2023 Women’s World Cup: China vs. England odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s China vs. England odds and lines, with Women’s World Cup soccer expert picks, predictions and best bets.

In a Group D matchup, China (1-1-0 / W-L-D) and England (2-0-0) meet Tuesday in the 2023 Women’s World Cup at Coopers Stadium in Hindmarsh, South Australia. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 a.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the China vs. England odds, and make our best Women’s World Cup bets, picks and predictions.

China opened its World Cup with a 1-0 setback against Denmark in the opener, and it returned the favor with a 1-0 victory over Group D doormat Haiti last time out on Friday despite playing a majority of the match with just 10 players.

China needs a win and a Denmark draw or loss to Haiti, or a draw and a Denmark loss, to advance to the Round of 16. China hasn’t won back-to-back games at the Women’s World Cup since 1999.

England opened the World Cup with a 1-0 win against Haiti in the opener, and it also posted a 1-0 victory against Denmark on Friday. That victory came with a big price, however, as midfielder Keira Walsh suffered a knee injury. The good news is that tests showed she didn’t suffer an ACL injury, but the bad news is that Walsh is out for this match.

England isn’t quite through just yet, but a draw or a win will punch its ticket to the knockout stages. It can even advance with a loss, depending on the goal differential.

  • Moneyline: China +600 (bet $100 to win $600) | England -225 (bet $225 to win $100) | Draw +320 (Bet $100 to win $320)
  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: +105 | U: -145)

China vs. England picks and predictions

Prediction

England 1, China 0

Moneyline (ML)

England (-225) will cost you over 2 times your potential return, and that’s a little too expensive. First off, “The Lionesses” do not need a victory to advance, but simply a draw. It remains to be seen whether it will be pushing super hard, or if it will simply be satisfied with a lower-scoring draw. And missing Walsh also messes up the chemistry a bit.

PASS.

Over/Under (O/U)

I feel as if UNDER 2.5 GOALS (-145) is a slam-dunk play. Based on the results in each of the 1st 2 matches for both sides, however, I’d roll the dice on UNDER 1.5 GOALS (+210) for a chance to more than double up, too.

If you’re really adventurous, playing 1 EXACT TOTAL GOAL (+310) for a chance to more than triple up is also worth a look.

Playing the “multiple correct score” prop with ENGLAND 1:0, 2:0 OR 3:0 (+135) at plus-money is also an attractive play.

2023 Women’s World Cup: China vs. Haiti odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s China vs. Haiti odds and lines, with Women’s World Cup soccer expert picks, predictions and best bets.

China (0 wins, 0 draws, 1 loss) plays Haiti (0-0-1) in each nation’s 2nd Women’s World Cup matchday on Friday. Kickoff in the Group D battle at Hindmarsh Stadium is set for 7 a.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the China vs. Haiti odds, and make our best Women’s World Cup bets, picks and predictions.

China lost to Denmark 1-0 on Saturday, but it did have as many shots on target (2). China ended with 9 shots and 44% of the game’s possession. The No. 14 team in the FIFA Women’s World Rankings will need a win to keep knockout stage aspirations alive. China beat Russia 2-1 and 1-0 in July for its only 2023 wins. It was 2-3-3 in friendlies prior to the World Cup.

Haiti ranks 53rd in the world and is the only nation Group D outside the top 15. Haiti lost 1-0 Saturday to No. 4 England. It had 2 shots on goal and 7 shots while allowing 11 shots on goal and 21 overall. Haiti won 4 of 6 matches prior to the event, but lost to its only World Cup-making opponents, Nigeria 2-1 and South Korea 2-1.

China vs. Haiti odds

Provided by BetMGM Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday at 9:44 a.m. ET.

  • Moneyline: China -160 (bet $160 to win $100) | Haiti +450 (bet $100 to win $450) | Draw +260 (bet $100 to win $260)
  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: +115 | U: -160)

China vs. Haiti picks and predictions

Prediction

China 2, Haiti 1

Moneyline (ML)

BET CHINA (-160).

