The Colorado Avalanche (47-22-6) and Minnesota Wild (36-28-10) tangle Thursday in Minneapolis. The opening faceoff at Xcel Energy Center is slated for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Avalanche vs. Wild odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: Avs lead 2-0 after winning a pair of 1-goal games

Colorado lost 4-1 at the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday. The now-in-2nd-place-in-the-Central Avs are just 1-2-1 over their last 4 games and have been surpassed by the streaking Dallas Stars for the top spot in the division.

Minnesota, which is 0-1-1 against Colorado and and 1-3-1 across its last 5 games against the Avs, is playing its 5th straight game at home. The Wild last played Tuesday, taking down the Ottawa Senators 3-2. Minnesota is 2-0-2 on its homestand.

Avalanche at Wild projected goalies

Alexandar Georgiev (37-15-4, 2.85 GAA, .901 SV%) vs. Marc-Andre Fleury (17-12-5, 2.83 GAA, .901 SV%)

Georgiev was pulled in his last start (March 30 vs. Nashville Predators) after allowing 4 goals in 21 minutes. The Avs netminder has faced Minnesota 5 times over the last 2 seasons, logging a sparkling .932 SV%.

Fleury struggled in his 2 previous outings, but was sharp in allowing just 2 power-play goals in Tuesday’s win over the Sens. The veteran registered 30 saves in the game.

Avalanche at Wild picks and predictions

Prediction

Avalanche 3, Wild 2

Moneyline

Look for a bounce-back effort from the Avalanche in this game. They have been a bit shot-and-save unlucky in 5-on-5 high-danger chances of late.

The Avs are 6-2-1 across their last 9 against the Wild and that includes 3 straight wins in Minneapolis.

FanDuel Sportsbook offers a better leverage price here. BACK COLORADO -162.

Puck line/Against the spread

STEER CLEAR: Colorado’s last 3 wins over Minnesota have been by 1-goal margins.

Over/Under

The Under is 3-1 across the last 4 series meetings and is 6-2 in Minnesota’s last 8 games.

Both teams have been responsible in shutting down 5-on-5 chances recently. Expect some goaltenders-being undervalued aspect to the public’s betting.

BACK THE UNDER 6 (+100).

Colorado Avalanche at Minnesota Wild odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Colorado Avalanche at Minnesota Wild odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Colorado Avalanche (28-19-5) meet the Minnesota Wild (28-20-5) Wednesday at XCel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn. Puck drop is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. (TNT). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Avalanche vs. Wild odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Avalanche were tripped up 4-3 in a shootout in Denver Tuesday night and now face the quick turnaround to the Twin Cities. Colorado has managed a 2-2-2 mark in the last 6 games, including 1-1-1 in the last 3 road outings.

The Wild are on a 1-3-1 skid in the 5 games since the All-Star break, including a 3-2 SOL against the visiting Florida Panthers on Monday. The Under is on a 7-1 run in the last 8 games for Minnesota.

Avalanche at Wild projected goalies

Alexandar Georgiev (21-12-3, 2.68 GAA, .918 SV%, 2 SO) vs. Marc-Andre Fleury (16-12-3, 2.98 GAA, .902 SV%, 1 SO)

Georgiev is likely to be pressed into back-to-back duty, as Pavel Francouz is expected to miss multiple weeks due to a lower-body injury. Jonas Johansson could be an option to give the starter a breather, but he has been limited to a lone appearance this season at the NHL level.

Fleury allowed 5 goals on 23 shots through 2 periods last time out on Thursday against the Vegas Golden Knights. He has allowed 8 goals on 59 shots in 2 starts in February to date, both losses.

Avalanche at Wild picks and predictions

Prediction

Avalanche 3, Wild 2

Moneyline

The AVALANCHE (+115) are in a tough spot with the quick turnaround after playing at home Tuesday night. However, the Wild (-135) are too risky, as Fleury has been very giving in a pair of starts against Vegas and Arizona since returning from the All-Star break.

Colorado has posted a 4-1 mark in the last 5 games against winning teams, while going 17-7 in the last 24 games inside the Central Division, while going 16-5 in the last 21 games when playing on no rest.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Avalanche +1.5 (-220) will cost you over 2 times your potential return, and that’s just too risky. If you like Colorado, play it straight up or don’t bother.

