Betting lines predict a Colorado-Utah nailbiter

Will we see a close game tonight?

Personally, I was quite surprised to see Utah favored (albeit slightly) over the Buffaloes in their Pac-12 regular season finale.

After Colorado beat a strong Arizona team last week, there still seems to be little confidence around the Buffs. Perhaps their losses to Arizona State, Washington and WSU are still lingering in the minds of many oddsmakers.

Another factor going into Saturday’s game is that Colorado hasn’t fared well at the Jon M. Hunstman Center. Prior to last season’s 65-58 win, the Buffs hadn’t won in Salt Lake City since 2012. But this year’s Utes have taken another giant step back as they’re just 4-15 in Pac-12 play, which included a 10-game losing streak.

Colorado, meanwhile, has a critical spot in the standings up for grabs on the final day of the regular season. Unless Oregon falls to Washington State in a 2 p.m. MT matinee, the Buffs will have to beat Utah to secure fourth place in the Pac-12 and a first round bye in the conference tourney.

I’ll take the Buffs over the 11th place team in the Pac-12.

Colorado at Oregon State: How to watch and betting info/analysis

Everything you need to know for Colorado vs. Oregon State

The Buffs and Beavs are reuniting for a rescheduled rematch on Tuesday exactly 10 days after CU’s 23-point win on Feb. 5. If all goes well again this time in Corvallis, Colorado could be riding a three-game winning streak into their final stretch of regular season games.

As we detailed in our three keys to the game, Colorado has to keep it simple against the undisputed worst team in the conference.

Here’s everything else you need to know ahead of this Tuesday night matchup:

How to watch/listen/stream Colorado vs. Utah:

  • Location: Gill Coliseum (Corvallis, OR)
  • Date: Tuesday, Feb. 15
  • Time: 7:00 p.m. MT (6:00 p.m. PT)
  • Broadcast: Pac-12 Network (Roxy Bernstein, Bill Walton)
  • Local Radio: KOA 850 AM & 94.1 FM (Mark Johnson, Scott Wilke)
  • Live Stream: fuboTV (try it free)

All Betting Lines are Courtesy of Tipico Sportsbook

  • Line: Colorado -3.5
  • Over/Under: 137.5
  • Moneyline: Colorado (-190), Oregon State (+155)

That’s a closer line than what most CU fans would like to see. When these squads last met 10 days ago, the Buffs were favored by a healthy 8.5 points. So what has changed? Well, OSU having homecourt advantage obviously helps, but the Beavs are also coming off a pair of stronger performances, albeit both losses, against Cal and Stanford.

Colorado hasn’t taken a step back in any manner and is also riding some momentum after a strong second half vs. Utah. Yes, the Buffs’ bench is certainly thin, but that hasn’t stopped the black and gold from scoring over 80 points in their last two games. But because the Buffs are a different looking offensive team on the road, I don’t see this being a particularly high-scoring affair.

Colorado at Oregon: Betting lines and odds

The Buffs are underdogs in Eugene

[mm-video type=playlist id=01fc3h5x4enxt6nsr4 player_id=none image=https://coloradobuffaloeswire.usatoday.com/wp-content/plugins/mm-video/images/playlist-icon.png]

Playing in a tough road environment at Matthew Knight Arena, the 9-3 Colorado Buffaloes are 7.5-point dogs in a rare Monday night matchup against the 8-6 Oregon Ducks. For me, that unfavorable line for Colorado is a bit large. This is definitely a winnable game for the Buffs, but what does scare me is that they haven’t played since Dec. 18. Needless to say, there will be rust to remove.

The Ducks, meanwhile, faced Utah on Saturday and erased a nine-point second half deficit in their eventual 79-66 win. Both Will Richardson and Jacob Young scored a season-high in points in that affair.

Looking at mutual opponents, Colorado holds the upper hand as the Buffs beat Stanford 80-76 back in November. Oregon played the Cardinal more recently on Dec. 12 and lost, 72-69.

