Chris Doherty closed a forgettable chapter in Notre Dame basketball by transferring out of the university a week after the Irish’s 91-66 win over Fairleigh Dickinson on Nov. 26. But he went out by tying a career high with four points and recording an offensive rebound. Check out his dunk with a minute left in the game in these highlights. Maybe he’ll look back on this with his kids one day:

Notre Dame Basketball Player Review: Chris Doherty

Chris Doherty lasted six games with Notre Dame this season before deciding to leave the program and transfer in December.

For the next 11 days, we’ll be taking a look at what each player who suited up for Notre Dame men’s basketball did on the court. Even if the season didn’t go or end as planned, let’s give this gentlemen a proper sendoff for the 2019-20 season.

Sophomore power forward Chris Doherty lasted all of six games with Notre Dame this season before deciding to leave the program and transfer from the university in December. This, coupled with Robby Carmody’s ACL tear at the same time, left the Irish with very little depth, and they didn’t have much of it to begin with. Doherty never seemed comfortable with the program, as evidenced by him temporarily leaving the team before his freshman season even began. After returning, he struggled to find minutes all that season, and that trend continued this year before he decided he’d had enough, so the writing was on the wall for some time.

What little productivity the Marlborough, Massachusetts, native and former AAU teammate of Nate Laszewski had this season came during Notre Dame’s six-game winning streak that followed its season-opening loss to North Carolina. Doherty made his only field-goal attempt and also had a rebound, a steal and a block Nov. 12 vs. Howard. In his final game with the Irish (Nov. 26 vs. Farleigh Dickinson), he scored four points on 2-of-3 shooting and grabbed one offensive rebound.

It’s a shame Doherty didn’t work out in South Bend, but we wish him well in his future endeavors.

Notre Dame Basketball: Robby Carmody Injured Late in Loss at No. 3 Maryland

The worst part of the night came in the games final minute when sophomore guard Robby Carmody suffered what appeared to be a significant knee injury that could very-possibly cost him the rest of the season.

Notre Dame had a tough time getting anything to work the final 36 or so minutes of Wednesday night’s loss at No. 3 Maryland, as the Irish fell 72-51.

The worst part of the night came in the games final minute when sophomore guard Robby Carmody suffered what appeared to be a significant knee injury that could very-likely cost him the rest of the season.

The Mars, Pennsylvania product had been averaging 5.5 points per game for Mike Brey’s Fighting Irish but it would appear his 2019-20 season is done almost as soon as it began.

The one good thing to be seen from this moment was a classy showing of sportsmanship from the entire Maryland team right after the game went final.

For Notre Dame an already thin bench gets that much thinner as the Irish have now lost two players in the last two days, after Chris Doherty announced he was leaving the team Tuesday.

Notre Dame Basketball: Chris Doherty Leaves Team

Doherty was hardly a key contributor as he’s played just 15 minutes this season.

As the 6-1 Notre Dame basketball team continues to prepare for No. 3 Maryland in Wednesday night’s ACC/Big Ten Challenge match-up they got news that they’ll be playing short-handed as forward Chris Doherty has left the team.

Doherty was hardly a key contributor as he’s played just 15 minutes this season.  He finishes his Notre Dame career with 15 points and 14 rebounds while appearing in 17 games over the last two seasons.
