Chicago Bears at Cleveland Browns odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Chicago Bears at Cleveland Browns odds and lines, with expert NFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Chicago Bears (2-0) and Cleveland Browns (1-1) wrap up their preseason schedule Saturday. Kickoff from FirstEnergy Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Bears vs. Browns odds, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

Bears coach Matt Eberflus announced earlier this week that QB Justin Fields and the 1stt-team offense are expected to play 25-30 snaps, or well into the first half. Fields totaled 27 snaps in the first 2 preseason outings.

While Fields will play plenty, WRs N’Keal Harry, Byron Pringle and Tajae Sharpe are all dealing with injuries and unlikely to suit up, perhaps leading to a more run-based attack.

Browns QB Jacoby Brissett is expected to play a good chunk of offensive snaps after sitting out the first 2 preseason games, and the 1st-team offense could potentially play most of the first half.

Bears at Browns picks and predictions

Prediction

Bears 22, Browns 18

Money line

The BEARS (+180) will be taking this dress-rehearsal game seriously, leaning upon the starters for a good chunk of the first half. The Browns (-230) are presumably in the same boat, although coach Kevin Stefanski hasn’t been as open with his plan.

Still, the Bears have the promising Fields under center, while the Browns will be giving Brissett his 1st game action of the preseason. It’s likely to go in Chicago’s favor here.

Against the spread

The BEARS +3.5 (-110) are a solid play catching the three and a hook if you just can’t pull the trigger on them straight up.

Chicago has won and covered against the Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks in this preseason, and there have been plenty of bright spots on offense.

[the_huddle]

Over/Under

The lean is to the UNDER 41.5 (-110) here despite the presence of starters presumably on both sides for a good amount of the 1st half. These teams are likely to try and run the ball plenty, and running equals Under results.

The Bears defense has been stout in the 2 exhibition games, too, allowing just 12.5 PPG. While the Browns have totaled 22.0 PPG on offense, the defense is also allowing just 17.0 PPG in the preseason.

NFL Week 3 Can’t-Miss Parlay: 3 bets you can count on

Assessing the NFL betting odds and lines for Week 3, with predictions and picks for the best parlay bet to make.

Week 3 offers some intriguing NFL matchups. The 2-0 Tampa Bay Buccaneers visit the 2-0 Los Angeles Rams, two AFC West young guns renew their rivalry as QBs Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs host Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers, and Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers will try to spoil the 2-0 San Francisco 49ers’ home opener on Sunday Night Football.

However, those high-profile games often don’t offer the best values on the NFL board. That in mind, here goes with our can’t-miss Week 3 parlay.

Leg 1: Chicago Bears at Cleveland Browns UNDER 44.5 (-112)

Points come out of the passing game in the NFL, and so this matchup of two top-10 rushing attacks butting heads against two top-10 rush defenses sets up nicely for a low-scoring scrum.

Throw in rookie Bears QB Justin Fields making his first pro start, that start coming on the road and a Browns’ aerial game featuring absent Jarvis Landry (injured reserve) and still-on-the-mend Odell Beckham Jr., and the UNDER 44.5 (-112) is the play.

Leg 2: Tennessee Titans -4.5 (-108) vs. Indianapolis Colts

The two teams that have been the class of the AFC South in recent seasons, and you’d figure they would have a recent history of close contests.

But that’s not the case.

Eight of the last 10 head-to-head meetings were decided by at least a touchdown with an average margin of victory of 12.9 points.
Given Indy QB Carson Wentz‘s injury issues and the worrisome depth behind him, Tennessee is the better (and healthier) team at this time.

So go ahead and lay the number here and bank on a comfortable TITANS -4.5 (-108) win at home.

Leg 3: Las Vegas Raiders ML (-180) vs. Miami Dolphins

Miami is another team with QB injury issues early in the season as starter Tua Tagovailoa is out with fractured ribs. Jacoby Brissett takes over, but he’s not quite at the level of Ryan Fitzpatrick who replaced a struggling Tua in Week 16 last season and led the Dolphins to a miraculous, 26-25 comeback win in Vegas.

This is a 2-0 Silver & Black squad, though, that looks to be more talented and focused than the collapsing version that finished 2020 on a 2-5 tumble.
The Miami pass defense is formidable, however, and the field-goal-plus-a-hook line is always daunting for the favorite in a tight matchup.

So, take the home team on the money line and cash in on some RAIDERS (-180) revenge Sunday afternoon in the desert.

Chicago Bears at Cleveland Browns, picks and prediction

Analyzing the Chicago Bears at Cleveland Browns Week 3 odds and lines, with expert NFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Chicago Bears (1-1) visit the Cleveland Browns (1-1) Sunday in Week 3. Kickoff at First Energy Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we look at the Bears vs. Browns odds and lines, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

Both teams are coming off Week 2 victories after dropping their season opener.

The big news out of the Bears’ 20-17 home win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2 was that starting QB Andy Dalton injured his knee and won’t play Sunday. Rookie QB Justin Fields will make his first NFL start.

Fields played the entire second half vs. Cincinnati, leading Chicago (-2) to a point-spread cover as the game finished Under (44.5). The first-round draft pick out of Ohio State completed 6 of 13 passes for 60 yards with no touchdowns and 1 interception while rushing for 31 yards on 10 carries in the victory.

Cleveland beat the Houston Texans 31-21 in Week 2 but didn’t cover as a 13.5-point favorite with the Over (49) sending backers to window.

QB Baker Mayfield rallied the Browns from a 21-14 second-quarter deficit with a game-tying 5-yard TD run before the half and a 33-yard touchdown pass midway in the third quarter. He finished with 213 passing yards, while RB Nick Chubb led the ground attack with 95 rushing yards in the win.

Bears at Browns odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Browns 24, Bears 20

Money line

AVOID. The Browns (-360) should win in front of the home crowd, but making any bet at 3.6 times your potential profit is not smart.

Against the spread

CHICAGO +7.5 (-120) is the STRONGEST PLAY – 1½ times your usual wager.

Despite Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. being expected to make his season debut, I prefer to take the BEARS and the points because of the “hook” (half point) on the 7.5 spread. OBJ last played in Week 7 of 2020 when tore his ACL.

Expect the Bears to be focused with Fields getting the start. His ability to run will cause the Browns defense problems, making this a tight affair.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 44.5 (-105) to WIN a QUARTER UNIT.

The Bears defense surrendered 34 points in the opening loss at the Los Angeles Rams, but that was a trip to the West Coast with a later start time. The Bears be more comfortable with the 1 p.m. ET kickoff in Cleveland.

Their defense finished 13th in points allowed (23.1) last season and only allowed 21 points in last season’s playoff loss at the New Orleans Saints.
