The wait is almost over for the 2024 NFL draft, where Bears fans are ready to welcome new quarterback Caleb Williams to Chicago.

The Bears only have four picks, but two of them are in the top 10, where they can land a pair of blue chip players to help elevate their roster. Williams is a guarantee to be the first.

Chicago is coming off a strong close to the 2023 season, where there are high expectations for the direction of the team this year. Not only are they welcoming Williams to the fold, but they have an arsenal of weapons ready for him and a potential top-five defense.

The Chicago Bears finally made their quarterback decision, trading Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a conditional sixth-round pick.

The move didn’t really come as a surprise considering all signs have been pointing toward the Bears drafting Caleb Williams at No. 1 overall, although the compensation (and the lack of a market) certainly did.

Fields wasn’t dealt a fair hand in Chicago, but the Bears also couldn’t afford to pass up on a potential generational talent in Williams — along with resetting the rookie quarterback clock.

The hot topic on everyone’s mind: Justin Fields or Caleb Williams? We discuss on the latest episode of the Bears Wire Podcast.

The Chicago Bears are in the midst of the franchise’s most important offseason in recent memory, where there’s one looming question that’s dominated discussion: What are they going to do at quarterback?

The Bears have the honor — and perhaps curse — of having the first overall pick for the second consecutive year. Which has prompted difficult questions and evaluations as general manager Ryan Poles decides whether to stick with Justin Fields or use the top pick on a quarterback.

According to a report, Chicago is finalizing their quarterback plans ahead of the NFL Scouting Combine next week. And they’ve already garnered trade inquiries about Fields.

At this point, all signs indicate the Bears will elect to trade Fields and start over with a rookie, most likely Caleb Williams, who some have called the best quarterback prospect of the past decade.

The Chicago Bears are in the midst of what could be a franchise-altering offseason with some big decisions that will dictate the direction of this team for the foreseeable future.

Bears general manager Ryan Poles already made his first big move — sticking with Matt Eberflus as head coach, despite some franchise-worst losing streaks and struggles to close out fourth-quarter leads.

Poles said it was his call to retain Eberflus, where it’s clear the third-year GM is tethering his future to Eberflus’ if things go downhill in 2024.

But perhaps Poles’ biggest decision will come at the quarterback position, where Chicago will have to decide between keeping Justin Fields or using the first overall pick on a rookie, most likely Caleb Williams.

Podcast: Fourth quarter failings should seal Bears HC Matt Eberflus’ fate

The Bears’ latest blown fourth-quarter lead is a reminder that Matt Eberflus isn’t the guy. We discuss on The Bears Wire Podcast.

The Chicago Bears have some important decisions to make this offseason, including whether to bring back Matt Eberflus as head coach in 2024.

While there’s no denying what Eberflus has done with this defense this season, there are still questions about whether he can be the guy to lead this team back to relevance.

Last Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns was another reminder that Eberflus’ teams don’t know how to close out games. Chicago blew another 10-plus point lead in the fourth quarter in a gut-wrenching 20-17 loss to the Browns. It marked the third time this season where the Bears have blown a double-digit lead in the final quarter, which is tied for the most in a season in NFL history.

Bears rookie QB Tyson Bagent will make his first NFL start Sunday against the Raiders. We discuss.

The Chicago Bears (1-5) are gearing up for a Week 7 game against the Las Vegas Raiders (3-3), which is shaping up to be a battle of the backup quarterbacks.

Justin Fields suffered a dislocated thumb on his right throwing hand in last Sunday’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings (2-4). He’s doubtful for the Raiders game, which means it’ll be undrafted rookie Tyson Bagent making his first NFL start.

With Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo officially ruled out for Sunday, it’s a matter of if it’ll be veteran Brian Hoyer or fourth-round rookie Aidan O’Connell under center for Las Vegas.

Fields has shown impressive improvement in the passing game against the Denver Broncos and Commanders, where he’s completed 67 percent of his passes for 617 yards with eight touchdowns and one interception. He’s tied for the second-most touchdown passes (11) among quarterbacks through the first five games.

Receiver DJ Moore had a standout performance with eight catches for a career-high 230 yards and three touchdowns, where his connection with Fields flourished.

While Matt Eberflus’ future in Chicago remains uncertain, there’s no doubt that the team showed up for him as they got a well-deserved victory.
