2025 four-star linebacker CJ May lists Auburn in final four

The 6-4, 225-pound linebacker is expected to decide on a school in July.

2025 superstar prospect [autotag]CJ May[/autotag] has plenty of options to choose from regarding where he will play football next fall. On Monday, the Highland Home, AL native whittled down those options to four.

May announced in an X (formerly Twitter) post that Auburn, Louisville, Syracuse, and Washington were the final four programs he is considering. Not only is Auburn the only in-state finalist for the No. 12 prospect in the class from Alabama, but it is closest to home by a good margin. [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag]’s team was also the only SEC program to make May’s final four. The rising senior also holds offers from Georgia, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss, among others.

That interest was plenty warranted after a senior season which say May compile 54 tackles, 7.5 sacks, and 10 tackles for a loss over 11 games. His defense recorded a shutout in five of those contests.

The 6-4, 225-pound linebacker is expected to decide on a school at some point in July. If Freeze could land him, it would add an incredible amount of depth to an already deep Auburn edge rusher room. The Tigers current 2025 group is a consensus top 10 class in the country. A commitment from May could vault the group into an even higher ranking.

Four-star EDGE plans to officially visit Auburn this summer

CJ May is high on Auburn’s recruiting board. Can Hugh Freeze secure May’s commitment this summer?

He is only heading into his second season as Auburn’s head football coach, but we have learned early on that [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] is fond of the small town of Highland Home, Alabama.

Freeze flipped Highland Home native [autotag]Keldric Faulk[/autotag] from Florida State during his first recruiting effort, and currently has Keldric’s brother, [autotag]JaKaleb Faulk[/autotag], in his 2025 haul. Could 2025 recruit [autotag]CJ May[/autotag] be the next Highland Home prospect to join Auburn’s roster?

May chose Notre Dame over Auburn last September, but backed off his pledge in February. Since then, he has visited several schools including Auburn, Washington, and Ole Miss. In a recent interview with On3, May shared that his dream is to compete with the Faulk brothers again on the Plains.

“I’ve got family there, one of my 2025 linebackers, (Auburn commit) JaKaleb Faulk, that’s my second cousin, current (Auburn) player right now Keldric Faulk is also my cousin. We’re all a tight family. It’s family, going into college football, the opportunity to play with them, that’s major. It’d be a dream, all three of us, they call it the ‘Highland Home Trifecta.’”

May has not set a date for his Auburn visit, nor has he set a commitment date. He tells Philip Dukes of On3 that he will reveal his top schools after taking his official visits, and will not rush his decision to commit to a program.

Auburn EDGE target CJ May decommits from Notre Dame

After being committed to Notre Dame since September, Alabama native and Auburn EDGE target CJ May has decommitted from the Irish and reopened his recruitment.

Auburn’s 2025 defensive recruiting class is continuing to build up as time goes on, and the door swung wide open for a target that Auburn has been heavily pursuing.

Four-star EDGE [autotag]CJ May[/autotag] out of Highland Home High School (Ala.) announced his de-commitment from Notre Dame on Sunday after having been committed to the Irish since September.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pounder now has the opportunity to join high school teammate and Auburn EDGE defender commit [autotag]Jakaleb Faulk[/autotag] on the Plains with his de-commitment. Faulk ranks as the No. 12 EDGE defender in the country. He can also join the rest of Auburn’s stout defensive class, including the likes of [autotag]Antonio Coleman[/autotag], [autotag]Jourdin Crawford[/autotag], [autotag]Malik Autry[/autotag] and [autotag]Kalen Edwards[/autotag].

According to the On3 industry rankings, May ranks No. 224 amongst the nation’s recruits overall, and at No. 18 in the EDGE class. He also ranks No. 14 in the state of Alabama.

Notre Dame football loses one of its 2025 defensive line commits

Not the best news to start the week for the Irish

Recruiting isn’t just about one decision and then the players signs, and Notre Dame has found out the hard way once again.

Alabama defensive lineman [autotag]CJ May[/autotag], who committed to the Irish in September of 2023 decided on Sunday evening that he needed to reevaluate his choice. The 6-foot, 4-inch and 225-pound edge rusher decommitted from the Notre Dame program.

It’s a significant loss, as May was ranked as the No. 19 edge and 253rd overall recruit according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He is the second decommit of the cycle, following tight end Nate Roberts.

The good news is that Notre Dame will have plenty of time to fill his spot, as the early signing period is over 10 months away.

Texas A&M offers 2025 4-star Edge and current Notre Dame commit

Texas A&M has fielded an offer to 2025 4-star Edge CJ May, who is currently committed to Notre Dame.

Plenty of outside noise surrounds Texas A&M’s 2024 recruiting class after five-star defensive tackle Dominick McKinley flipped his commitment to LSU as the No. 1-ranked player in Louisiana will stay home.

However, new head coach Mike Elko has already signed 14 players in the cycle. While five-star athlete Terry Bussey will wait to announce his decision until Feb. 7, Elko has likely shifted his focus to the 2025 recruiting class.

Knowing that next summer will bring in a load of talent to College Station for official and unofficial visits, Elko has continued to rely on his defensive recruiting acumen, fielding an offer to 2025 four-star Edge CJ May, who is currently committed to Notre Dame.

