Big Ten Network named Charles Brantley’s pick-six as the play of the week:

Michigan State football improved to 3-0 on the 2024 season, the first in Jonathan Smith’s tenure at MSU, after defeating Prairie View A&M, 40-0, on Saturday.

In the win, the Spartans broke a school record, recording a 100-yard interception for a touchdown. It was cornerback Charles Brantley that recorded a pick-six for MSU, helping him earn the honor as the highest rated cornerback in the nation for week three.

PFF rated Charles Brantley as the best CB in the nation during week three

Michigan State football had a big week, defeating Prairie View A&M and improving to 3-0 on the season, the first in Jonathan Smith’s tenure in East Lansing.

In the win over the Panthers, Charles Brantley had a huge game for the Spartans, registering a 100-yard pick-six to go along with 2 tackles and a pass defend, earning defensive player of the game honors.

To round out the outstanding performance for Brantley, he was given a 92.1 rating by Pro Football Focus, a very good rating, earning him the honor of being the highest rated cornerback in the nation for week three.

Michigan State’s pass defense has taken a lot of flock, most of it being warranted, but Charles ‘Chuck’ Brantley made sure to give the Spartans a bright spot on national television against Ohio State.

Early in the game, with the Spartans trailing 7-0, Brantley made a big play picking off C.J. Stroud’s pass and taking it to the house for a touchdown.

3 changes Michigan State football should make after 3 games

Even after a 3-0 start, there is still room for MSU to improve. Here are three changes the Spartans should make to continue their upward trajectory:

Michigan State is ahead of schedule in terms of a rebuild in the Mel Tucker era. The Spartans are off to a 3-0 start and have a signature win on the road against the Miami Hurricanes.

There have been a lot of bright spots so far, and Michigan State is showing much-needed improvement on both sides of the football.

Although a great start, no one or team is perfect, and there is room for the Spartans to improve and get better. If MSU continues to improve, the sky is the limit on what this season could ultimately end up being.

Let’s take a look at three changes I would like to see the Spartans make, in order to continue their upward trajectory:
