Arenas: LeBron James’s big three originally wanted to play for the Knicks

How would things have turned out differently in NBA history had LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh gone to the Knicks in 2010?

When LeBron James joined the Miami Heat in 2010 and took Chris Bosh with him, it shattered the NBA’s landscape in more ways than one.

The Miami trio of James, Bosh and Dwyane Wade were immediately hailed by some as the greatest collection of superstar talent in NBA history. Amidst an unprecedented amount of hype and anticipation, the Heat fell hard in the 2011 NBA Finals, only to claim the next two world championships.

The three luminaries were reportedly planning to team up for a few years in advance. However, according to Gilbert Arenas, they were originally looking to join forces on the New York Knicks.

Unfortunately for them, Knicks owner James Dolan made a fatal mistake that torpedoed the team’s chances of landing the three superstars (h/t Heat Nation).

“When Dwyane Wade, Bosh and LeBron decided to team up, they was not playing in someone city so they can all be fresh,” Arenas said of the trio’s intentions to join forces in New York. “So they were planning on going to New York together. And what happened is because they didn’t tell anyone, Dolan made a mistake by paying Amar’e Stoudemire.

“They didn’t want to play with Amar’e Stoudemire because they had they own goddamn Big 3. So, because New York [expletive] it up, they called Micky [Arison] and say, ‘Hey, Micky. This is what we wanna do. Can you make it happen?’ And then made it work — if you knew what was going on then, you would have known New York dropped the ball because of — they offer Mike Miller all that money because they knew Mike Miller was part of the group. Miami stole him. [Udonis] Haslem rejected his deal once he got wind — took the pay cut, signed last to come back. They were all moving together.”

At the time, the Knicks had been laughingstocks for several years. Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing had left in 2000, and since then, they had made the playoffs twice while failing to get past the first round.

Landing James, Bosh and Wade would’ve instantly restored the Knicks’ credibility and dignity. Instead, they would have to struggle for another decade while fans kept calling for Dolan to sell the team.

Luckily, now New York has a very good team with a real soul and identity that seems to have the beginnings of a potential championship contender. But it could’ve recast the basketball world’s spotlight on itself a while back while allowing James to possibly become the toast of the Big Apple.

The Bulls were 1 trade away from landing LeBron, Wade, and Bosh

The Chicago Bulls almost had LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh come to Chicago.

This past year, the Chicago Bulls missed out on the playoffs, but two years ago, they snapped a four-year drought and made it back to the postseason. Unfortunately, they only won one game and were eliminated in the first round. The last time Chicago was truly a title contender was when Derrick Rose was leading the way. Prior to that, it was Michael Jordan‘s Bulls.

However, Chicago nearly had another powerhouse at the beginning of the 2010s. Before LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh joined the Miami Heat to form “The Heatles,” they almost teamed up in Chicago instead.

According to KC Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago, if the Bulls had been able to trade Luol Deng to the LA Clippers, the Heat’s Big 3 would have been in Chicago.

“If the Bulls were able to trade Luol Deng to the Clippers, which they had talks about doing, that Big 3 would’ve been in Chicago,” Johnson said on a recent edition of Bulls Talk. “Trust me on that one.”

Had James, Wade, and Bosh come to the Bulls instead of the Heat, the entire course of NBA history would have been changed.

How many titles would they have won in Chicago?

Robert Pattinson wore an oversized suit to ‘The Batman’ premiere and NBA fans all made the same joke

“With the first overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft, The Batman selects….”

European audiences finally got a look at the newest caped crusader as The Batman premiered in London. That meant the stars of the film were all there, too, with actor/model/spokesman Robert Pattinson getting the full red carpet treatment before his debut as Bruce Wayne.

Now, in the world of high fashion, Pattinson’s choice to wear an oversized suit on the red carpet was seen as just the latest installment of Pattinson’s distinct personal taste.

Here’s how Liam Hess of Vogue described the outfit:

“Pattinson wore a look designed by Luke and Lucie Meier for Jil Sander—and with the couple’s reputation for delivering slick but playful riffs on tailoring staples, it was a match made in red carpet heaven. Pattinson’s oversized gray suit carried all of the grunge-inspired flair the actor likes to bring to the classic red carpet suit, worn with a sleek black turtleneck, minimalist leather boots, and a thick silver chain bracelet by Chrome Hearts.”

Once the outfit made its way over to NBA Twitter, however, basketball fans could only assume Pattinson had traveled back in time to attend the 2003 Draft.

