons injury report: RB Cordarrelle Patterson (rest) did not participate, OL Chuma Edoga limited on Wednesday.

The Atlanta Falcons practiced without running back Cordarrelle Patterson (rest) on Wednesday, but the team is in good shape heading into Saturday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Reserve offensive lineman Chuma Edoga was limited for the second day in a row. Edoga, who missed last week’s game against the Saints due a knee injury, was the only other player on the Falcons’ Wednesday injury report.

As for the Ravens, they practiced without quarterback Lamar Jackson, cornerback Marcus Peters and defensive lineman Calais Campbell for the second straight day on Wednesday.

If Jackson can’t play on Saturday, Atlanta would be getting a huge break as the team tries to stay alive in the NFC South race.
