Biggest storylines for Panthers vs. Titans in Week 12

Can Frank Reich, Bryce Young and the Panthers avoid another plate of humble pie when they face Will Levis and the Titans in Week 12?

The Carolina Panthers were on top of the football world the last time they made a regular-season trip to Nashville. But, uh, that’s not quite the case now—a long and grueling eight years later. (In fact, it’s quite the opposite.)

Anyway, let’s take a look at the biggest storylines for the Week 12 matchup between the 1-9 Panthers and the 3-7 Tennessee Titans.

Panthers Week 12 injury report: Jaycee Horn, CJ Henderson doubtful vs. Titans

The Panthers will likely be without starting CB Jaycee Horn for their tenth straight game.

The Carolina Panthers will probably remain a bit thin in their secondary.

Cornerback Jaycee Horn, who’s missed the last nine games due to a hamstring injury, has been listed as doubtful for the team’s Week 12 matchup against the Tennessee Titans. The former eighth overall pick was designated to return from injured reserve on Nov. 13.

Fellow starting cornerback CJ Henderson is also down as doubtful. Henderson, despite being a full participant in practice the last two outings, remains in concussion protocol.

Additionally, the Panthers have already ruled out a trio of players—tight end Hayden Hurst (concussion), outside linebacker Yetur Gross-Matos (hamstring) and safety Jeremy Chinn (quadriceps).

Here is the final injury report for the week:

Panthers have near-perfect attendance for Thanksgiving practice

Panthers TE Hayden Hurst remained out of practice on Thursday.

The Carolina Panthers nearly had a full table for their Thanksgiving practice.

Thursday’s injury report listed just one absence from this afternoon’s session—tight end Hayden Hurst. Hurst, who missed last Sunday’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys, remains in concussion protocol.

Also remaining in concussion protocol is cornerback CJ Henderson, whose participation status improved from yesterday. After being limited on Wednesday, the fourth-year defender was bumped up to a full outing just three days ahead of the team’s Week 12 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.

Here’s Thursday’s injury report in full:

Panthers Week 11 inactives: Terrace Marshall Jr. a healthy scratch vs. Cowboys

Panthers WR Terrace Marshal Jr. is a healthy scratch for the Week 11 clash with the Cowboys.

Well, Carolina Panthers head coach Frank Reich won’t have to worry about forgetting Terrace Marshall Jr. this week.

The third-year wide receiver is a healthy scratch for Sunday’s matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. Marshall Jr., who was reportedly granted permission to seek a trade earlier this season, has recorded 18 catches for 134 yards in eight games.

Carolina’s offense will also be without tight end Hayden Hurst, who is currently in concussion protocol. Fellow tight end Ian Thomas should, however, provide some depth—as he was officially activated from injured reserve on Saturday afternoon.

The Panthersm additionally, won’t have cornerbacks Jaycee Horn (hamstring) and CJ Henderson (concussion) nor outside linebacker Marquis Haynes Sr. (back)—all of whom were ruled out on Friday.

Here is the full group of inactives for the team in Week 11:

  • OLB Marquis Haynes Sr.
  • CB CJ Henderson
  • TE Hayden Hurst
  • G Nash Jensen
  • OT Ricky Lee
  • WR Terrace Marshall Jr.

And here’s who’s down for Dallas:

  • CB Noah Igbinoghene
  • QB Trey Lance (emergency third QB)
  • OT Asim Richards
  • CB Eric Scott
  • RB Deuce Vaughn

Panthers Week 11 injury report: Jaycee Horn among 4 players out vs. Cowboys

The Panthers have ruled out CBs Jaycee Horn and CJ Henderson, OLB Marquis Haynes Sr. and TE Hayden Hurst for Week 11.

The Carolina Panthers have quite the task ahead of them this weekend in the red-hot Dallas Cowboys. And unfortunately, they’ll be without a few key defenders for the contest.

Cornerbacks Jaycee Horn (hamstring) and CJ Henderson (concussion) as well as outside linebacker Marquis Haynes Sr. (back) have all been ruled out of Sunday’s matchup. Tight end Hayden Hurst, who is currently in concussion protocol, will also be a no-go.

Carolina will, at least, have their top pass rusher in Brian Burns. The two-time Pro Bowler missed the Week 10 loss to the Chicago Bears due to a concussion.