Lest we forget, the 2003 NBA draft class featured LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, Chris Kaman, Kirk Hinrich, Nick Collison, David West, Boris Diaw, Josh Howard, Kyle Korver and Mo Williams.

Hopefully the new Batman film will be just as good and Pattinson is paying homage to the greats who wore baggy suits before him.

WATCH: LeBron attends Chris Bosh’s Hall of Fame ceremony with Dwyane Wade, Ray Allen

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James attended Chris Bosh’s Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony Saturday.

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2021 is officially enshrined.

Among the new class of basketball players entering the Hall of Fame is Paul Pierce, Yolanda Griffith, Chris Webber, Chris Bosh and more.

Bosh is the biggest name pertaining to Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, as the two were teammates for several seasons when they played for the Miami Heat.

Bosh and James won back-to-back titles together in the 2012 and 2013 seasons, helping the relationship between the two grow. Both players were top four picks in the 2003 NBA draft.

Before Bosh’s enshrinement ceremony, he spoke about what it was like to play alongside James as both a teammate and rival.

During the ceremony, James attended to support Bosh, along with Dwyane Wade and Ray Allen:

Eventually, all four of these players will be able to say they’re in the Hall of Fame.

Chris Bosh reflects on playing with Lakers’ LeBron James ahead of Hall of Fame induction

Chris Bosh on a 16-year-old LeBron James: “He was the best player I had ever seen.”

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame is inducting the Class of 2021, and Chris Bosh is among the new group being immortalized in the basketball world.

The Toronto Raptors selected Bosh with the No. 4 pick in the 2003 NBA draft, three spots below LeBron James, who went to the Cleveland Cavaliers as the top pick.

Bosh played 13 seasons in the league: seven with the Raptors and six with the Miami Heat, with whom he infamously formed the Big Three with James and Dwyane Wade.

Bosh won two titles with the Heat and made 11 All-Star appearances overall. Despite having his career cut short due to a medical reason, he had a career filled with positive moments; James being his teammate was one of them.

Ahead of his induction ceremony, Bosh reflected on what playing with James was like, via NBA TV:

“The first time I saw LeBron play was in the summertime of 2001, he was 16 back then. He was the best player I had ever seen. Even me trying to be a recruit, and trying to be the best player I could be, and I was pretty good where I was from, don’t get me wrong, but seeing him play, he pretty much always set the tone for that class.”

There’s no doubt James will be in the Hall of Fame whenever he decides to hang up the sneakers, and seeing other incredible talent praise James in this manner shows just how remarkable he is.

Chris Bosh explains the impact David Fizdale will have on Lakers bench

Chris Bosh discussed David Fizdale’s coaching style and how he’ll impact the Los Angeles Lakers.

When Jason Kidd left his role as an assistant coach to become the head coach of the Dallas Mavericks, the Los Angeles Lakers needed to fill a vacancy on Frank Vogel’s staff.

Los Angeles wasted little time bringing in a replacement. Five days later, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported the Lakers were finalizing a deal with David Fizdale to take Kidd’s spot.

Fizdale was a head coach for the Memphis Grizzlies and New York Knicks, but both positions lasted just a year, and Fizdale didn’t have a coaching gig during this past season.

But when multiple teams around the league had various coaching openings, teams like the Indiana Pacers reportedly gave Fizdale a more lucrative offer than L.A. to join their bench. Still, Fizdale opted to join the Lakers, and he has experience with players like LeBron James.

James and Fizdale won two titles together in Miami during each of their tenures there, and now they have the opportunity to repeat that fortune again in L.A.

Along with James, Fizdale also coached dynamic big man Chris Bosh in Miami. On ESPN’s “The Jump”, Bosh explained what Fizdale will bring to the Lakers:

“He’s gonna bring, of course, that coach who loves to get into film, knows a lot about the game. He brings a presence that’s great for a locker room as well because he loves nothing more than basketball. And him being an L.A. guy, coming back home to be able to coach for the Lakers, I mean that’s a dream come true, for sure. And he’s filling a void left by Jason Kidd, him moving onto a head coaching spot, I’m sure that they will need another presence to fill in that bench. And I think for Fizdale, he’s one of the best guys out there as you guys know. We talk all the time, and he’s ready, he’s eager, he’s excited. And I know he’s gonna do a fantastic job with Vogel’s staff out there in L.A.”

The Lakers have also reportedly interviewed former Washington Wizards head coach Scott Brooks, but since Fizdale’s hiring filled up all remaining slots, L.A. could be preparing for a staff member to depart to a new position if it’s interviewing high-profile candidates like Brooks.

