First and foremost is the Gators’ perimeter game at both ends. Florida defends 3s at a top-40 level (33.8%) and is on a roll knocking them down on offense (36.1% over last 7 games).

The ability to extend possessions with strong offensive rebounding and steal away opponent looks with turnovers forced are other key difference makers.

North Carolina plays an up-tempo style. KenPom pegs UNC’s adjusted tempo as fifth-fastest in the nation. But the Gators have handled speed effectively before this season, both in collecting straight-up and ATS wins.

Give Oakland credit—they’ve really stepped up their non-conference schedule this season, taking on tough teams like the Kansas Jayhawks, Illinois Fighting Illini, Boise State Broncos, and now Michigan State. The Spartans have won every matchup against Oakland since 2014, but the Golden Grizzlies have kept it close, covering the spread in 7 of the last 10 meetings.

Oakland averages just 10 turnovers per game, good for 54th in the country. On the other side, Michigan State has been hit or miss ATS this year, sitting at 5-4. When favored by 16.5 points or more, they’ve only covered once in 3 games.

The Spartans’ biggest issue is 3-point shooting. They’re hitting just 27.7% from deep, which ranks a brutal 339th in the country. It’s hard to trust them to cover a big number when they struggle so much from long range.

Michigan State has also lost their last 4 night games at neutral sites, while Oakland has won 5 of their last 6 in those spots.

The Golden Grizzlies don’t make a lot of mistakes, and Michigan State’s shooting woes could make it tough for them to pull away. Oakland has a knack for hanging around in games like this, and there’s a good chance they keep it closer than the spread.
