Seahawks players express safety concerns ahead of training camp

Seahawks players, and others around the NFL, have expressed concerns ahead of training camp start dates with no safety protocols in place.

NFL players are expected to begin to report to training camps this week, yet the league and the NFLPA have yet to agree on a number of protocols the union believes need to be in place to protect the safety of its players.

A number of NFL players – including Seahawks Russell Wilson, Bobby Wagner and Bruce Irvin – took to Twitter Sunday morning to express their concerns using the hashtag #WeWantToPlay. Wilson included the following message in his tweet:

“I am concerned. My wife is pregnant.

NFL Training camp is about to start.. And there’s still No Clear Plan on Player Health & Family Safety.

🤷🏾

We want to play football but we also want to protect our loved ones. #WeWantToPlay.”

This Twitter campaign comes on the eve of the day Texans and Chiefs rookies are scheduled to arrive at camp.

The NFL and the NFLPA are continuing their negotiations today per numerous reports.

Russell Wilson, Ciara will be executive producers on new movie

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and Ciara’s production company Why Not You will executive produce the movie ‘Not Without Hope’ .

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and his wife, Grammy award winning singer Ciara, are set to executive produce a new movie called ‘Not Without Hope’ through their production company Why Not You.

The film will star Miles Teller, who plays the lone survivor of a real-life boating tragedy that occurred in 2009 and involved a pair of former NFL players, Marquis Cooper and Corey Smith, who both tragically passed away in the Gulf of Mexico.

The movie will be directed by Rupert Wainwright and is going to be featured at Cannes upcoming virtual market.

‘Not Without Hope’ is based on a 2014 novel of the same name, written by Nick Schuyler, who Teller will be portraying in the film.

Schuyler and three friends, Will Bleakley and former NFL players Cooper and Smith, took off on a fishing trip back in 2009. Severe storms capsized the boat and left the four of them attempting to survive in frigid waters.

Cooper, Smith and Bleakley unfortunately all passed from hyperthermia, but Schuyler was rescued after 46 hours in 60 degree water.

This will be Wilson and Ciara’s first foray into feature films with Why Not You productions.

Russell Wilson challenges Tom Brady to golf game in Mexico

Russell Wilson took to Twitter to (jokingly) challenge Tom Brady and his wife Gisele Bundchen to a golf game with him and Ciara in Mexico.

In an effort to raise money for COVID-19 relief efforts, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and pro golfer Phil Mickelson played a nationally televised round of golf against retired quarterback Peyton Manning and golfer Tiger Woods, with the duo of Manning and Woods narrowly winning.

“The Match: Champions for Charity,” was televised on ESPN and raised over $20 million for COVID-19 relief efforts, which included 300,000 pledged meals from Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

Wilson had a lot of fun during the event, trash talking Tom Brady on Twitter before eventually challenging Brady and his wife, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, to a matchup on the links against himself and his wife Ciara.

Wilson made the challenge public on Twitter, even giving the wives the option to have the match in either the Bahamas or Mexico.

Gisele responded first, and while she doesn’t plan to be very competitive on the links, she picked Mexico for another reason:

Ciara joined in on the fun as well, echoing Gisele’s choice of Mexico for the matchup.

The bantering was all in good fun, and while a matchup between these four would surely be must watch television, it doesn’t seem like anything to take seriously.

Wilson and Ciara have been extremely charitable during this global pandemic, and finding a way to help people out while having a little fun on social media was a perfect way celebrate a unique Memorial Day weekend.

Seahawks QB Russell Wilson to donate 300,000 meals for COVID-19 relief

Seahawks QB Russell Wilson will donate 300,000 meals for COVID-19 relief as a charity bet made during “The Match: Champions for Charity.”

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and his wife, Ciara, had a little fun Sunday afternoon in the name of charity.

Sports fans around the country finally had something to watch Memorial Day Weekend when Capital One’s “The Match: Champions for Charity,” kicked off to raise funds in support of COVID-19 relief.

The contest, which was held at The Medalist Golf Club, pitted Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning against Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady. Wilson tweeted his trash talk video aimed at Brady – all in good fun, of course – before the four hit the course.

Wilson later upped his ante when he promised 100,000 meals per shot inside 12 feet on the No. 16 hole. After three – Manning, Mickelson and Brady – hit the mark, Wilson and Ciara will now be donating 300,000 meals to the COVID-19 relief cause.

The PGA was live blogging the event and you can check out a recap of the action here.

Russell Wilson and Ciara announce they’re having a baby boy in delightful gender reveal

It’s a boy!

It seems like nobody has been enjoying life in quarantine more than Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and his wife, Ciara.

Just few a months days after Ciara announced that she was pregnant with the couple’s second child together — and later showed off her baby bump in an excellent attempt at the Toosie Slide with Wilson — Ciara and Wilson held a gender reveal party to announce that they are having a boy.

In a video posted to Twitter on Tuesday, Wilson and Ciara fired off a couple confetti cannons with 5-year-old Future Jr. (Ciara’s son from a past relationship) and 2-year-old Sienna Princess (the couple’s first child) present for the gender reveal.

It’s a boy!

But wait for the dance at the end … we all need to experience that kind of joy right now.
