Oregon baseball to participate in 2024 tournament at Globe Life Field

The Oregon baseball program will open the 2024 season in style as it will play in the College Showdown at Globe Life Field Feb. 16-18, 2024.

The Texas Rangers have made good use of their relatively new stadium of Globe Life Field since it opened in 2020.

Major League Baseball held both league championships there and the World Series due to the pandemic. The facility has also been host to “The College Baseball Showdown,” a tournament with the top baseball programs in the country. In 2024, the Oregon Ducks will be a participant in the tourney that will be held Feb. 16-18, 2024.

Sponsored by Shriners Children, the tournament will also have Baylor, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas Tech.

“The Oregon Ducks can’t wait to open up the 2024 college baseball season at Globe Life Field for the Shriners Children’s College Baseball Showdown,” Ducks head coach Mark Wasikowski said in a press release. “It’s going to be an awesome experience with the people out there in Texas. We can’t wait to see our fans come pack the house and root the Ducks on. We can’t wait to get down there.”

This year’s Ducks are fighting for a possible NCAA Regional as they are currently 31-16 overall and 14-10 in Pac-12 play. They have one more regular season series at home against Washington this weekend before closing it out at Utah next week.

In their finale from Arlington, the Diamond Hogs shined. Here’s the best photos from their appearance in the College Baseball Showdown.

Arkansas baseball was able to bounce back from a tough loss on Saturday, and destroyed the No. 9 Oklahoma State Cowboys 18-1 in a run-ruled seven innings. The Diamond Hogs finished their weekend 2-1 with a 3-2 win over Texas on Friday and the 18-1 win over  Oklahoma State yesterday. Their lone loss was 18-6 to No. 15 TCU on Saturday.

“What a great job by the team bouncing back after a tough loss yesterday,” Arkansas head coach [autotag]Dave Van Horn[/autotag] said. “You learn a lot about your team a lot of times after a bad loss or even just a loss. I told the team it was a great weekend as far as learning.”

In the win against the Cowboys, starting pitcher [autotag]Hunter Hollan[/autotag] allowed just one run on three hits, stuck out five batters and walked just two in four innings of action.

Transfer left fielder [autotag]Jared Wegner[/autotag] continued his impressive start to the season going 2-for-4 with a triple, homerun and 5 RBIs to lead the high-octane Razorback offense.

Postgame observations from Arkansas’ 18-1 rout of Oklahoma State

Arkansas baseball made quick work of Oklahoma State on Sunday. Here’s some observations from the 18-1 blow out.

In their 18-6 loss to No. 15 TCU on Saturday night, the Arkansas bats struggled to come alive through nine innings.

There was no such problem at all on Sunday when the No. 8 Razorbacks beat the brakes off of the No. 9 Oklahoma State Cowboys, 18-1 in a run-rule seven inning victory.

“You learn a lot about your team a lot times after a bad loss,” said head coach [autotag]Dave Van Horn[/autotag]. “They showed a lot of – I don’t know the word I’m trying to use – I always thought we were tough, so I don’t really want to use the word toughness. I don’t question that one bit.”

Arkansas really broke the game wide open in the second inning when they were able to tally five runs against Cowboys starting pitcher Bayden Root. After a five-run second inning, the Razorbacks put the game away in the third after adding another fiver runs to make it 10-0.

Here’s a closer look at what all went right for the Razorbacks in the finale from Arlington’s [autotag]College Baseball Showdown[/autotag].

Arkansas Baseball: The most important series of the season

A look at the most important series for the Hogs on the diamond.

Our editor, E. Wayne shared a breakdown of each series for the Arkansas Razorbacks on the baseball diamond, but now it’s time to look at which series are most vital to the Hogs season.

A lot of the Hogs success this season will depend on how they favor in the SEC with six teams ranked within the top-ten.

The SEC is definitely going to be the most challenging part of the season for the Hogs as they look to make it to the College World Series for the second straight season. The gem of the non-conference schedule of course is the College Baseball Showdown to open the 2023 season, but after that, the Hogs have a comforting non-conference schedule.
