Chance Nolan reveals his transfer destination

The Frogs add a quarterback to the roster.

The TCU Horned Frogs add another quarterback to their roster for the 2023 college football season.

Last season Chandler Morris was named the starting quarterback to begin the year but an injury in the opening game paved the way for Max Duggan to take back his job. Despite Morris recovering from that injury, the senior quarterback didn’t relinquish his spot. TCU would march all the way to the CFP championship game before being vanquished by the Georgia Bulldogs.

With Duggan heading to the NFL following the 2022 season, Morris was expected to take back the starting job. Behind him the team has Josh Hoover and Luke Pardee as the primary backups. You can now add former Oregon State quarterback Chance Nolan to the list.

The Beavers added former five-star quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei to the roster following Nolan’s departure. He appeared in five games for the Beavers in 2022 completing 59.5% of his passes for 7 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. Overall, the 6-foot-3 quarterback has 4,153 yards passing with 32 touchdowns to 20 interceptions. The team found success under backup Ben Gulbranson, who appeared in 10 games last season.

Nolan tweeted, “Blessed and Excited for the Next Part.”

Coming out of high school as part of the 2020 recruiting cycle, Nolan was listed as the No. 1 pro-style quarterback in the country as a three-star prospect from Menifee, California, according to 247Sports.

The Frogs have recently added a wide receiver through the transfer portal with Minnesota’s Dylan Wright committing to the program on Apr. 6. TCU will have plenty of talent on that side of the ball a Alabama’s Tommy Brockermeyer and JoJo Earle, as well as LSU tight end Jack Bech all joining the Frogs in 2023.

Brock Vandagriff makes decision regarding future at Georgia

The former five-star QB’s future in Athens is now known.

As Auburn looks to pursue a quarterback during the spring transfer portal window, it appears that a potential candidate is out of the running.

[autotag]Brock Vandagriff[/autotag], one of three quarterbacks fighting for the starting quarterback role at Georgia, has made the decision that he will stay in Athens through at least the 2023 season according to a report by Rusty Mansell of 247Sports.

Vandagriff has been in stiff competition with Carson Beck and Gunner Stockton for the role of QB1 after the departure of Stetson Bennett. He threw for 175 yards and two touchdowns in Georgia’s G-Day game last Saturday, but it appears that Beck is the frontrunner for the job after he completed 15-22 passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns.

After the game, Vandagriff shared his uncertainty regarding whether or not he would continue to compete for the starting job, or if he would look for opportunities elsewhere.

“I’m not sure. I guess there’s some praying to do,” Vandagriff said after Saturday’s scrimmage. “But my plans, for now, are to just take it day by day.”

That ends speculation that Vandagriff could enter the transfer portal, which means that Auburn will have to continue to dig within the transfer portal until April 30.

According to On3’s transfer portal rankings, the highest-rated quarterback without a home is Oregon State quarterback [autotag]Chance Nolan[/autotag]. According to Jeffrey Lee of Auburn Live, Auburn reached out to Nolan earlier this month ($).

Other quarterbacks within On3’s top 50 quarterbacks who have not committed elsewhere are NC State’s Ben Finley, Old Dominion’s Hayden Wolff, Weber State’s Bronson Barron, Central Michigan’s Daniel Richardson, and Arizona’s Jordan McCloud.
