5 things to watch in Bears’ matchup vs. Ravens and a prediction

The Bears and Steelers will battle on Sunday, and here’s what we’ll be watching for as Chicago looks to snap a four-game losing streak.

The Chicago Bears will host the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, where Chicago will be looking for avoid a fifth straight loss. But a talented Baltimore team awaits them.

This can be a winnable game for the Bears, but they’ll need strong performances from all phases if they hope to pull off the upset.

From Justin Fields’ continued development to the absences of Khalil Mack and Allen Robinson, here are five things we’re watching for in the Bears’ Week 11 matchup — and a final prediction!

Bears RB Damien Williams downgraded to doubtful vs. Ravens

The Bears have downgraded RB Damien Williams to doubtful vs. Ravens with a calf injury.

The Chicago Bears have suffered some big blows on the injury front this week, and it sounds like they’ll be without another player when they welcome the Baltimore Ravens to town.

Running back Damien Williams, who has been dealing with a calf injury, has been downgraded to doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Ravens. Williams practiced all week for Chicago and was listed with a knee injury.

Now, it appears that Williams suffered a calf injury during practice, and he won’t be ready to go Sunday.

Luckily for the Bears, they have David Montgomery back and rookie Khalil Herbert as a reserve, so they should be fine at the running back position.

The Bears will be without defensive tackle Akiem Hicks (ankle), who’s been ruled out, as well as wide receiver Allen Robinson (hamstring), who’s officially doubtful. That, as well as outside linebacker Khalil Mack landing on injured reserve with season-ending foot surgery.

There is some encouraging news as safety Eddie Jackson is on track to return as he’s officially questionable and safety Deon Bush is on track to be activated off IR.

The Chicago Bears (3-6) will face the Baltimore Ravens (6-3) on Sunday, where the Bears are looking to return from the bye week with an upset win over the Ravens.

While Baltimore are heavy favorites and no one is giving Chicago a chance, this is certainly a winnable game — if the Bears play near-flawless, complementary football.

To get the inside scoop on the Bears’ Week 11 opponent, we checked in with Kevin Oestreicher at Ravens Wire, who offered his insight on what we can expect for Sunday.

Here’s what we learned:

Bears vs. Ravens preview: Who has the advantage in Week 11

We went deep into the Bears-Ravens matchup with Ravens Wire to determine who has the advantage at the five key factors.

The Chicago Bears (3-6) will host the Baltimore Ravens (6-3) on Sunday, where Chicago is looking to snap a four-game losing streak against a talented Baltimore squad.

When it comes to determining who wins football games, there are a number of factors that contribute to a victory. Solid quarterback play, winning the line of scrimmage, protecting the football and taking it away, controlling important situations and overcoming or taking advantage of an injury situation.

In our weekly preview series, Alyssa Barbieri from Bears Wire and Kevin Oestreicher from Ravens Wire went deep into the matchup to determine who has the advantage at the five key factors for winning football games in the NFL.

Analyzing Bears’ final injury report for Week 11 against Ravens

The Bears’ final injury report ahead of Sunday’s game against the Ravens is a brutal one. We’re breaking it down here.

The Chicago Bears released their final injury report ahead of Sunday’s matchup with the Baltimore Ravens, where there’s plenty of bad news all around.

Outside linebacker Khalil Mack didn’t appear on the injury report as he’s landed on injured reserve, where he’ll have season-ending foot surgery. But as far as this game goes, defensive tackle Akiem Hicks (ankle) has been ruled out and receiver Allen Robinson (hamstring) has been listed as doubtful.

Safety Eddie Jackson (hamstring), who’s missed the last couple of games, has been ruled questionable for Sunday’s game against the Ravens.

Updated odds for Bears-Ravens Week 11 matchup

The Bears are now 4.5-point home underdogs against the Ravens, per Tipico.

The Chicago Bears will host the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, where they’ll be looking to snap a four-game losing streak coming off their bye week.

But it won’t be easy, especially considering the Bears are 0-3 after the bye week during the Matt Nagy era and will face Lamar Jackson and a Ravens team coming off a brutal loss.

The Bears opened as 6.5-point home underdogs against the Ravens, according to Tipico Sportsbook. That line has since shifted to 4.5 for the Ravens, as of Chicago. The over/under is set at 44.5 points.

While Jackson has missed practice this week with a non-COVID-related illness —  the fourth time it’s happened this season — he should be good to go for Sunday’s game, which means the Bears defense faces a tall order of defending one of the NFL’s most dynamic quarterbacks.

The good news is their rookie quarterback Justin Fields is coming off the best game of his young NFL career, where he continues to grow with each game. There are opportunities for Fields to take advantage of what’s been an inconsistent Ravens defense.

Chicago has been underdogs seven other times this season against the Rams, Browns, Raiders, Packers, Bucs, 49ers and Steelers. The Bears have been favorites in Week 2 against the Bengals and Week 4 against the Lions this season, both wins.

Can the Bears get back on track with an upset over the Ravens? Or will Baltimore send Chicago to a five-game losing streak ahead of Thanksgiving? We’ll see when the Bears and Ravens kick things off Sunday at Noon on CBS.

Bears vs. Ravens predictions: Can Chicago snap their 4-game losing streak?

Can Chicago snap their losing streak against the Ravens in Week 11? Our Bears Wire staff shares their predictions for Sunday’s game.

The Chicago Bears (3-6) will host the Baltimore Ravens (6-3) on Sunday, where Chicago will be looking to avoid dropping five straight games coming off a bye week.

The Bears haven’t won a game coming off the bye week since 2013, and it’s certainly not going to be easy against Lamar Jackson and the Ravens, a team coming off a brutal loss and looking to get back on track in the AFC.

Bears Wire podcast: Can Chicago record an upset over Ravens off the bye week?

We’re discussing Justin Fields, the surprising and disappointing players at the midway point and previewing Sunday’s game vs. Ravens.

The Chicago Bears didn’t lose a football game last week, thanks to a perfectly-timed bye week that gave the team a reprieve after their fourth straight loss and with some banged up players.

But considering the Bears haven’t won a game off the bye since 2013, there’s little reason to believe they can actually pull it off this time. Even though the Baltimore Ravens are coming off a loss to the Miami Dolphins and Justin Fields and this Bears offense has a chance to continue their upward trajectory.

As the Bears return from a much-needed bye week, host Ryan O’Leary (@RyanO_Leary) and myself (@AlyssaBarbieri) are discussing Fields’ growth, the return of rookie offensive tackle Teven Jenkins, the most surprising and disappointing players at the midway point and previewing the Bears’ matchup against the Ravens.
