Nuggets’ Collin Gillespie is shooting once again after leg fracture

Gillespie was seen putting up shots after practice on Wednesday and appears to be progressing in his recovery from a leg fracture.

Denver Nuggets guard Collin Gillespie appears to be progressing in his recovery from a left leg fracture. The undrafted rookie from Villanova was spotted doing some shooting on Wednesday.

Gillespie sustained the injury in July while helping at a team practice at Villanova. He underwent surgery on July 29 to repair the injury, and he has not yet suited up this season with the Nuggets.

His father said at the time he could be cleared to return in 5-6 months.

Gillespie was seen doing some light on-court work after practice, via DNVR Sports. He has been spotted on the court more frequently of late, likely a sign he is on track in his rehab process.

The Nuggets signed Gillespie to a two-way contract despite the injury. The organization was thrilled to sign him after the NBA draft and planned to support him throughout his injury recovery as he is a favorite of head coach Michael Malone.

Gillespie was named a third-team All-American last season after averaging 15.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists and one steal as a fifth-year senior. He finished as the all-time program leader in games played (156) and the No. 12 scorer with 1,858 points.

He had a strong showing in the Las Vegas Summer League with the Nuggets, averaging 11.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.5 steals in four games. He scored in double figures three times and had his best game on July 10 with 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists.
