The final days of training camp are underway for the Kansas City Chiefs as they prepare for their second preseason game. Wednesday’s practice had an extra boost with the appearance of NBA champion and Chiefs super fan Rasheed Wallace.

In photos shared by the Chiefs X account, Wallace is shown greeting Patrick Mahomes, Isiah Pacheco, Trent McDuffie, and head coach Andy Reid. The multiple-time NBA All-Star has often shown his appreciation for the team throughout his career on and off the court.

Chiefs Wire’s Ed Easton Jr. recently spoke to Wallace about his fandom and how it started decades ago.

“I became a Chiefs fan in 1992, and the reason being, I was a Montana fan; Joe Montana got traded from the Niners. I wasn’t a Niners fan — an individual of football. I didn’t have a team at the time, and then when he got traded, nobody I knew was a Chiefs fan.” said Wallace. “And so I was like, ‘Oh, man, that’s perfect; we were still in the gutter.’ We weren’t winning. I said, ‘OK, that’s just my team.’ I stuck with them through all the days. That’s the whole Trent Green, then the Alex Smith (eras). I have been there since ’92 for my guys, and now that we are finally winning, it feels stupendous.”

Wallace has transitioned to podcasting after retiring from basketball and is currently a co-host on “The Sheed & Tyler Show,” an Underdog Fantasy production.

#Chiefs 2024 schedule release explained by Taylor Swift fans | @EdEastonJr

The 2024 NFL schedule has been released, and analysts and fans are already making predictions for their favorite teams. Kansas City Chiefs fans hope this is the start of the journey to a three-peat, while new fans to Chiefs Kingdom via music star Taylor Swift are slowly adjusting before the new season gets underway.

The blossoming romance of Chiefs Pro Bowl tight end Travis Kelce and Swift had everyone’s attention last season. A new season is officially on the horizon following the release of the new schedule, with many of Swift’s fans looking forward to seeing the award-winning music star attend more games. NFL Network Anchor Taylor Biscotti and TCL, the official TV partner of the NFL, took to the streets of Los Angeles, testing the knowledge of some diehard Swifties to see how well they knew the Chiefs opponents.

The Swifties’ team names were questionable, but their support for the Chiefs heading into the 2024 season couldn’t be questioned. It is a fun, lighthearted view of the new season that could go down in football history with a third consecutive Super Bowl title.

Chiefs show support for women’s college basketball star Caitlin Clark in Final Four

The #Chiefs showed their support for women’s college basketball star Caitlin Clark before Iowa’s Final Four matchup against Connecticut.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ effect and fanbase stretches well beyond the games on the field. Actors, Musicians, and many others have supported the defending champions as lifelong fans.

The Chiefs decided to show appreciation for a particular fan who has become a national sensation on the basketball court. Iowa Hawkeyes star player Caitlin Clark is the all-time leading points scorer in Women’s Division One college basketball.

She has openly been a member of Chiefs Kingdom since childhood and received some support from her favorite team ahead of Friday’s Final Four game.

In a post on the Chiefs’ official Instagram, a young Clark is wearing Chiefs gear, followed by a supportive caption.

“You cheered for us. Now it’s our turn! All of Chiefs Kingdom is rooting you on tonight, @caitlinclark22.”

The Chiefs’ public display on social media may have been the lucky charm, as Clark led her team to a 71-69 victory over the Connecticut Huskies. The future top pick in the WNBA Draft finished with 21 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists, advancing to Sunday’s National Championship game.

Taylor Swift explained football to comedian Jerrod Carmichael during the Chiefs postseason

Taylor Swift explained football to comedian Jerrod Carmichael during the #Chiefs’ playoff game against the #Bills.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ celebrity wing notably added music superstar Taylor Swift last season. Her presence could help Chiefs Kingdom grow, as she’s already started recruiting more famous friends to games.

During Wednesday’s interview with Jimmy Kimmel on the Jimmy Kimmel Live! show, comedian Jerrod Carmichael revealed his friendship and experience with Swift at this year’s divisional-round game against the Buffalo Bills.

“That’s my best friend. Taylor Swift is my best friend,” said Carmichael, explaining that the pop star invited him to sit in her suite in Buffalo for the game. “I’m not her best friend, but she’s my best friend.”

The infamous suite was showcased often throughout the game because Travis Kelce’s brother Jason celebrated shirtless and chugging beers with fans. Carmichael, who doesn’t typically follow football, says Swift taught him while watching the game.

“She knows more about football than I do,” Carmichael said, admitting Swift’s knowledgable explanation. “Yeah, I’m the girlfriend in that situation.”

The Swift and Carmichael connection was also visible at the Chiefs’ visit to Foxboro against the New England Patriots. So it’s almost safe to say the star of the upcoming HBO show ‘Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show’ could become the latest celebrity member of Chiefs Kingdom.

