Georgia fans: there’s another AJ Green in the NFL

Former Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver AJ Green could face former Oklahoma State Cowboys DB AJ Green twice per season.

Former Georgia Bulldog great AJ Green is arguably the best wide receiver in UGA history. Despite some recent injury issues, Green is among the best receivers in the NFL.

Now, Bengals receiver AJ Green isn’t the only AJ Green in the NFL. The Cleveland Browns have signed former Oklahoma State Cowboys defensive back AJ Green to an undrafted free agent deal:

As ESPN’s Field Yates notes, AJ Green isn’t the only undrafted player to have a familiar name. It remains to be seen if the Oklahoma State product will be able to stick to an NFL roster. If he can crack the rotation of Cleveland’s defensive backs, then he would face Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver AJ Green twice per season.

To confuse matters further during his spectacular career at Georgia, AJ Green, played a game against the Oklahoma Cowboys. Green caught four passes for 52 yards in the contest. Notably, he faced off against Dez Bryant, who scored two touchdowns to help the Cowboys get the better of the Dawgs 24-10 on that season-opening day.

Georgia Bulldogs DL Tyler Clark signs UDFA deal

Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Tyler Clark did not get invited to the 2020 NFL Combine and went undrafted

Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Tyler Clark did not get invited to the 2020 NFL Combine and went undrafted. Now he’s signing with the Cincinnati Bengals. Clark teams up with UGA legend Geno Atkins in Cincy:

Clark was snubbed from the combine despite being a key piece of Georgia’s elite defense.

Clark helped UGA have the best run defense in the country, allow the fewest rushing touchdowns, and surrender the fewest points of any team in college football. Tyler Clark played a significant amount in all four of his seasons at Georgia.

As a senior Clark finished the season with 2.5 sacks and 26 total tackles. He was disruptive and contributed to 8 tackles behind the line of scrimmage. Clark has solid size and is strong at the point of attack. He is a good all-around player, but isn’t spectacular in any aspect.

Clark had 6.5 sacks over his career, but his best game by far was in the 2018 Rose Bowl against Baker Mayfield and the Oklahoma Sooners. Against the Sooners, Clark had a sack and a pair of tackles for a loss. Over his steady career as a three year starter, Clark totaled 119 tackles.

Fans may recognize his name from key plays like this:

Georgia Bulldog great makes NFL’s all-decade team

The NFL announced their all-decade team for the 2010s decade. One former Georgia Bulldog made the team.

The NFL announced their all-decade team for the 2010s decade. Tom Brady, Joe Thomas, Marshal Yanda, J.J. Watt, Aaron Donald, Von Miller, Justin Tucker, and Adrian Peterson headline the team as unanimous all-decade selections.

Former Georgia Bulldogs defensive tackle Geno Atkins is the only Dawg to make the team. Atkins has been a standout for the Bengals throughout the decade. Other potential UGA candidates for the team included: Todd Gurley, Champ Bailey, Justin Houston (89.5 sacks in the decade), A.J. Green, Thomas Davis, David Andrews, and more.

Here’s the offensive and defensive selections for the 2010s all-decade team:

Do you think any Georgia Bulldogs got snubbed? It’s hard to argue with a lot of the selections, especially the unanimous ones. D’Andre Swift has been compared to one of the all-decade selections ahead of the NFL Draft.

Interestingly, there are all outside linebackers on the team rush the passer (Thomas Davis would fit the bill as an OLB who didn’t play in a 3-4 defense). Speaking of outside linebackers, Justin Houston recorded 28 sacks more than Khalil Mack during the 2010s decade, but Houston failed to make the team.

There are only four receivers on the team, while there’s four offensive guards and four tackles, so the receivers position is a little bit light. Would A.J. Green have been the fifth receiver on the team?

The honor is well-deserved for Geno Atkins, who recorded 75.5 sacks and 383 tackles over the decade. Atkins is an eight-time Pro Bowl selection and is a role-model for modern NFL defensive tackles.

Cincinnati Bengals releasing Georgia Bulldog great

In an expected move, the Cincinnati Bengals are releasing former Georgia Bulldog offensive lineman Cordy Glenn.

In an expected move, the Cincinnati Bengals are releasing former Georgia Bulldog offensive lineman Cordy Glenn. The Bengals put Glenn on the trade block at the NFL Combine, but failed to find any suitors.

As a result, Cincinnati is moving on from Glenn. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news:

Now, Cordy Glenn will be an NFL Free Agent. The Bengals are releasing Glenn to free up $9.5 million in cap space.

He should draw considerable interest on the market. At thirty years old, Glenn has several solid seasons left in his career.

Glenn began his career with the Buffalo Bills before they traded him to Cincinnati. Glenn is a former second round pick out of the University of Georgia. He’s an eight season NFL veteran.

Cincinnati Bengals put former Georgia Bulldog on trade block

The Cincinnati Bengals have put former Georgia Bulldog offensive lineman Cordy Glenn on the trade block.

The Cincinnati Bengals have, according to ESPN’s Jenna Laine, put former Georgia Bulldog offensive lineman Cordy Glenn on the trade block. If the Bengals can’t find a suitor for Glenn and his contract, then they’re considering releasing him.

Glenn was a part of a struggling Cincinnati offensive line in 2019.

Glenn, who changed positions several times this season, is due $2 million dollars if he’s on the Cincinnati roster the 22nd of March. He’s set to make an additional $7.5M in base salary this season. Cutting Glenn would free up the Bengals $9.5M in cap room.

Jonah Williams, Cincinnati’s 2019 first round pick out of Alabama, is projected to return to the Bengals following his missed rookie season. If Cordy Glenn becomes a free agent, then he’ll receive interest on the market.
