National Signing Day is in full swing and we’ve got you covered here at UGA Wire throughout the day.

Georgia football added to its No. 1 overall class with the signing of four-star running back Chauncey Bowens.

Bowens, from the Benjamin School in North Palm Beach, Fla., is the nation’s No. 16 ranked running back in the class of 2024, per 247Sports. He is ranked as the No. 168 overall player in the nation.

The Bulldogs flipped Bowens (5-foot-11, 219 pounds) from rival Florida on June 10. His physical running style will fit right in with the Georgia ground game.

Bowens joins four-stars Dwight Phillips Jr. and Nate Frazier as the Bulldogs’ signees at tailback.

Watch: 4-star Georgia RB commit shows off in weight room

Big lift by Chauncey Bowens…

2024 Georgia running back commit Chauncey Bowens seems to be working hard in the weight room ahead of his senior high school season.

The North Palm Beach, Fla., native posted this clip to his Twitter account on Thursday, which features Bowens lifting over 600 pounds four times on a hex bar.

Regardless of form, 630 pounds is an insane amount of weight for Bowens, who stands 5-foot-11, 220 pounds.

Bowens flipped his commitment from the Florida Gators to the Bulldogs in early June. The four-star recruit is the nation’s No. 12 ranked running back in the class of 2024, per 247Sports. He is ranked as the No. 202 overall player in the nation.

Bowens was only one of four blue-chip running backs who have announced their college commitments since Saturday, though.

Here’s a quick rundown of all the latest commitments, including a new quarterback for Baylor from the class of 2025.

This gets me excited…

On Saturday, the Georgia Bulldogs extended their dominance over the Florida Gators, flipping 4-star running back Chauncey Bowens from UF to UGA.

Bowens, from the Benjamin School in North Palm Beach, Florida, is the nation’s No. 12 ranked running back in the class of 2024, per 247Sports. He is ranked as the No. 202 overall player in the nation.

At 5-foot-11, 220 pounds, Bowens becomes Georgia’s 18th commit in its No. 1 ranked class of 2024.

In 2021, Bowens rushed for 1,193 yards and recorded 13 total touchdowns on 179 carries. Last season, he recorded 130 carries, for 940 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns.

Bowens is a three-sport athlete. He runs track and field and plays lacrosse in addition to football. The Benjamin School star has good speed and maintains balance through contact.

247Sports’ scouting report of Bowens describes him as a big, bruising ball carrier who seeks out contact, but is also elusive enough to avoid it at times.

“A thick downhill runner with the vision and foot speed to produce big gains,” Andrew Ivins, the Director of Scouting, says.

Here’s some junior season highlights from the physical back:

Florida loses commitment from 4-star running back to Georgia

The Gators need to look for another running back in the class of 2024 following Georgia’s flip of Chauncey Bowens.

Billy Napier and his recruiting staff are back in the market for a running back in Florida’s 2024 recruiting class following a decommitment from The Benjamin School’s (North Palm Beach, Florida) [autotag]Chauncey Bowens[/autotag], who flipped to the Gators’ rivals, the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday.

Only four-star linebacker Myles Graham had been committed to UF longer, but On3’s Hayes Fawcett is reporting that this flip has been on the table for some time. It wasn’t an easy decision, but Bowens’ May claim of being 100% locked in with Florida sounds like it might have been stretching the truth a bit.

“It was a tough decision and I had thoughts of doing it months ago,” Bowens said. “But ultimately I had to stick to my gut.”

Losing any four-star recruit is tough, but losing him to your biggest conference rival stings a bit more. He’s described by scouts as one of the top running backs in the class, in terms of size and speed. Most just have one tool, but Bowens runs a 10.88-second 100-meter at just under 6 feet tall and 215 pounds. As a rising junior, it doesn’t get much more projectable than that.

Florida will now have to gameplan against Bowens rather than for him. There’s no good way to sugarcoat the loss, and Stacy Gage — who is another running back target for Florida — just pledged his services to UCF.

Napier and Co. will need to add at least one more running back to the class of 2024 after losing Bowens, preferably two. The Gators are ranked No. 22 overall on 247Sports team recruiting rankings for the 2024 class.

4-star Florida RB commit schedules visit to UGA

2024 four-star running back Chauncey Bowens plans to take an official visit to Georgia June 9-11.

Bowens has been committed to the Florida Gators since September.

Georgia offered him in December. In January, Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart visited Bowens in North Palm Beach, Florida. A few days after that, Bowens visited UGA on an unofficial visit.

Bowens (The Benjamin School/North Palm Beach, Florida), ranks as the nation’s No. 205 overall player and No. 13 running back in the class of 2024, per 247Sports.

Georgia’s 2024 class ranks No. 2 in the nation. Headlined by No. 1 overall player, quarterback Dylan Raiola, UGA has 13 commitments in the class. Included in that is four-star running back Dwight Phillips, the nation’s No. 81 overall player.

Gators add fifth commitment to 2024 recruiting class

Florida’s recruiting class of 2024 is beginning to take shape with five commitments in the books after Monday’s announcement from Peach State safety Josiah Davis.

Berrien High (Nashville, Georgia) safety Josiah Davis announced his commitment to the University of Florida on Monday.

The 6-foot-1-inch, 185-pound defensive back picked Florida over Kentucky, Louisville, NC State and Tennessee to become the fifth commitment in Florida’s 2024 recruiting class.

Davis was in town on Saturday and let head coach Billy Napier know that he was going to announce his decision in the following days. Quickly bonding with the team’s new defensive coordinator, [autotag]Austin Armstrong[/autotag], among other coaches on the staff, played a large role in his decision.

“Florida is just a great school overall, football and academic-wise,” Davis said to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. “The bond I have with the coaches, especially coach CJ, coach Bateman, and Coach Armstrong. They treat me very special every time I visit up there.”

Davis is a three-star recruit, according to both 247Sports and On3. He comes in at No. 461 overall on the On3 industry ranking’s national list and at No. 39 among safeties in the class.

He joins five-star quarterback [autotag]DJ Lagway[/autotag], four-star linebackers [autotag]Myles Graham[/autotag] and [autotag]Adarius Hayes[/autotag] and four-star running back [autotag]Chauncey Bowens[/autotag] in the class of 2024.

Florida is now up to No. 3 in the national recruiting rankings, according to On3, but there’s still plenty of time for things to change in either direction.
