Former Alabama broadcaster Eli Gold set to take on role with Jacksonville State

Former Alabama announcer Eli Gold joining the Jacksonville State team

The changes coming to Tuscaloosa in the fall of 2024 will go beyond just the gridiron. Obviously the loss of [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and his coaching staff will dominate the headlines, however, anyone who has spent time around the Alabama program knows that the loss of [autotag]Eli Gold[/autotag] is a painful one too.

Gold has been an announcer for the Crimson Tide program for over 30 years, but the two sides decided to part ways this offseason. Gold has been the voice who has narrated some of the greatest moments in Alabama athletics history, so it is painful to see him leave.

Today, it was announced that Gold’s play-by-play career will continue on as he will now take on television duties for Jacksonville State baseball. It is also expected that he will be involved with the football team in the fall. Gold said of the move, “I’m looking forward to it. I’ve known the people at JSU for many years. I’m looking forward to working with athletic director Greg Seitz. They’ve made some very nice strides here recently, winning a bowl game last year and so on.”

As for the Crimson Tide, [autotag]Chris Stewart[/autotag] is expected to take over the primary role moving forward.