Here is the Panthers’ final injury report for Week 11:

DJ Chark inactive for Week 10 vs. Bears

Panthers WR DJ Chark, who was listed as doubtful for Week 10 with an elbow injury, is officially inactive tonight.

The Carolina Panthers knew their latest wave of injuries was going to leave them without at least four players in Week 10—outside linebacker Brian Burns, cornerback CJ Henderson, wideout Laviska Shenault Jr. and tight end Stephen Sullivan. And, as expected, they’ve added a fifth.

Receiver DJ Chark is officially inactive for tonight’s matchup against the Chicago Bears. Chark was listed as doubtful on yesterday’s final injury report with an elbow issue.

For insurance measures at the position, the Panthers have elevated Mike Strachan from the practice squad. Strachan, a former Indianapolis Colt under head coach Frank Reich, was signed back on Sept. 13.

Carolina has also padded their roster with two outside linebackers. Marquis Haynes Sr., who missed the first eight games due to a back injury, has been activated while Eku Leota is up for his third straight elevation.

Here’s the full list of inactives for the Panthers:

  • OLB Brian Burns
  • WR DJ Chark
  • CB CJ Henderson
  • G Nash Jensen
  • WR Laviska Shenault Jr.
  • TE Stephen Sullivan

And here’s who’s out for the Bears:

  • FB Khari Blasingame
  • OL Nate Davis
  • QB Justin Fields
  • LB Tremaine Edmunds
  • WR Velus Jones Jr.
  • DL Dominique Robinson
  • DB Terell Smith

Panthers Week 10 injury report: 4 players ruled out vs. Bears

The Panthers have ruled out four players from their Week 10 clash with the Bears, including OLB Brian Burns and CB CJ Henderson.

As expected, the Carolina Panthers won’t have two more key defenders for their latest outing.

Those two players are outside linebacker Brian Burns and cornerback CJ Henderson, both of whom left this past Sunday’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts due to concussions. Head coach Frank Reich unofficially ruled out the duo on Tuesday.

Joining them will be wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. (ankle) and tight end Stephen Sullivan (shoulder). Fellow pass catcher DJ Chark may be on the sideline as well, as he’s been listed as doubtful with an elbow injury.

Here’s the team’s final injury report a day ahead of their Week 10 matchup against the Chicago Bears:

Frank Reich rules out Brian Burns, CJ Henderson for Week 10

Panthers HC Frank Reich has ruled out OLB Brian Burns and CB CJ Henderson (concussions) from Thursday night’s showdown against the Bears.

As expected, the Carolina Panthers will be down two more of their defensive starters in Week 10.

Following Tuesday’s walk-through, head coach Frank Reich confirmed that outside linebacker Brian Burns and cornerback CJ Henderson will be out of the Thursday night showdown against the Chicago Bears. Both players left Sunday’s loss against the Indianapolis Colts after sustaining concussions.

“Really, the only two are the concussion guys,” Reich replied when asked if any of his players will definitely be inactive. “Burns and Henderson, they’ll be out. They will be out. That’s all I’m ready to say right now.”

The loss of Burns will, obviously, be a tough one for the defense to absorb—especially with fellow outside backers Yetur Gross-Matos and Justin Houston currently on injured reserve. The two-time Pro Bowl pass rusher currently leads the team in sacks (5.0), quarterback hits (10), pressures (21) and tackles for a loss (nine).

Henderson’s absence may also hit hard considering the Panthers are already without No. 1 corner Jaycee Horn. Dicaprio Bootle, who played in a season-high 42 defensive snaps in Week 9, may continue to see extended time.

Panthers keep 7 players out of Tuesday’s walk-through

OLB Brian Burns and CB CJ Henderson were among the seven Panthers kept out of Tuesday’s walk-through session.

Meet Tuesday’s injury report, same as Monday’s injury report.

Rather than a prototypical practice, the Carolina Panthers had themselves a walk-through for the second straight afternoon ahead of their Thursday night showdown against the Chicago Bears. And, save for linebacker Chandler Wooten, we have ourselves a carbon copy of the injury report from yesterday:

Injury Monday Tuesday Wednesday Game status
OLB Brian Burns Concussion/elbow DNP DNP
WR DJ Chark  Elbow DNP DNP

Wooten was placed on injured reserve earlier this morning due to the ankle injury he sustained in Sunday’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Tight end Jordan Matthews was brought up from the practice squad to fill Wooten’s spot on the active roster.