Betting lines for Colorado vs. No. 7 Kansas

No. 7 Kansas is heavily favored against Colorado

Tad Boyle has upset Kansas in Boulder before, but that doesn’t mean much for the oddsmakers, apparently. Even with what should be a packed CU Events Center, the No. 7 Jayhawks are favored by a considerable amount for Tuesday night’s matchup.

The 9-1 Jayhawks’ only loss of the season came against Dayton but other than that, none of their other games have been particularly close. Kansas guard Ochai Agbaji, who is averaging over 20 points, should give the Buffs everything they can handle and as a unit, Kansas is shooting 51.9% from the field this season, which is scary.

Based on what we’ve learned against the elites of UCLA and Tennessee, the Buffs will have to play lockdown defense in the paint while keeping Evan Battey and Jabari Walker out of foul trouble. Yes, Kansas is a different beast, but let’s hope the Buffs can use those big game experiences wisely.

Final betting lines and analysis for No. 13 Tennessee at Colorado

Betting lines and analysis for Colorado and No. 13 Tennessee

We are just hours away from another big early-season test for the Buffaloes. After watching Colorado battle Stanford and No. 5 UCLA (at least in the second half), I am feeling much more confident with No. 13 Tennesse coming to Boulder.

But even with home court advantage, the Buffs will have to play their best game of the season to take down the Vols. As of Saturday morning, Tennessee is favored, but not by much.

All Betting Lines are Courtesy of Tipico Sportsbook

  • Line: Tennessee -5.5
  • Over/Under: 136.5
  • Moneyline: Colorado (+200), Tennessee (-250)

If the Buffs can hold Tennesse under its season average of 47.3% from the field and keep Battey out of foul trouble, a Colorado upset is more than possible. Saturday will also mark the Vols’ first true road game of the season, which should be a huge advantage for the Buffs.

In last year’s Knoxville meeting, the Buffs fell behind 16 in the first half and although they trimmed that deficit to five late in the game, they ultimately fell 56-47. Keeshawn Barthelemy, who started alongside McKinley Wright IV in that game, led all returning players with seven points. Evan Battey, Jabari Walker, Nique Clifford and Tristan da Silva also got a taste of Tennesse and I’m hoping that experience will carry over well.

There will be little margin for error in this year’s matchup, however, with Santiago Vescovi dominating again and freshman Kennedy Chandler joining the Vols’ backcourt.

Betting lines and analysis for Colorado vs. No. 5 UCLA

Betting lines for Colorado at No. 5 UCLA

We’re just hours away from the Colorado Buffaloes’ biggest challenge so far this season in No. 5 UCLA. A win for Tad Boyle’s young squad would be a massive upset in the world of college basketball.

Yet the Buffs did beat these Bruins 70-61 in the waning days of last season. However, that was before UCLA shocked many in its run to the NCAA Final Four.

Both Colorado and UCLA enter this early season Pac-12 matchup at 6-1. The Buffs’ lone blemish remains courtesy of Southern Illinois while UCLA’s was a little more respectable — an 83-63 defeat to then-No. 1 Gonzaga. With all that in mind, the Bruins are favored somewhat heavily as of Wednesday morning.

All Betting Lines are Courtesy of Tipico Sportsbook

  • Line: UCLA -12.5
  • Over/Under: 139.5
  • Moneyline: Colorado (+570), UCLA (-900)

As you can see, the Bruins are expected to handle this one easily in a high-scoring affair. We haven’t yet seen Colorado in a true road environment and facing UCLA at Pauley Pavilion should be a good barometer of where this young team is at.

For the Buffs to win, they’ll have to play better defensively than they did against Stanford and somehow contain Johnny Juzang, who is averaging 17.4 points. Jamie Jaquez Jr. leads the Bruins with 6.7 rebounds per game, but I am confident Jabari Walker and Evan Battey can make his life hard on the boards.

Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m. MT (6:30 p.m. PT) on the Pac-12 Network.