The Kansas City Chiefs have a talented and loyal fan base that isn’t afraid to show their love for the team and its players. Many popular players include skill players Patrick Mahomes, Chris Jones, and Mecole Hardman, but for this story, it’s kicker Harrison Butker who has garnered one fan’s attention.

A video surfaced recently featuring a young football trading cards collector passionate about the Chiefs’ starting kicker. 12-year-old Parker Frederking showcases an unparalleled collection of Butker trading cards.

“I watched Butker kick the go-ahead field goal. And ever since I’ve been collecting cards,” said Frederking. “I discovered that he was Catholic and I go to a Catholic school, and it’s kind of cool to know that Butker’s also Catholic.”

Frederking is ranked number one in the number of unique cards of Butker on the trading card database website. He acknowledged having around 120 cards based on the Chiefs’ all-time field goal distance record holder.

“So I started this group of them about a year ago-ish, and my newest card that I just got was the gold out of 10,” said Frederking. “Couple of special cards up here. I have my Canadian stamp one of one, Butker.”

A nice homage to the Chiefs’ consistent kicker is a reminder of how passionate and essential the team is to the fans. Frederking isn’t bothered by the question he’s always asked when showing his collection.

“They’re just kind of like, ‘You collect a kicker?’”

LOOK: Chiefs’ 2022 Red Friday Flag revealed

The #Chiefs revealed their newest Red Friday Flag to help #ChiefsKingdom kick off the 2022 NFL season.

The Kansas City Chiefs have revealed the design for their 2022 Red Friday Flag.

This annual collector’s item is unique compared to designs from the past three seasons. The flag design in 2019 featured a special logo that was designed to celebrate the Chiefs’ 60th season as a franchise. The 2020 design commemorated the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LIV victory. The 2021 design was a little more simplistic than it had been in the two prior years, featuring just “Chiefs Kingdom” and team colors.

The 2022 flag features a red background with “Chiefs” in yellow and “Kingdom” in white and the team’s Arrowhead Logo beneath. There’s also a yellow border with red text repeating the phrase “Chiefs Kingdom.” There are no special dates or occasions commemorated on the flag this year.

You can purchase the flag here in a limited online presale for $10.00. All net proceeds from online orders will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities Kansas City. You’ll also be able to pick up this flag at McDonald’s locations in the Kansas City area ahead of the 2022 NFL season, typically the Friday before the start of the regular season. Details on that event will be revealed closer to the 2022 season’s kickoff.

Chiefs fans help raise more than $900K for Ronald McDonald House of Kansas City

#ChiefsKingdom helped raise over $900K for Ronald McDonald House Kansas City with online and in-person flag sales! | from @TheJohnDillon

Not all is lost this week after the Kansas City Chiefs’ defeat in Baltimore on Sunday night. The team reported in an official release on Tuesday that they managed to raise close to one million dollars for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City via promotional sales of the 2021 team flag on September 10th during Red Friday.

The annual event, which marked its 30th year ahead of the Chiefs’ home opener against Cleveland, has raised more than $3.7 million in the past nine years in an effort to help RMHC-KC “continue its mission of keeping families close in times of sickness and need” according to the release.

Flags were sold at McDonald’s and Hy-Vee locations in Kansas City and surrounding areas, as well as online for fans who couldn’t make it to a physical location. Sales this year were the second-highest on record since the team started selling flags in 2014 per the release. RMHC-KC CEO Tami Greenberg issued a statement through the team, thanking the Chiefs and those who participated for their generosity, emphasizing that the money would be put to good use.

“The power of Chiefs Kingdom is so inspiring – it helps us see that when we unite as a city, we can make a big difference to families with seriously ill children, $5 at a time,” Greenberg said. “A huge thank you to the Hunt family, the Chiefs organization and each person who bought a flag this year for making an extraordinary impact on the lives of sick kids and their families in KC and beyond.”

Chiefs’ President Mark Donovan also commented on the event, saying the team’s relationship with the charity is second to none, and that the organization is committed to furthering RMHC-KC’s work in the region.

“Red Friday continues to demonstrate the kindness and giving spirit of Chiefs Kingdom locally and across the globe,” Donovan said in the release, “We have a strong relationship with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City and understand how their work keeps families safe and comfortable in what can be tremendously difficult times. We are so proud and grateful to join with McDonald’s, our community partners and Chiefs fans everywhere to make this donation to help further the work that RMHC-KC is doing for families in our community and throughout the region.”

The team also facilitated sales of flags in Springfield, Missouri and Topeka, Kansas for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Ozarks and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Kansas respectively. They were able to raise $87,000 in Springfield and $45,000 in Topeka in addition to the money raised in Kansas City.

Red Friday is a tradition that was started by Chiefs’ Founder Lamar Hunt and the team’s Red Coaters in 1991 to aid youth in need, specifically in Kansas City. They’ve sold “team-themed commemorative items” such as newspapers, magazines, and flags, raising more than $4.2 million since the event’s inception.

Good work, Chiefs Kingdom! Let’s be sure to keep it up in the coming years.
