The Cincinnati Bearcats (10-1, 7-0 AAC East) battle the Memphis Tigers (10-1, 6-1 AAC West) Friday at the Liberty Bowl at 3:30 p.m. ET. We analyze the Cincinnati-Memphis odds and betting lines, while providing college football betting tips and advice on this matchup.

Cincinnati is No. 17, while Memphis is No. 18 in the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA Today Sports. Meanwhile, the Tigers are 18th and the Bearcats 19th in the College Football Playoff Rankings.

Cincinnati at Memphis: Three things you need to know

1. The Bearcats and Tigers square off in what might be a preview of the AAC Championship Game next week if Memphis is able to win Saturday or not fall behind Navy (8-2, 6-1) in the AAC West standings.

2. Memphis ranks 10th nationally with 488.2 total yards per game on offense, while checking in 20th in passing yards (292.0 YPG) and eighth in points per game (42.2 PPG).

3. Cincinnati ranks 35th in rushing defense, yielding 133.7 yards per game. The Bearcats will be tasked with stopping Memphis freshman phenom RB Kenneth Gainwell, who has rolled up 1,294 rushing yards and 15 total touchdowns.

Prediction

Memphis 44, Cincinnati 30

Moneyline (ML)

Cincinnati (+310) is almost worth a roll of the dice, as the ‘Cats look to keep their New Year’s Day bowl game hopes alive. Playing at the Liberty Bowl is a tough assignment, however. Memphis (-500) is an overwhelming favorite since it’s at home and has yet to clinch a spot in the AAC title game.

New to sports betting? Every $10 wagered that Memphis will win outright will return a profit of $2.00.

Against the Spread (ATS)

MEMPHIS (-10.5, -121) has posted a 4-1 ATS mark across the past five outings, and it’s 19-7-1 ATS in the previous 27 AAC battles. The Tigers are also 5-2 ATS in the past seven against teams with an overall winning mark. Cincinnati (+10.5, +100) is a tempting play, as it has only lost one game this season, a 30-28 setback at Temple. However, it also hasn’t faced a powerful offense like Memphis, yet.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER (57.5, -106) is a great play. Memphis can score points at a video-game pace, and Cincinnati’s defense will have a hard time shutting the Tigers down. Gainwell can house it anytime he touches the ball, and sorry AAC, he is just a freshman. He’ll be around to terrorize conference defenses for a while.

Temple at Cincinnati odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Saturday’s Temple Owls at Cincinnati Bearcats sports betting odds and lines, with college football picks, tips and best bets.

The Temple Owls (7-3) visit Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati to take on the Cincinnati Bearcats (9-1) in a Saturday night American Athletic Conference battle kicking off at 7 p.m. ET. We analyze the Temple-Cincinnati odds and betting lines, while providing college football betting tips and advice on this matchup.

Temple at Cincinnati: Three things you need to know

1. Over two or three games per side, the Owls and Bearcats have lost (Temple) and won (Cincinnati) games that statistically swing the other way. Ill-timed turnovers, specials teams performance and garbage-time scores all filter into the line. In this case, they filter in from opposite ends and they favor the Owls. Not to win per se, but perhaps as 3-6-point underdogs.

2. UC’s pass defense is a weakness played against a Temple strength. Five of the Bearcats’ last six foes have passed for more than 234 yards. The stretch includes UC’s Nov. 2 game at East Carolina, in which Cincinnati coughed up 535 passing yards.

3. Offensive production between these two is similar. But there’s quite a bit of luck and predictable regression when it comes to cranking out big plays as opposed to “really big plays” — how often a team produces plays of 20-plus yards as opposed to 40-yard gains is a good measure. And here, it shows the Bearcats’ numbers as being overcooked (tilted toward the longer plays) while the Owls’ are underdone.

Temple at Cincinnati: Odds, betting lines and picks

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Friday at 3 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Cincinnati 28, Temple 20

Moneyline (ML)

We will PASS on Temple +325.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Temple returns a profit of $32.50.

Against the Spread (ATS)

The Bearcats are 1-4 against the spread over their last five home games against teams with a winning record. The Owls have won three straight in the series, both straight up and against the spread.

Liking the play and the number, we will take TEMPLE (+10.5, -110).

Over/Under (O/U)

The Under is 23-11 over Cincinnati’s last 34 November games and 5-0 in UC’s last five contests at Nippert Stadium.

Chilly, wet weather is in the forecast. But that’s mostly reflected in the projected total of 46.5.ย  No play on the number here.

Cincinnati Bearcats take swipe at Bengals while promoting showdown vs. Temple

The Bearcats decided to promote the city’s best game of the year.

Were this a normal year for football in the city of Cincinnati, this weekend might have been massive.

After all, the Cincinnati Bengals play host to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the University of Cincinnati hosts Temple.

But this year hasn’t been exactly normal — one team is 0-10 and staring its worst-ever start in the face.

The team that isn’t on a historically bad pace decided to have some fun recently, commandeering the “Dey” usage the Bengals so love to promote their upcoming game:

The Saturday showdown has loads of implications for the Bearcats. A win would clinch the American Athletic Conference East Division and further postseason ambitions for a team ranked 19th in the College Football Playoff poll. The Bearcats haven’t beaten Temple since 2014.

Given how the Bengals have performed this year, especially in contrast to the 9-1 Bearcats, it’s hard to argue with their assertion that it’s “Cincinnati’s Game of the Year.”