Chris Bosh on how Nets’ Big 3 would match up with his Heat Big 3

Chris Bosh says the Brooklyn Nets’ big three could beat his Miami Heat big three in their prime.

Chris Bosh, a two-time NBA Champion and former member of the Miami Heat Big Three in 2011-14, openly admitted that the Brooklyn Nets’ Big Three would beat his Heat Big Three if every player was in their prime. He made this statement when appearing on Fubo Sports Network on Tuesday.

“I’m gonna give the nod to them,” said Bosh. “I could score pretty good, and I’ll go out there and compete, but you know, they can do things I’ve never seen — In a 3-on-3 game, it’s just about what could happen. These guys could just make all jumpers. … I mean all three of them have that ability to be like that’s not fair.”

When Bosh’s Heat Big Three fell short of a championship of 2011 when they first got together, they went on to win the next two championships. Now that the Nets are on that same track and the former Heat big man is claiming they just aren’t “fair” considering their talent, we may see Brooklyn top that.

Chris Bosh once had a sleepless night after a matchup vs. Kevin Garnett

Chris Bosh explained why he couldn’t sleep one night after facing Kevin Garnett when the two Hall of Famers crossed paths.

The more separation we get from Kevin Garnett’s playing days, the more comes out about how unique of a personality he was. Up until now, Tony Allen was the last one to publicly provide insight on one of the best players of the early 2000s.

Some years ago, “The Bill Simmons Podcast” featured former Toronto Raptors and Miami Heat star, Chris Bosh. Simmons and Bosh spoke about a long list of items, one being the best power forwards he ever faced. Two came to mind. “(Tim) Duncan (and) KG (because) those were my heroes.” Duncan was the obvious answer, given his consistency and success.

Though, there was something different to Garnett.

6 reasons why Chris Bosh absolutely deserves a spot in the Basketball Hall of Fame

Bosh deserves this.

Chris Bosh might be a Hall of Famer soon. He was selected as a Hall of Fame finalist for 2021 along with Paul Pierce, Lakers star Michael Cooper, 3-time WNBA MVP Lauren Jackson, and a slew of other worthy names.

The Miami Heat start felt like he was snubbed last year. He thought he should’ve made the hall last season along with Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan.

Look, it’s hard to call any Hall of Fame selection a snub. These names are all worthy of being selected — it’s the pinnacle of basketball. They’re there for a reason.

We’ll find out whether Bosh makes the cut this time later in May. But whether he makes it or not this year, Bosh totally deserves to go in despite his career being cut short due to blood clot issues. Here’s why.

Chris Bosh opens up on finding out LeBron James was leaving Miami via text

Chris Bosh says he ‘took offense’ to LeBron James leaving the Heat after the 2014 NBA Finals.

LeBron James became a world champion in Miami and started his incredible streak of nine consecutive trips to the Finals with four appearances alongside superstar teammates Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, but stunned the organization in the summer of 2014 by leaving in free agency to rejoin the Cleveland Cavaliers.

In an appearance on the All The Smoke podcast, Bosh opened up about James’ departure from the Heat, which Bosh said took him months to get over personally. Bosh said that he thought James was “BSing” when he found out in a text message that the team’s MVP was leaving, but then saw every media outlet reporting the news minutes later.

Matt Barnes: “Was it talked about amongst you three? How did you find out he decided to take his talents back to Cleveland?”

Chris Bosh: “Through a text. Through a text. I thought he was BS-ing, and then about 10 minutes later it’s everywhere.

I understand it. I get it. At the time I didn’t understand it. At the time, in my mind, I was ready to put the team back together – because we had just lost [to the Spurs] – so we wanted to put something back together so we could win. And it really didn’t go like that. I took offense to it, to be honest, at first. I was only thinking of how I felt about it, and me and Bron talked about it, but you know, I’m a competitor.

And to be honest with you, when you go back to the locker room and Bron ain’t in that chair, and then everyone’s kind of looking at you for that 25 points and looking at [Dwyane Wade] for that 25 points, that’s like ‘damn, man… [expletive], my knee hurts!’

We really did realize how special of a player he was, but at that time, I’m super competitive, I was upset… and it took some time to get over it. I want to say… it took months to get over it. [LeBron and I] had to be in the same place and talk about it. Nothing deep, but just talk and get back to good terms and get back to where we were. I’m glad we did. It was tough to deal with.”
