Contract details of Titans’ one-year deal with WR Chris Moore

A look at the contract details for new Titans WR Chris Moore.

While he wasn’t the kind of impact wideout Tennessee Titans fans were hoping for, the team did finally add a veteran wide receiver in free agency with the signing of former Houston Texan, Chris Moore.

In a perfect world, Moore will serve as no better than the No. 4 receiver in Tennessee’s offense. However, with the way things stand now with this lackluster group, he could be as high as No. 2 on the depth chart.

I expect that to change, though, with the Titans expected to add at least one wide receiver during the 2023 NFL draft, and realistically they could very well add two given the current situation.

And, hopefully they can find a true impact veteran receiver at some point after that, but I’m not holding my breath.

According to Over the Cap, Moore’s deal with the Titans is for one year and totals $1.31 million, with $847,500 of that guaranteed. The 30-year-old also gets a prorated bonus of $152,500, and his deal accounts for a cap hit of $1.09 million in 2023.

That contract doesn’t exactly scream “big role” for Moore, who will have to compete for a roster spot. That said, the veteran has a leg up over the team’s younger receivers who will be vying for depth spots.

What Titans are getting in wide receiver Chris Moore

We sat down with Mark Lane of Texans Wire to get more information on the Titans’ newest wide receiver, Chris Moore.

The Tennessee Titans made a long-awaited veteran addition to their receiving corps. on Wednesday when they inked former Houston Texan Chris Moore to a one-year deal.

While Tennessee desperately needed a veteran option for the group, Moore isn’t exact the kind of impact signing fans were looking for to complement Treylon Burks.

However, when you look at it as a depth signing for the bottom half of the depth chart, the move is actually a decent one, as Moore tallied more receiving yards than any Titans wideout in 2022 (548).

Moore is also a solid chain-mover, as 24 of his 48 receptions in 2022 went for first downs.

Titans fans are understandably not excited about the move considering the team’s dire need near the top of the depth chart, but Mark Lane of Texans Wire is a bit higher on him than most.

Here’s what Lane had to say about Moore in a recent Q&A we did with him.

Titans reveal jersey numbers for LB Ben Niemann, WR Chris Moore

New Titans WR Chris Moore is wearing a jersey number fans should recognize.

The Tennessee Titans have made two additions to their roster this week with the signings of veteran linebacker Ben Niemann and veteran wide receiver Chris Moore.

While neither moves the needle much on either side of the ball, Niemann and Moore are solid veteran depth options for Tennessee at positions that have some question marks right now.

The Titans’ two projected starters at linebacker, Azeez Al-Shaair and Monty Rice, lack full-time starting experience, while the wide receiver position is simply a mess with Tennessee failing to make an impact addition in free agency.

Moore and Niemann provide some insurance, but when it comes to Moore specifically, this signing does zero to address Tennessee’s overall need at the position.

Putting that aside for now, the Titans revealed the jersey numbers for their newest players on Wednesday, and you might recognize the one Moore is sporting (hint: the Titans traded him last offseason).

Here’s a look at those digits, along with the jersey numbers for all of the newest Titans.

Grading the Titans’ signing of WR Chris Moore

Shaun Calderon grades the Titans’ signing of WR Chris Moore.

The Tennessee Titans made their first addition to the wide receivers room in free agency after they signed former Houston Texans wide receiver Chris Moore on Wednesday.

Moore is coming off the best season of his career after totaling 548 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 48 catches. His best game came against Dallas in Week 14, where he was targeted 11 times, catching 10 of those passes for 124 yards.

In an ideal world. you would have preferred for the Titans to go the younger route considering Moore will be 30 in a few months, but this at least brings an experienced receiver to an offense that could use all the help it can get.

This move isn’t going to make them the division favorites or solve their issue at wide receiver, but Moore gives this receivers room some much-needed depth.

Also, the NFL draft is only one week away. I’ll give the Titans the benefit of the doubt that they’ll make a significant addition or two to their roster before making final proclamations on the group.

However, this grade is subject to change should they end next weekend with Moore still being slotted as a top two or three wide receiver on the depth chart. For now, I’ll give this addition an average mark:

Grade: C

Titans fans, media react to signing of WR Chris Moore

A look at how Titans fans and media reacted to the signing of WR Chris Moore.

The Tennessee Titans finally added a veteran wide receiver to their room on Wednesday with the signing of Chris Moore, who was reportedly inked to a one-year deal. The financial terms were not disclosed.

A former fourth-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in 2016, Moore had a career year with the Houston Texans in 2022, reeling in 48 catches for 548 yards and two touchdowns.

However, he posted those numbers on a team that had a barren wasteland at the wide receiver position due to a lack of talent and injuries, a situation Moore’s new team is quite familiar with.

While Moore gives Tennessee some much-needed veteran depth, he’s a No. 4 receiver at best and does nothing to move the needle in terms of the Titans’ need to add two impact receivers behind Treylon Burks.

As you’d expect, the signing wasn’t met with any excitement from Titans fans and media. Tennessee still has a lot of work to do and it continues to look like Tennessee will have to double up at the position in the 2023 NFL draft.

Titans sign former Texans WR Chris Moore

The Tennessee Titans finally added some much-needed depth and talent to their wide receiver room on Wednesday after signing former Texans wideout Chris Moore.

