First look: Akron at Ohio State odds and lines

Previewing the Akron at Ohio State Week 4 matchup, with college football odds, trends and head-to-head records.

The Akron Zips (1-2) visit the Ohio State Buckeyes (2-1) in a Saturday night non-conference affair at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Akron vs. Ohio State odds and lines; check back for our college football picks and predictions.

Akron is coming off its first win of the season, a 35-14 triumph over FCS Bryant. That game was closer than the final score would reveal: the Zips and Bulldogs went into the fourth quarter tied at 14-14. UA played an all-Mid-American Conference schedule in 2020 and went 1-5 with 41.3 points per game allowed (122nd FBS).

Ohio State was looking to bounce back from its Sept. 11 setback against Oregon against Tulsa last week but for a third time this season, the Buckeyes defense struggled and OSU escaped a late-game one-score spread in an eventual 41-20 victory. Ohio State allowed 501 yards in the game and the Buckeyes rank 118th in the nation with 471.3 yards per game allowed.

The Michigan State Spartans (2-0) travel to Hard Rock Stadium to face the Miami Hurricanes (1-1) Saturday at noon ET. Below, we look at the Michigan State at Miami odds and lines; check back for our college football picks and predictions.

It’s been a rough start for a Miami team that got thrashed by No. 1 Alabama in its opener, then barely squeaked by Appalachian State 25-23 last week. Star QB D’Eriq King hasn’t been able to get rolling thus far; he’s thrown more interceptions (2) than TDs (1) with only 379 passing yards over two games.

Michigan State has dominated its first two games behind a fierce rushing attack. RB Kenneth Walker III has averaged 10.7 yards per rush with 5 TDs over 30 carries in convincing wins against Northwestern (38-21) and Youngstown State (42-14).

First look: New Mexico at Texas A&M odds and lines

Previewing the New Mexico at Texas A&M Week 3 matchup, with college football odds, trends and head-to-head records.

The New Mexico Lobos (2-0) head to Kyle Field in College Station, Texas, to face the No. 5 Texas A&M Aggies (2-0) Saturday at 12:00 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the New Mexico at Texas A&M odds and lines; check back for our college football picks and predictions.

Texas A&M needed a fourth-quarter touchdown to beat Colorado 10-7 last week. The defense was stout with just 262 total yards allowed, but the offense struggled once starting QB Haynes King left the game early. King suffered a broken ankle and is likely out until mid-October. Backup Zane Calzada went 18-for-38 with 183 yards and 1 TD in King’s absence.

New Mexico has wins over Houston Baptist and New Mexico State, but it failed to cover the spread in either of those contests. The Lobos have one of the wider offense/defense splits you’ll find. The offense has just 308 total yards combined in its first two games, but the defense has picked up the slack with 93.5 yards allowed per game and -9 total rushing yards allowed on the season.
