WATCH: Wisconsin QB gives fantastic Taylor Swift performance

The title speaks for itself. Wisconsin freshman quarterback Cole LaCrue led a karaoke sing-along to Taylor Swift’s ‘You Belong With Me’

The title speaks for itself. Wisconsin freshman quarterback Cole LaCrue led a karaoke sing-along to Taylor Swift’s ‘You Belong With Me’ earlier this week. Wisconsin posted the video on ‘X,’ and it’s safe to say many reacted.

Taylor Swift has swept the nation with her ‘The Era’s Tour’ in the last year, stopping at nearly every big venue in the country. The fanfare that comes with her concerts is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. I guess now we can say it’s persisted into our world of Wisconsin football.

Not much else to say without showing the video from the Wisconsin building. Enjoy:

If you need to get any non-college football fan who loves Taylor Swift to care about the Badgers, this might be the video to show them.

Cole LaCrue led Wisconsin’s football team in a delightful Taylor Swift sing-along

We’re looking forward to the fans at Camp Randall chanting, “SHE WEARS SHORT SKIRTS, I WEAR T-SHIRTS.”

Chances are that your favorite football player is an unapologetic Swiftie.

Since Taylor Swift has been touring over the past year after releasing “Midnights” last fall, we’ve seen some pretty famous athletes publicly celebrate their fandom for her, from Iowa’s Caitlin Clark to New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones. Aaron Rodgers and Miles Teller showed up at a T-Swift show, and Travis Kelce tried to pass his phone number to her.

Count the Wisconsin Badgers among those who might be jamming out to 1989 (Taylor’s Version) in the locker room when it comes out in October.

Recently, true freshman quarterback Cole LaCrue grabbed the microphone during what looked like a team meeting and led the Badgers in a delightful sing-along to Swift’s 2009 hit, “You Belong With Me.”

It’s really fantastic. Take a listen.

Wisconsin fans loved it too. Check out the replies to that tweet, or the comments on the TikTok post.

The Badgers – ranked No. 19 in the preseason AP Top 25 Poll – open their season under new head coach Luke Fickell on Sept. 2 at home against Buffalo.

Let’s change things up: Blast “You Belong With Me” over the loudspeakers instead of “Jump Around.” Get the Swifties rocking at Camp Randall Stadium. Who says no?

A look at Wisconsin’s new quarterback room

A look at Wisconsin’s new quarterback room

Wisconsin has had an incredible month and change in the transfer portal, with the biggest overhaul coming in the quarterback room.

The Badgers landed not one, not two, but three former four-star quarterbacks in the portal, and now have one of the deepest rooms in the conference.

Myles Burkett and Chase Wolf are returning to the Badgers, and Wisconsin has 2024 quarterback Mabrey Mettauer coming in shortly.

After three big-time additions, including one transfer who has already put together a pair of top tier college seasons, the Badgers and new offensive coordinator Phil Longo have a good problem: too much depth.

Here is a look at everyone in the new Wisconsin quarterback room:

Wisconsin lands a commitment from 2023 three-star QB Cole LaCrue

Wisconsin football finally secures a verbal commitment from a QB in the 2023 recruiting class:

Madison, Wis. – After a long, drawn-out search for a signal caller in the 2023 recruiting class, Wisconsin left no stone unturned during the process and finally found their quarterback.

On Monday, Jim Leonhard and his coaching staff received a verbal commitment from 2023 three-star quarterback Cole LaCrue out of Broomfield, Colorado.

“What stands out the most is the atmosphere, the love from the town, and Madison itself,” LaCrue told BadgersWire.

Per the 247Sports Composite, he’s the No. 1,714 overall prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, the No. 99 QB in the country, and the No. 15 player in Colorado.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound dual-threat QB also held offers from Colorado, Tulane, Central Michigan, Northern Colorado, and South Dakota.

LaCrue, a standout at Broomfield High School, finished his senior season with 1,854 passing yards with 21 touchdowns and only two interceptions, according to MaxPreps. He also tacked on an additional 627 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns on the ground.

“The town [Madison] is nothing short of amazing, and it is seriously one of the prettiest places I’ve ever been,” LaCrue said. “What’s not to love about BIG 10 football and playing at Camp Randall? It is, without a doubt, the best stadium I have ever visited.”

The Colorado native announced his verbal commitment to the University of Wisconsin on social media:

2023 three-star QB Cole LaCrue talks Wisconsin recruitment

Wisconsin football recently offered a 2023 three-star dual-threat QB out of Colorado. He gives a breakdown of his recruitment by UW:

Madison, Wis. – On Monday, Jim Leonhard and his coaching staff extended a scholarship offer to 2023 three-star quarterback Cole LaCrue out of Broomfield, Colorado.

Per the 247Sports Composite, he’s the No. 1,714 overall prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, the No. 99 QB in the country, and the No. 15 player in Colorado.

“My relationship with the coaching staff [UW’s] has been pretty good,” LaCrue explained. “They were a staff that wanted to push me to get better and work on things, so I went out and did the work.”

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound QB currently holds offers from Colorado, Tulane, Central Michigan, Northern Colorado, South Dakota, and now, Wisconsin.

He visited Madison back in October and has also taken unofficial visits to Colorado State, Utah State, and Washington State.

“What stands out the most is the atmosphere, the love from the town, and Madison itself,” LaCrue told BadgersWire. “I love having a great fanbase behind me that will support me and be there for me throughout my time in Madison. Also, the town [Madison] is nothing short of amazing, and it is seriously one of the prettiest places I’ve ever visited. Finally, what’s not to love about BIG 10 football and playing at Camp Randall? It is, without a doubt, the best stadium I have ever visited.”

LaCrue, a standout at Broomfield High School, threw for 1,854 yards with 21 touchdowns and only two interceptions in nine games as a senior, according to MaxPreps. He also added an additional 627 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns on the ground.

When asked to describe his game to Wisconsin fans, he had this to say:

“I’m a gamer, a gunslinger, and a playmaker. I’m going to do whatever is necessary in order for us to win a game,” he said. “I’m not your typical 7-on-7 QB who sits in the pocket and isn’t fun to watch. I’m a guy who can do that, but so much more by using my legs and my baseball background.”

In no particular order, LaCrue’s top schools are Colorado, Tulane, and Wisconsin. However, he later clarified that he’s “pretty focused” on Tulane and UW.

For Wisconsin, and more specifically, coach Leonhard, LaCrue is now the only uncommitted quarterback in the 2023 recruiting cycle who holds an offer from UW – making this an incredibly important recruitment to follow moving forward.