Tennessee’s interest in Moore recently leaked to the public, and the deal is now official.

This isn’t going to move the championship needle by any means, but the Titans need all the help they can get offensively at the moment, and Moore is coming off a career year in Houston.

Moore totaled 548 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 48 catches last year. His best game came against Dallas back in Week 14 where he was targeted 11 times, catching 10 of those passes for 124 yards.

Ideally, one would have preferred for the Titans to go the younger route considering Moore will be 30 in a few months, but this at least brings an experienced and relatively reliable receiver into a room that needs both of those things.

Nevertheless, this shouldn’t change anything when it comes to the draft, Tennessee still needs to find a competent wideout to pair with Treylon Burks atop the depth chart, and I would expect that to happen sometime within the first two days of the draft.

Titans hosting free-agent WR Chris Moore on a visit

The Titans are reportedly hosting free-agent WR Chris Moore on a visit on Wednesday.

Outside of the re-signing of wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, the Tennessee Titans have been dead silent when it comes to addressing the position this offseason.

However, it appears the Titans are finally showing interest in one veteran wideout in free agency, with the team set to host former Houston Texans wide receiver Chris Moore on a visit on Wednesday, per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

A former fourth-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in 2016, Moore spent five seasons there before moving on the play for the Texans the past two campaigns.

He had his best season in 2022, when he reeled in career-highs in catches (48) and yards (548), while also securing two touchdowns.

The 29-year-old doesn’t move the needle when it comes to the Titans’ need to add multiple impact receivers, but he has proven to be a solid chain-mover and would be a good depth piece if signed to a contract by Tennessee.

A season in review: Chris Moore

Take a look back at the best moments from Chris Moore’s junior season.

The Auburn Tigers ended the 2022-23 season with a loss in the NCAA Tournament, falling to Houston in the round of 32. As the program begins to transition to the offseason, Auburn Wire will take time to reflect on the season that was by highlighting the accomplishments of this year’s team.

Up next in our series is junior forward [autotag]Chris Moore[/autotag].

After playing in 25 games in each of his last two seasons, Moore saw an increase in his role. He started the first 16 games for the Tigers and appeared in 31 games as a key member of the bench.

He averaged just 3.5 points and 2.1 rebounds per game but he shot an impressive 49.3% from the field and 40.9% from 3-point range. His hustle and defensive effort ensured that he made a bigger impact than the box score indicated and endeared him to Auburn fans.

The best game of his season came in a 72-56 win over Texas Southern when he scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds. He scored in double figures two more times in the season, scoring 12 points in a win against Washington and a loss to Memphis.

Check out the previous installments of our year-in-review series: Zep Jasper, Jaylin Williams, Allen Flanigan, K.D. Johnson, Wendell Green Jr., Tre Donaldson, and Johni Broome

Here is a look at the best moments from his junior season on the Plains:

Tiger of the Game: Broome sweeps votes despite Auburn’s tough loss

Despite a home loss to Texas A&M, it was business as usual for Broome in the stat sheet.

The No. 16 Auburn Tigers, unfortunately, lost its’ nations-best 28-game home winning streak on Wednesday night, falling to Texas A&M, 79-63.

Auburn got off to a strong 10-2 lead, but the Aggies would take a 24-23 lead with 8:54 remaining in the first half, and would not allow Auburn to take the lead away. Texas A&M built a 15-point halftime lead, and would not let Auburn get within eight points of their lead in the second half.

Despite the tough loss, it was business as usual in the stat sheet for the regular contributors.

[autotag]Wendell Green Jr.[/autotag] scored a team-leading 16 points while assisting on four baskets. [autotag]Jaylin Williams[/autotag] had seven assists to go along with his eight points, and [autotag]Allen Flanigan[/autotag] scored eight points and secured four rebounds. In his return to action since injuring his shoulder three games ago, [autotag]Chris Moore[/autotag] recorded a rebound in 12 minutes of action.

Out of all of the top performers in Wednesday’s game, [autotag]Johni Broome[/autotag] made the biggest impact. His contributions to the game were enough to earn the “Tiger of the Game” award in a unanimous fashion.

Here’s a more in-depth look at why Auburn Wire writers Taylor JonesJ.D. McCarthy, and River Wells, chose Broome as their  “Tiger of the Game” following Auburn’s loss to Texas A&M.

Auburn forward Chris Moore could return for Texas A&M matchup

Moore is set to be a game-time decision for Wednesday’s matchup.

Tigers forward [autotag]Chris Moore[/autotag] has been dealing with a shoulder injury since the beginning of the month, but there’s a chance he could make his return to the hardwood on Wednesday.

Moore will be a game-time decision for Auburn on Wednesday, according to 247Sports’ Nathan King. While it’s uncertain if Moore will be ready, an appearance against the Aggies would be his first for the Tigers in three games.

So far this season, Moore is averaging six points and 2.7 rebounds per game and is currently shooting 53.2 percent from the field. His best game so far was against the Memphis Tigers, where he shot perfect from three and grabbed three rebounds while finishing with 12 points on the day. Moore was dressed in uniform against South Carolina but did not play, but that could change against Texas A&M on Wednesday.

The Tigers could certainly use the help against the Aggies, who are currently fourth in the SEC. Auburn will defend home court against Texas A&M at 8 p.m. CT.