AVOID.

Over/Under

The UNDER 5.5 (+110) is a strong play at plus-money.

The Under is 11-1-1 in the last 13 home games for the Wild, while going 4-1 in the last 5 games against teams with a winning overall record.

The Under is 19-7-2 in the last 28 road games for the Avalanche, while going 10-3 in the last 13 games when playing on no rest. The Under is 8-1-1 in the last 10 for the Avs inside the Central Division, too.

Colorado Avalanche at Minnesota Wild odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Colorado Avalanche at Minnesota Wild NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Colorado Avalanche (26-8-4) play Game 2 of a two-game set at the Minnesota Wild (23-12-2) Wednesday with a 9 p.m. ET puck drop at Xcel Energy Center. Below, we analyze the Avalanche-Wild odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Avalanche outmuscled the Wild by a 5-4 score Monday in the front end of the double dip. They have won five consecutive games, and they’re averaging 4.8 goals per game during the five-game win streak while yielding 2.4 goals per outing.

The Wild are looking to snap a personal three-game losing skid to the Avalanche. Minnesota made its closest pass Monday, losing 5-4 after getting destroyed by a combined 11-1 score in a two-game sweep in Denver in mid-March.

Avalanche at Wild: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 12:50 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Avalanche -190 (bet $190 to win $100) | Wild +160 (bet $100 to win $160)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Avalanche -1.5 (+135) | Wild +1.5 (-160)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -125 | U: +105)

Avalanche at Wild: Projected starting goalies

Philipp Grubauer (24-7-1, 1.83 GAA, .926 SV%, 5 SO) vs. Cam Talbot (11-6-2, 2.41 GAA, .924 SV%, 2 SO)

Grubauer has won four consecutive starts, although he certainly allowed more goals (4) than usual in the front end of this double dip. He has a career-high 24 wins, and he has made a living off of the Wild. Grubauer improved to 5-1-0 with a 2.01 GAA and .919 SV% with one shutout in six starts vs. Minnesota this season.

Talbot lost in regulation Monday for the first time since March 18, which also just happened to be in Denver against the Avalanche. He is 7-0-1 since March 12 if you take out his two starts against Colorado. Talbot is 1-3-0 with a 3.79 GAA and .898 SV% in four starts against the Avalanche this season.

Avalanche at Wild: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Avalanche 5, Wild 3

Money line (ML)

The AVALANCHE (-190) are a little on the pricey side, but I’ll make an exception to go over my usual limit of -180. Colorado has just been on fire lately, winning five in a row with powerful displays of offense. However, I like the money line better than the puck line as each of the past three wins have been by one goal.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The Avalanche -1.5 (+135) have won five in a row, but they haven’t covered the puck line in each of the past three. Just play the money line.

PASS.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 5.5 (-125) is just 3-2 in the past five overall for the Avalanche, but 9-3 across the past 12 games. That includes each of their past three meetings with the Wild. Minnesota has also cashed the Over in three of the past five overall.

Colorado Avalanche at Minnesota Wild odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Colorado Avalanche at Minnesota Wild NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Colorado Avalanche (25-8-4) play the first half of a two-game set at the Minnesota Wild (23-11-2) Monday with an 8 p.m. ET puck drop at Xcel Energy Center. Below, we analyze the Avalanche-Wild odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Avalanche streak into this game with four consecutive victories, and they haven’t lost in regulation in 14 straight outings dating back to March 8 against the Arizona Coyotes. That includes a two-game sweep of the Wild in Denver March 18 and 20 by a combined score of 11-1.

The Wild are coming off a two-game sweep on the road against the Vegas Golden Knights, outscoring the opposition by a 5-3 count. Minnesota has also lost just once in regulation across its past seven outings since that two-game sweep in Denver.