According to 247Sports, May is currently positioned as the 20th-ranked Edge and the 11th-ranked player in Alabama, committing to the Fighting Irish in late September. Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing just over 225 pounds, May possesses the length and pass rush potential to develop in Elko’s defensive system that will be executed by new defensive coordinator Jay Bateman.

Within every new coaching transition comes recruiting losses, making the 2025 recruiting class a great opportunity to right the ship and truly solidify the changing of the guard.

Notre Dame adds another 2025 prospect, Alabama edge rusher commits

The Irish added another ‘25 prospect to the class

It wasn’t all bad on Saturday night for the [autotag]Notre Dame football[/autotag] team.

The loss to Ohio State was heartbreaking, but what shouldn’t be lost in the agony was that not just one, running back Daniel Anderson, but two prospects in the 2025 recruiting class made their verbals to the Irish.

Alabama edge rusher [autotag]CJ May[/autotag] announced his commitment to Notre Dame in the midst of the game, but it was a big addition. Ranked as the No. 18 player as his position and 171st nationally according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, the Irish beat out Clemson, Georgia, Penn State and others in May’s recruitment.

May is the fifth verbal of the 2025 Notre Dame class, which has a great balance at the moment with two players on defense and three on offense.

Coveted edge rusher CJ May to visit Auburn

May will be back on the Plains to watch Auburn’s season opener against UMass.

The start of the Auburn football season is nearly here and the excitement is palpable. The game against UMass is a sell-out and should break the attendance record in Jordan-Hare Stadium after an increase is seating. The stadium won’t just be full of fans though, Auburn is set to host several talented recruits.

One of them is four-star edge rusher [autotag]CJ May[/autotag] who announced he would be visiting Aubutn for the game Friday morning on social media.

From Highland Home, Alabama, May is one of the top players from the state in the 2025 recruiting cycle and a key Auburn target. He included Auburn in his top 10 schools back in August and this visit marks his first time back since attending Big Cat Weekend in July.

He is the No. 215 overall player and the No. 20 edge in the 247Sports composite ranking. He is also the No. 14 player from Alabama.

May is the latest Auburn target out of Highland Home, they signed [autotag]Keldric Faulk[/autotag] last season and [autotag]Jakaleb Faulk[/autotag] is currently committed to Auburn. May’s junior season has gotten off to a great start, he made five tackles, 1.0 sack and defended two passes in Highland Home’s first game of the season.

It’s still early in his recruitment, but getting May back on campus for the season-opening game is noteworthy and could pay off for the Tigers.

Can Auburn pull off the Highland Home trifecta?

Hugh Freeze has swayed brothers Keldric and Jakaleb Faulk to pledge to Auburn. Can he convince four-star EDGE CJ May to do the same?

The 2022 Highland Home Flying Squadron had one of the best defenses in small-school Alabama football last season thanks to the efforts of three stout defenders.

If you were to combine the average heights and weights of [autotag]Keldric Faulk[/autotag], [autotag]Jakaleb Faulk[/autotag], and [autotag]CJ May[/autotag]…. you would get a 6-4, 231-pound dual-threat beast.

As the calendar turns to 2023, Keldric Faulk is on Auburn’s campus and Jakaleb Faulk has announced his intention to come to Auburn. However, May is enjoying the fact that his recruitment is starting to unfold.

May is a four-star EDGE from the 2025 class and will have two more seasons to compete alongside Jakaleb Faulk on the high school level. Last week, May included Auburn in his top ten.

In a recent interview with Jason Caldwell of 247Sports, May says that he is impressed at how quickly [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] has changed the outlook of Auburn football.

“They’ve definitely turned the whole program around,” May said. “I love everything about the whole staff, especially coach (Jeremy) Garrett and coach (Vontrell King-Williams). Those are my guys. It’s more of a brother connection than a coach connection. I have a great thing with them.”

May says that he is taking his time with his recruitment, and does not have a timetable for committing to a program. However, On3 has forecasted a 25.6% chance that Auburn lands him. He plans to make a few visits to the Plains this season as well.

Four-star EDGE CJ May lists Auburn in top-10

The four-star EDGE was a teammate of Auburn freshman Keldric Faulk at Highland Home High School.

Auburn football landed a valuable recruit in Highland Home native [autotag]Keldric Faulk[/autotag] during the 2023 recruiting cycle.  It appears that [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and his staff are not finished recruiting players from the tiny town in South Alabama.

Auburn is now in the hunt for Faulk’s high school teammate, [autotag]CJ May[/autotag]. May is a four-star EDGE from the 2025 cycle, and is considered to be one of the state’s top players from the class. May revealed his top-10 schools on Monday, and included Auburn in the mix.

May considers the offer he received from Auburn in June to be meaningful.

“I received an offer from Auburn. It means a lot coming from the home state. It’s very hard to get those offers. Receiving an offer from my home state, it’s a blessed experience,” May said in an interview with Jason Caldwell of Auburn Undercover. “Me and coach (Jeremy) Garrett have a slight bond with him just coming here. The times we’ve met, we’ve always had a tight connection. That means a lot to me.”

May is a 6-4 EDGE, and is strongly considering programs such as Clemson, Georgia, Tennessee, and Ole Miss in addition to Auburn. He is the No. 13 player from the state of Alabama for the 2025 class according to 247Sports.