Haiti has struggled this year against World Cup-caliber opponents. Both South Korea (2-0 loss to Columbia) and Nigeria (0-0 draw with Canada) were outplayed in their 1st match as well, further dampening Haiti’s 2-1 defeat by both teams. Haiti gave up 21 shots to England in a rough 1st match.

China lost as well, but it wasn’t dominated and played a respectable match against a top-13 side. China drew Columbia 2-2 in an unofficial friendly and has draws this calendar year against Ireland and Switzerland, both top-25 sides. It can compete with some top teams and should be able to take down a team of Haiti’s caliber.

Despite the juice, take CHINA (-160).

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN OVER 2.5 (+115).

While Unders have been hot in the World Cup, Haiti had gone Over this total in every match this year prior to the event. It scored in every game as well, scoring multiple goals in 4 of 6 matches prior to the tournament. It had a good attack and porous defense, allowing 21 shots to England but still managing 7.

China has gone Over in 3 of its last 4 matches and in 4 of its last 6. It has scored multiple goals in 2 of its last 4 and should have more success against a weaker Haitian defense.

With teams starting to settle in and more goals being scored in Cup games in general, take the OVER 2.5 (+115).

2023 Women’s World Cup: Denmark vs. China odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Denmark vs. China odds and lines, with Women’s World Cup soccer expert picks, predictions and best bets.

Denmark battles China in Group D action Saturday. Kickoff from Perth Rectangular Stadium in Australia is set for 8 a.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Denmark vs. China odds, and make our best Women’s World Cup bets, picks and predictions.

England and Haiti are the other 2 teams in Group D. England is the highest ranked team in the FIFA rankings at No. 4, while Denmark is 13th, China 14th and Haiti 53rd.

Denmark has won 4 of its 6 games in 2023, winning 2 of 3 in the Tournoi de France. It’s bringing one of the most experienced rosters with F Pernille Harder having 141 caps, MF Sanne Troelsgaard at 176 and D Katrine Veje at 145. Denmark qualified for this World Cup winning UEFA Group E.

China was the QF winner in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup to qualify. It has made it to 3 straight World Cups appearances. China is 2-3-3 (W-L-D) in 2023. It also features experience on its roster with 3 forwards having 100+ caps. Thirty-three-year-old captain F Wang Shanshan has 152 caps and 58 goals in her career.

Denmark vs. China odds

Provided by BetMGM Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Friday at 9:37 p.m. ET.

  • Moneyline: Denmark -120 (bet $120 to win $100) | China +320 (bet $100 to win $320) | Draw +240
  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: +115 | U: -160)

Denmark vs. China picks and predictions

Prediction

Denmark 1, China 1

Moneyline (ML)

SPRINKLE DRAW (+240).

China (+320) is the underdog here, but it has several quality performances so far in 2023. It drew Switzerland (ranked 20th in FIFA), Ireland (22nd) and Colombia (25th) this year. China’s 3 losses are to top-tier teams in Sweden (3rd), Spain (6th) and Brazil (8th).

China should be able to keep pace with Denmark (-120), which ranks more similarly to Japan and Switzerland than Sweden and Spain. China’s experience with 3 players in the midfield and defense with 100+ caps is also a factor that should help in its World Cup opener.

Denmark beat Sweden 1-0 but lost to Spain 2-0 in 2 of its last 3 matches. It should be a good battle against China, and with neither team having played in the last 2 years, the unfamiliar styles could lead to a stalemate.

For a small unit, BACK DRAW (+320).

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (-160).

Denmark has a strong defense and has clean sheets in 2 of its last 3 games, matches — vs. Japan and Sweden. It has gone Under this total in 5 of 6 games in 2023 as well.

China has gone Under in 3 of its last 7 games, drawing both Ireland and Switzerland 0-0 earlier this year. Two of its 3 most experienced strikers are 32- and 33-years-old, so their pace may not be able to produce as many opportunities.

Considering how the first few games of this World Cup have been at a slower pace and resulted in fewer goals, UNDER 2.5 (-160) seems like the better play here despite the extra juice.