Avalanche at Wild: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 11:05 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Avalanche -165 (bet $165 to win $100) | Wild +140 (bet $100 to win $140)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Avalanche -1.5 (+155) | Wild +1.5 (-190)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Avalanche at Wild: Projected starting goalies

Philipp Grubauer (23-7-1, 1.76 GAA, .929 SV%, 5 SO) vs. Cam Talbot (11-5-2, 2.26 GAA, .928 SV%, 2 SO)

Grubauer enters on a three-game win streak, and he has picked up victories in 10 of his past 11 starts with a win in relief during the span, too. He was between the pipes for the aforementioned two-game sweep of the Wild, turning aside 50 of the 51 shots he faced, including his fifth shutout of the season in the second outing.

Talbot has won back-to-back games to start April, both against Vegas. He has victories in five of his past six games with no losses in regulation during that span. He is just 1-2-0 with a 3.35 goals against average and .910 save percentage in three starts against the Avalanche this season.

Avalanche at Wild: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Avalanche 3, Wild 1

Money line (ML)

The AVALANCHE (-165) are worth a look as moderate favorites.

Colorado has dominated Minnesota this season, and Grubauer is red-hot against the Wild. Until that changes, keep fading Minnesota.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The AVALANCHE -1.5 (+155) are a tempting play at this price level. They won by at least 2 goals in three of their four victories against the Wild this season.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 5.5 (-105) is the way to go, as Grubauer has been amazing lately, and Talbot has been pretty strong for the Wild, too. Goals should be at a premium in St. Paul.

The Under is 5-2 in Minnesota’s past seven games, and 7-2 across Talbot’s past nine starts. The Under hit in the past two games for the Avs.

Colorado Avalanche at Minnesota Wild odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Sunday’s Colorado Avalanche at Minnesota Wild NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Colorado Avalanche (6-3-0) and Minnesota Wild (5-4-0) play the second half of their back-to-back Sunday at Xcel Energy Center. The puck drop is set for 8 p.m. ET following Colorado’s 5-1 win Saturday. Below, we analyze the Avalanche-Wild NHL odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Avalanche at Wild: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 10:35 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Avalanche -155 (bet $155 to win $100) | Wild +130 (bet $100 to win $130)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Avalanche -1.5 (+170) | Wild +1.5 (-200)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: +100 | U: -120)

Avalanche at Wild: Projected starting goalies

Hunter Miska (0-1-0, .885 SV%, 3.10 GAA) vs. Cam Talbot (2-1-0, .925 SV%, 2.34 GAA)

Miska, 25, will make his second career NHL start after stopping 23 of 26 shots in a road loss against the Los Angeles Kings Jan. 21. It’s a homecoming of sorts for Miska, who’s from North Branch, Minnesota.

Talbot stopped 11 of 12 shots in a 4-1 Wild win over the San Jose Sharks in his last appearance. He left after the first period due to a lower-body injury. The veteran is 4-2-0 against the Avs for his career but with an unimpressive .884 save percentage and 3.31 goals against average.

Avalanche at Wild: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Wild 4, Avalanche 3

Money line (ML)

Take the WILD (+130) for an upset on home ice after they took a 5-1 loss Saturday. The Avalanche are pivoting to their inexperienced third-string goalie and the injury absence of D Devon Toews (foot) will now have a greater impact than it did for veteran Philipp Grubauer.

The Avs outshot the Wild 33-20 Saturday and went 2-for-7 on the power play while Minnesota failed to score on either of just two chances with the man advantage.

Minnesota takes the sixth-most minutes in penalties per game at 11.3 but Colorado also averages 8.7 penalty minutes per game. A better-disciplined effort from Wild head coach Dean Evason’s bunch will help keep the Avs offense in check.

The Wild are second-to-last in the NHL with a power-play percentage of just 5.56, but there’s some natural progression coming for that unit. Expect it to come against the inexperienced Miska.

Against the spread (ATS)

Grab some insurance with WILD +1.5 (-200) following Saturday’s shellacking. Colorado and Minnesota rank third and eighth, respectively, in scoring chances for at 5-on-5. Some better goaltending for the Wild and a few more chances against Miska will help flip the script from Saturday.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the OVER 6 (+100) after Saturday’s goal total of 6 topped a line of 5.5. Both teams are at the top of the league in generating scoring chances at full strength and the Wild should see a boost in conversion against Miska.
