The Colorado Avalanche (39-22-6) wrap up a 4-game road trip Saturday against the Detroit Red Wings (30-28-9) at Little Caesars Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET (NHL Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Avalanche vs. Red Wings odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.
The Avalanche picked up a 5-4 road win against the Ottawa Senators Thursday and are a perfect 3-for-3 on the road trip. Colorado has won 4 straight games while alternating the Over and Under in the past 6 outings.
The Red Wings were tripped up 2-1 at the Nashville Predators Thursday and are 2-7-1 across the past 10 outings. The Under and Over have alternated in the past 5 games for Detroit.
Colorado recorded a 6-3 victory as a -198 home favorite when these teams met on Jan. 16 as the Over (6.5) cashed.

Avalanche at Red Wings projected goalies
Alexandar Georgiev (30-14-5, 2.61 GAA, .916 SV%, 4 SO) vs. Ville Husso (25-17-6, 2.92 GAA, .903 SV%, 3 SO)
Georgiev picked up the win Wednesday in Toronto, standing tall in the 2-1 shootout victory. He has won 3 straight starts, improving to 4-2-1 with a 2.87 GAA and .877 SV% with a shutout in 7 outings in March.
Husso was on the short end of the 2-1 loss in Nashville. He wasn’t tested much by the Predators, stopping 14 of just 16 shots, but he received next to nothing in terms of offensive support. Husso is now 2-2-1 with a 3.0 GAA and .894 SV% in 5 starts in March.

Avalanche at Red Wings picks and predictions
Prediction
Avalanche 4, Red Wings 2
Moneyline
The AVALANCHE (-175) is slightly below my personal limit for a singular moneyline play of -180. The way Colorado has played on its road trip makes it a solid bet either on the moneyline or the puck line.
The Red Wings have been struggling lately, going just 2-7-1 in the past 10 games. They cannot be trusted to slow down the defending Cup winners, as the Avs are rounding into championship form lately.
Puck line/Against the spread
The AVALANCHE -1.5 (+145) are worth a look on the puck line at plus money.
Colorado has won its last 2 games by a single goal, but it is 5-4 on the puck line in the past 9 games when favored.
The Red Wings are 4-5 in the past 9 games on the puck line as an underdog.
Over/Under
The UNDER 6.5 (-120) is the lean, but go lightly with a half-unit play at most.
The Under is 20-8-3 in the past 31 road games for the Avs, although the Over is 5-1 in their last 6 against the Eastern Conference and 8-2 in their last 10 against the Atlantic Division.
The Over has dominated for the Red Wings lately, going 6-1-1 in the past 8 against Western Conference foes, and 4-1 in the past 5 when playing a team from the Central Division. Still, it’s hard to see this offense generating much against the red-hot Avs.
