Texas A&M releases its depth chart ahead of Notre Dame contest with injury notes

The Aggies appear to be fairly healthy heading into the opener against the Irish

If you didn’t know, Notre Dame has battled more than a few injuries during its fall camp.

They lost projected starting left tackle Charles Jagusah early, then recently safety Chance Tucker was lost to an ACL injury. The depth chart reflected that with multiple young players in the two-deep.

As for the Irish’s Week 1 opponent Texas A&M, it looks like they have a pretty good bill of health heading into the opener.

The Aggies released their depth chart on Monday as well, with seemingly only the already known injury to running back Rueben Owens a big concern. What’s interesting about this release is that it’s labeled tentative, which means some battles still be going on for TAMU.

Quarterback [autotag]Conner Weigman[/autotag] will lead the offense, while former Purdue defensive lineman [autotag]Nic Scourton[/autotag] heads the defense as they are set to host the Irish in a primetime matchup.

Texas A&M quarterback Weigman out for season

Aggies quarterback Conner Weigman suffered a leg injury during Saturday’s victory over Auburn, and reports indicate it is worse than initially expected. He will reportedly miss the rest of the season.

Texas A&M sophomore quarterback Conner Weigman will miss the rest of the 2023 season with the leg injury he suffered on Saturday, as first reported by the Houston Chronicle’s Brent Zwerneman.

Weigman went down with a leg injury in the late second quarter after he took a low hit. He stood on his own, but the quarterback was visibly limping and escorted to the locker room by trainers shortly after.

Liucci reported the injury was to a “weight-bearing bone” and would demand a recovery time north of three months.

The Aggies standout has led the SEC in QBR the entire season, posting an 87.8 mark for the year, 4th-best in the country. He’s thrown for eight touchdowns, run for two more, and only thrown two interceptions. He’s completed 68.9% of his passes for 979 yards, averaging 8.2 yards per attempt.

The Aggies now turn to Max Johnson, the former LSU starter. Johnson completed 7 of his 11 passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns against Auburn, earning a QBR of 96.2 in relief of Weigman. His first test as a starter will come against Arkansas on Saturday.

Weigman increases QBR lead on other SEC quarterbacks

Weigman, the Texas A&M sophomore standout, is the only quarterback with a QBR higher than 90 for the season through Week 4.

Through three weeks in the SEC, according to ESPN’s QBR, every quarterback in the conference is chasing Texas A&M‘s Conner Weigman. The sophomore extended his lead over the next-closest passer in the conference to more than seven points after another efficient performance in Week 3.

How do the quarterbacks of some conference juggernauts like Georgia and Alabama compare? Who is the closest to catching Weigman?

Here’s our second weekly look at how the conference’s starters rank in terms of QBR.

Texas A&M’s Weigman leads SEC in QBR through two games

With conference games around the corner, a look at which SEC quarterbacks are off to the best start.

The SEC’s first conference games of the season happen this Saturday. With the premier teams in the conference set to do battle over the coming months, a lot of the weight on the conference’s future rests on the shoulders of each team’s signal-callers.

Most of the conference’s prominent quarterbacks from the last couple of seasons, be it Alabama‘s Bryce Young or Georgia‘s Stetson Bennett, have left for the greener pastures of the National Football League. So, through two weeks, which quarterbacks are set to take their place? It’s too early to tell through the first two weeks of competition, but some throwers have set themselves up better than others.

Here’s our first weekly recap on the conference leaders in QBR, according to ESPN.

Predicting each SEC starting quarterback for 2022

Who will be Auburn’s starting quarterback in 2022? Here is a projection:

The SEC is going to be loaded at quarterback in 2022.

While only half of the conference’s starters from 2021 will be returning for next season, there will be several names that have also transferred in that will be interesting to watch (Spencer Rattler to South Carolina, Zach Calzada to Auburn, Jack Miller to Florida, and whoever eventually transfers to Ole Miss).

I’m looking forward to the progression from the signal-callers that started this past season, however. 2021 was a year starved of elite quarterback play across the college football landscape. Watching some of the conference’s experienced QB’s continue to improve will be fun to see.

With all of that being said, here is every SEC team’s projected starting quarterback for the 2022 season.
