Take a look at how far Alabama climbed in the new US LBM Coaches Poll after two teams ranked ahead of them lost Saturday.

Alabama football moved up in the new Week 12 US LBM Coaches Poll Sunday after a convincing win over Mercer and after two teams ranked ahead of the Crimson Tide lost over the weekend.

Alabama (8-2 overall, 4-2 SEC) moved up two spots to No. 7 in the new Coaches Poll after their 52-7 win over Mercer and after the BYU Cougars (9-1) suffered their first loss of the season in a 17-13 upset at the hands of the Kansas Jayhawks in Provo.

Tennessee (8-2) also fell, 31-17 to the Georgia Bulldogs (8-2) in Athens, causing the Crimson Tide to jump past the Vols. Tennessee and BYU suffered the biggest drops in this week’s poll. Both fell seven spots; the Volunteers are ranked No. 11 while BYU is No. 15.

Alabama remained the highest-ranked two-loss team in the poll and are ranked one spot below No. 6 Notre Dame and one spot ahead of No. 8 Georgia. Jalen Milroe and the Crimson Tide visit the Oklahoma Sooners in Week 13 at Gaylord Family – Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CT. The game can be seen on ABC.

Duke women’s basketball drops below UNC to 16th in USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll

After Sunday’s loss to Maryland, the Duke Blue Devils tumbled down to 16th in the USA TODAY Sports Women’s Basketball Coaches Poll.

The Duke women’s basketball team tumbled down to 16th in the USA TODAY Sports Women’s Basketball Coaches Poll on Tuesday after its first loss of the season over the weekend.

The Blue Devils fell to Maryland on the road, 85-80, despite 15 points from freshman forward [autotag]Toby Fournier[/autotag] off the bench. The 6-foot-2 Canadian has averaged 12.7 points, 5.3 rebounds. 1.0 blocks, and 1.0 steals in her first three collegiate games despite only playing 18.7 minutes per game, and she’s made it to the free-throw line 16 times over the past two contests.

The Terrapins jumped up to 14th with the victory, two spots over the Blue Devils. The team between them? The North Carolina Tar Heels after two straight wins to open their season.

The South Carolina Gamecocks and Connecticut Huskies, predictably, stayed in the first two spots. In fact, the entire top seven remained unchanged after one week.

The Blue Devils return to Cameron Indoor Stadium on Thursday night for a game against Dayton.

Clemson basketball remains unranked, receiving votes in latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll

Clemson is receiving votes but remains unranked.

Clemson’s men’s basketball team remains unranked in the latest USA TODAY Coaches Poll following their opening week. With a 2-0 start to the season, the Tigers earned nine votes, placing them just outside the Top 25 and ranking 13th among other teams receiving votes. Among ACC teams, Clemson trails only Duke, North Carolina, and Wake Forest, who had slightly more points.

\So far, Clemson’s season looks promising. They earned dominant wins over Charleston Southern and Saint Francis, showcasing strong performances on both ends of the court. Looking to build on these early victories, the Tigers have two challenging matchups ahead. First, against Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday at home, followed by a road game at Boise State. Both games provide critical opportunities for Clemson to make a case for national attention and move closer to a second consecutive NCAA tournament appearance under head coach Brad Brownell.

The ACC looks to make a deeper impression down the line as they are not prevalent in these early rankings.

Kentucky climbs five spots to 18 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll

Kentucky basketball is now ranked 18th after starting the season with a 2 – 0 record.

The Kansas Jayhawks, Alabama Crimson Tide, and two-time defending champion Connecticut Huskies remained the top three teams in order, but big wins for the Auburn Tigers and Gonzaga Bulldogs jumped them into the top five.

Georgia drops in the US LBM Coaches Poll after loss

Georgia football falls in the Coaches Poll after loss at Ole Miss. Would UGA make the College Football Playoff?

Here’s how far Clemson rose in the new US LBM Coaches Poll, released Sunday following the Tigers’ win at Virginia Tech.

The Clemson Tigers got a must-win 24-14 victory over the Virginia Tech Hokies Saturday at Lane Stadium to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive after a wild Saturday of Top 25 action.

The Tigers (7-2 overall, 6-1 ACC) moved up one spot to No. 16 in the new US LBM Coaches Poll rankings, released Sunday.

Clemson moved past the LSU Tigers (6-3), who suffered a 42-13 blowout loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide (7-2) in Baton Rouge. Dabo Swinney’s team is ranked one spot below the No. 15 Texas A&M Aggies and one spot ahead of No. 17 Army.

Cade Klubnik and the Tigers overcame a scoreless first half to score 24 straight points against Virginia Tech in the second half. Klubnik threw three touchdown passes as Clemson built a commanding 24-7 lead late in the fourth quarter.

The Tigers’ defense held Virginia Tech to 228 yards, 75 of which came during a late touchdown drive with the game out of reach.

Clemson was ranked No. 23 in the initial College Football Playoff rankings, released on Tuesday. The Tigers got a boost to their ACC title hopes Saturday when the Miami Hurricanes suffered a 28-23 upset road loss to Georgia Tech.

The Tigers would need another Miami loss or an SMU loss to have a shot at reaching the ACC Championship Game in Charlotte.

No Kentucky, but nine SEC teams rank in the US LBM Coaches Poll

Kentucky football isn’t close to a top 25 team, but nine SEC football teams made the US LBM Coaches Poll.

Kentucky football lost its fourth consecutive game on Saturday night, falling 28 – 18 to the Tennessee Volunteers. That drops them to 3 – 6 on the season, and, of course, no where near the top 25 in the US LBM Coaches Poll.

However, the SEC as a whole is very well represented. After having eight teams ranked last week, the conference is up to nine teams after the week ten games. They also had one other team receiving votes.

The Georgia Bulldogs looked a little shaky this week, but got the win and remain the highest ranked SEC team at number two. The Texas Longhorns are also in the top five, and Tennessee is in the top ten after beating Kentucky.

Ole Miss was the biggest riser of the SEC teams, jumping up six spots to number 12. The Texas A&M Aggies dropped five spots after their loss.

Georgia ranking in the US LBM Coaches Poll after Week 10

Where is Georgia football in the Coaches Poll after their win against Florida

The Georgia Bulldogs continue to be ranked as the No. 2 team in the US LBM Coaches Poll. Georgia pulled off a closer than expected 34-20 win over the Florida Gators. Georgia is still receiving one first place vote.

The No. 1 Oregon Ducks are ranked ahead of Georgia. The undefeated Ducks, who won 38-17 at the Michigan Wolverines, received 52 of 53 total first place votes.

Following Georgia is the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes, who earned a 20-13 road win over the previous No. 3 team in the Penn State Nittany Lions. Penn State drops to the No. 7 spot. No. 4 Miami and No. 5 Texas rounds out the top five.

Tennessee is ranked No. 6 and is Georgia’s highest ranked remaining opponent. The Bulldogs hit the road to play the No. 12 Ole Miss Rebels, who are coming off a dominant win over Arkansas. The Rebels are the top risers in the Coaches Poll.

Georgia’s Week 1 win over Clemson no longer looks as impressive because Clemson lost to Louisville 33-21 and dropped nine spots to the No. 17 ranking. UGA’s lone loss of the season came to No. 11 Alabama, who had a bye in Week 10.

The first edition of the College Football Playoff rankings will be released on Tuesday.
