Browns Injury Report: Cleveland getting healthier as Dolphins near

The Browns are getting healthy at the right time with only one player missing from practice on Thursday.

Coming off of the bye week, the Cleveland Browns are getting healthier by the day. Still four out of practice, and only one was not spotted on the field.

Trending in the right direction as we creep closer to Sunday, all of right tackle Jack Conklin, a vastly improved tight end David Njoku, and linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah were on the bikes. Rookie defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey was the only player who was not at practice, missing his second practice in a row with an illness.

Meanwhile only tight end Hunter Long was the only player who missed practice for the Dolphins, working through the concussion protocol.

Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel: ‘This Cleveland Browns team is no joke’

Former Browns assistant and current head coach of the Miami Dolphins, Mike McDaniel, had high praise for this Cleveland football team

When speaking about his next opponent, Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel had high praise for the Cleveland Browns. Spending some time in Cleveland under then offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, McDaniel knows how football used to be played in Northeast Ohio.

And he knows there has been a steep difference in recent years. Here is what McDaniel had to say about this Browns team:

“This Cleveland Browns team is no joke — they are a good football team.”

Looking to get back on track, the Browns need to win two of their next three to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot. This includes taking down one of their former coaches in McDaniel, who knows a win will not come easy.

Is Denzel Ward going to suit up vs. Dolphins?: ‘Yes sir’

Denzel Ward had a two-word answer when asked if he would be back on the field for the Browns vs. Dolphins.

The Cleveland Browns have been without cornerback Denzel Ward since the Los Angeles Chargers game as he has been working through the concussion protocol. However, that streak of missed games seems to end as Ward will return against the Miami Dolphins this Sunday.

When asked if he would play this week, Ward gave just a two-word answer: “Yes sir.” The smile on Ward’s face tells a big story as he is excited to get back on the field with his teammates.

In need of a couple of wins over the next few weeks, getting healthy at the right time cannot hurt the Browns.

Browns still missing Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and David Njoku from practice

The Browns are without four in today’s practice, including David Njoku and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah

As the Miami Dolphins are next on the menu for the Cleveland Browns, they are returning to relative health. During today’s practice, only four players were held out of practice. The big names sidelined were linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and tight end David Njoku. Both players missed the game against the Cincinnati Bengals as well.

Outside of the Owusu-Koramoah and Njoku, the Browns were also down two rookies due to illness. Both cornerback Martin Emerson and defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey were listed with an illness.

We are still only at the mid-week point and we will get a better understanding of who will be available against the Dolphins later in the week. Defensive ends Myles Garrett and Jadeveon Clowney joined Amari Cooper and Joel Bitonio for a day of rest as well.

Jacoby Brissett on returning to Miami: ‘I don’t care, I just want to go win’

Jacoby Brissett was as straight forward as he could have been when asked about returning to Miami to play his former team.

The Cleveland Browns are looking to stack wins for the first time this season. After a much-needed beat down of the Cincinnati Bengals heading into the bye week, the Browns will now look to make it two in a row against the Miami Dolphins this Sunday. Miami is also the previous stop for quarterback Jacoby Brissett before he signed with Cleveland this offseason as well.

And he was asked about it. Brissett’s response is as straightforward and competitive of an answer Browns fans could have hoped for. According to Anthony Poisal of the Cleveland Browns, Brissett was asked what it meant to return to South Beach. His answer?

“I don’t care. I just want to go win.”

Denzel Ward, Wyatt Teller return to practice with Dolphins up next

The Browns are getting a big boost as the Dolphins near as Denzel Ward and Wyatt Teller have returned to practice.

As the Cleveland Brown try to continue to pull their season out of the hole they dug, they get a big boost in practice today. With the Miami Dolphins next on their schedule, the Browns get two starters in cornerback Denzel Ward and guard Wyatt Teller back at practice.

The Browns also designated running back Jerome Ford and defensive end Chase Winovich for return as well today.
