2023 Women’s World Cup: China vs. England odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s China vs. England odds and lines, with Women’s World Cup soccer expert picks, predictions and best bets.

In a Group D matchup, China (1-1-0 / W-L-D) and England (2-0-0) meet Tuesday in the 2023 Women’s World Cup at Coopers Stadium in Hindmarsh, South Australia. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 a.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the China vs. England odds, and make our best Women’s World Cup bets, picks and predictions.

China opened its World Cup with a 1-0 setback against Denmark in the opener, and it returned the favor with a 1-0 victory over Group D doormat Haiti last time out on Friday despite playing a majority of the match with just 10 players.

China needs a win and a Denmark draw or loss to Haiti, or a draw and a Denmark loss, to advance to the Round of 16. China hasn’t won back-to-back games at the Women’s World Cup since 1999.

England opened the World Cup with a 1-0 win against Haiti in the opener, and it also posted a 1-0 victory against Denmark on Friday. That victory came with a big price, however, as midfielder Keira Walsh suffered a knee injury. The good news is that tests showed she didn’t suffer an ACL injury, but the bad news is that Walsh is out for this match.

England isn’t quite through just yet, but a draw or a win will punch its ticket to the knockout stages. It can even advance with a loss, depending on the goal differential.

China vs. England picks and predictions

Prediction

England 1, China 0

Moneyline (ML)

England (-225) will cost you over 2 times your potential return, and that’s a little too expensive. First off, “The Lionesses” do not need a victory to advance, but simply a draw. It remains to be seen whether it will be pushing super hard, or if it will simply be satisfied with a lower-scoring draw. And missing Walsh also messes up the chemistry a bit.

PASS.

Over/Under (O/U)

I feel as if UNDER 2.5 GOALS (-145) is a slam-dunk play. Based on the results in each of the 1st 2 matches for both sides, however, I’d roll the dice on UNDER 1.5 GOALS (+210) for a chance to more than double up, too.

If you’re really adventurous, playing 1 EXACT TOTAL GOAL (+310) for a chance to more than triple up is also worth a look.

Playing the “multiple correct score” prop with ENGLAND 1:0, 2:0 OR 3:0 (+135) at plus-money is also an attractive play.
