Khalil Mack gets revenge against Raiders with sack on Derek Carr

Khalil Mack got his first sack against his former team in the second quarter.

Bears edge rusher Khalil Mack’s first attempt at revenge against the team that traded him didn’t go as plan. Back in 2019, the Raiders contained Mack, holding him to a 1 QB hit and no sacks.

In Mack’s second game against his former team, he finally got some revenge with a sack on his former teammate and friend, Raiders quarterback Derek Carr. It was Mack’s fifth sack of the season, surpassing teammate Robert Quinn (4.5) for the team lead.

The Bears defense did a good job against a high-powered Raiders offense in the first half, holding them to just 3 points. They’ll need to continue to bring pressure on Carr to give themselves a chance to pull off the upset.

Well, his final revenge would be a victory over his former team. But that’s still to be determined, even as the Bears lead 14-3 in the third quarter.

Damien Williams scores a touchdown to extend Bears’ first-half lead

Damien Williams scored a 4-yard touchdown to extend the Bears’ lead in the first half.

The Chicago Bears running game continues on even without starting running back David Montgomery. Backup running back Damien Williams, getting the start against the Las Vegas Raiders with Montgomery out due to a knee injury, has found plenty of holes during the game and reach paydirt late in the second quarter.

Williams scored a four-yard rushing touchdown, featuring a spin move on Raiders defensive back Amik Robertson, to put the Bears up 14-3. The touchdown capped off a 16-play drive.

Williams has 11 carries for 51 yards and a score on the day as the Bears lead the Raiders 14-3 at halftime.

Bears RT Germain Ifedi questionable to return with knee injury

Germain Ifedi suffered a knee injury in the second quarter and is questionable to return.

The Chicago Bears have had some injury scares in the first half of Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders, including quarterback Justin Fields, who took a shot to the ribs and appeared to have hyperextended his knee.

While Fields has remained in the game, the Bears weren’t so lucky with right tackle Germain Ifedi, who suffered a knee injury near the end of the second quarter. Ifedi left the game and is questionable to return.

With Ifedi out, Elijah Wilkinson has stepped in at right tackle.

The Bears lead the Raiders 14-3 at halftime.

Justin Fields’ first NFL passing touchdown goes to Jesper Horsted

Justin Fields has his first NFL passing touchdown.

While Bears rookie quarterback Justin Fields is making his third NFL start, he has yet to throw a passing touchdown. Until today.

Following a rough start, the Bears offense finally got into a rhythm on their third drive of the game. They marched 72 yards in 10 plays to score their first touchdown of the game — a 2-yard touchdown pass from Fields to tight end Jesper Horsted. It was Fields’ first career NFL passing touchdown.

Fields completed 4-of-5 passes for 31 yards and a score on the drive.

The Bears lead the Raiders 7-3 in the second quarter.

The Chicago Bears are facing off against the Las Vegas Raiders, where Chicago is looking to pull off an upset on the road.

The Bears are coming off an encouraging Week 4 win over the Lions, where Chicago’s offense looked the best it has all season. With new play-caller Bill Lazor, the Bears established the run and opened things up deep with Justin Fields. The Bears defense has been one of the best getting after the quarterback with an NFL-best 15 sacks this season, and they’ll be looking to turn the pressure up on Raiders quarterback Derek Carr.

But Chicago will be without two key starters in running back David Montgomery, who is sidelined with a knee sprain for 3-5 weeks, and defensive tackle Akiem Hicks, who is sidelined with a groin injury.

Three years ago, the Bears pulled off a blockbuster trade for All-Pro edge rusher Khalil Mack, dealing two first-round draft picks, among others, to the Raiders for his services.

And years later, there are many who can’t believe the Raiders ever dealt him.

“I don’t know who would ever trade him,” said Bears outside linebacker Robert Quinn.

Over the last three years, there’s been a debate about who won the Mack trade. Ultimately, the Bears got Mack, tight end Cole Kmet (2020 second-round pick) and guard Arlington Hambright (2020 seventh-round pick). The Raiders got running back Josh Jacobs (2019 first-round pick), receiver Hunter Renfrow (2019 sixth-round pick traded for 2019 fifth-rounder), cornerback Damon Arnette (2020 first-round pick) and receiver Bryan Edwards (2020 third-round pick).

“I’m the last person to think about what they got,” Mack said. “That’s not how I vibe. I know what we’ve got here and ultimately I want to win championships here and put ourselves in positions to do those things, and the thing that is going to do that is beating them this week.”

This won’t be the first time Mack has faced his former team, with the last meeting coming in 2019, where the Raiders eked out a 24-21 win in London. The Raiders were keen on keeping Mack in check, which they were able to do. Mack was held to zero sacks and just 1 QB hit. But Sunday’s game presents a new opportunity.

“Not really focusing on the past too much,” Mack said. “I don’t care what they do. I just know I will be ready for it.”

As Mack prepares to face his former team for the second time — the first time in their house — there are plenty of Raiders fans who still wish Mack was on their team.

“It’s different in a sense because you understand the fan base and what it means to me especially,” Mack said. “It’s going to be fun to get a chance to play in front of the Raider Nation.”

Chicago Bears vs. Las Vegas Raiders preview: Who has the advantage in Week 5?

We went deep into the Bears-Raiders matchup with Raiders Wire to determine who has the advantage at the five key factors.

The Chicago Bears (2-2) will face the Las Vegas Raiders (3-1) on Sunday, where Chicago will be looking for its first road win of the season. But they face quite the challenge against a very talented Las Vegas team.

When it comes to determining who wins football games, there are a number of factors that contribute to a victory. Solid quarterback play, winning the line of scrimmage, protecting the football and taking it away, controlling important situations and overcoming or taking advantage of an injury situation.

In our weekly preview series, Alyssa Barbieri from Bears Wire and Marcus Mosher from Raiders Wire went deep into the matchup to determine who has the advantage at the five key factors for winning football games in the NFL.
