Predicting what the final College Football Playoff Rankings will be

Our best stab at what we believe the CFP rankings will look like when unveiled on Sunday. Is Ohio State in, and at what ranking? #GoBucks

Well, it’s that time. The 2022 regular season, including the conference championship games, is in the books. That means it’s time to figure out which four teams are going to play for it all in this year’s College Football Playoff.

The final CFP rankings will be revealed on Sunday and there’s a very, very good chance Ohio State will be somewhere in the mix after both USC and TCU lost their respective conference title games. You have to think that the top four will be Georgia, Michigan, TCU and Ohio State in some order, but there is an outside chance that Alabama sneaks into it. Sorry Tennessee fans, no dice despite your optimism and crazy arguments.

But before the big reveal on ESPN on Sunday, we’re giving you a preview of what we believe the CFP rankings will look like ahead of time. It can be a daunting task because of the zany things we’ve seen from this committee in the past, but we love a good challenge and have been pretty close to being right on these things this season, so we’re up for it.

Here is a look at what we believe the CFP top 25 will look like when all the dust settles Sunday.

Predicting what the first release of the College Football Playoff rankings will be

We take a stab at predicting what the first release of the 2022 College Football Playoff rankings will be when announced on Tuesday. #CFBPlayoff

It’s finally here — well, almost. We’ve been observing, watching, and opining on what teams are the ones that will be a part of the four teams in the College Football Playoff since before the 2022 college football season started. And so far, all we’ve had to go on are opinion makers and the two traditional polls.

But that’s all about to change. On Tuesday, the first release of the 2022 College Football Playoff rankings will be revealed and Ohio State, Georgia, Tennessee, Michigan and Clemson will be very interested to see what the baseline will be as they try to get into all the postseason fun.

It’s just around the corner, but we’re not waiting. Instead, we are forging ahead and attempting to figure this all out before the CFP committee releases its official rankings. It can be hard to figure out what the committee will do, but we’ll do our best to try and use the precedent that’s been used so far — even though that seems to be a moving target year over year — aside from SEC teams always getting the benefit of the doubt.

Here is our best stab at predicting what you might see when the first release of the 2022 College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday. We count down from No. 25 to No. 1.

What the College Football Playoff rankings would have looked like after Week 2

We’re tracking our own opinion on what the College Football Playoff Rankings might have looked like after Week 2. What about Ohio State?

Here at Buckeyes wire, we’re fond of speculating on things that are hard to figure out. And in the case of the College Football Playoff rankings, those don’t come out until much later in the season to allow some of the dust to settle and cement harden on the season.

For all the missteps, contradictory methods, and thinking that goes into how the CFP committee ranks teams, it at least got holding off on rankings until later in the season right. So, while you may have to wait until November 2 to get your first look at where teams stand officially, we do it unofficially every week leading up to it.

And with so many upsets so young in the season (we’re looking at you Ohio State), there are plenty of changes from when we did this last week. We only look mainly at the top ten based on what we’ve seen so far and reshuffle as we get some new things to look at.

Here’s what we see after peering in our crystal ball with what the College Football Playoff Rankings would have (okay, could have) been after two full weeks of chaos.
