Chad Powers, definitely not Eli Manning, added to Madden Ultimate Team

Penn State walk-on Chad Powers, who is definitely not New York Giants legend Eli Manning, has been added to Madden Ultimate Team.

Chad Powers, the fictional character/alter-ego created by former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, is being added to the Madden Ultimate Team on the iconic EA Sports game.

Manning created the character a few years back as a gag for his and his brother Peyton’s Omaha Productions.

Manning donned a disguise and pretended to be a walk-on hopeful for the Penn State football program.

The Chad Powers story is headed to Hulu with Glen Powell as Powers, who is described as “a disgraced college quarterback named Russ Holliday (who) disguises himself as Chad Powers and walks onto a struggling southern football team to revive his football career.”

Chad Powers, an Eli Manning creation, being turned into Hulu TV show

Hulu has ordered a TV series based off Chad Powers, an Eli Manning and Omaha Productions creation that went hilariously viral in 2022.

Retired New York Giants legend Eli Manning playfully created Chad Powers, an unlikely quarterback “tryout” for Penn State University, back in 2022 as part of his Eli’s Places series.

Unsurprisingly, Manning’s transformation went over well and became a hilarious viral sensation.

Almost immediately after Powers burst onto the scene, Omaha Productions, the Peyton Manning-owned company that helped create Powers, was “flooded” with requests to create more content. One of the ideas pitched was to create a Ted Lasso-like show.

As it turns out, that’s exactly what’s going to happen.

Variety reports that streaming service Hulu has ordered a half-hour Chad Powers comedy series starring Glen Powell.

Hulu has ordered the half-hour comedy series “Chad Powers” from Glen Powell and Michael Waldron, Variety has learned.

Powell will star in the series in addition to co-creating and co-writing the pilot with Waldron, with both serving as executive producers. The show is based on the Chad Powers character created by Eli Manning for his EPSN+ docuseries “Eli’s Places.” Manning wanted to learn more about the walk-on process for college football, so he donned a wig and prosthetic makeup so he could go undercover during the Penn State football tryouts.

The official description for the series states, “When bad behavior nukes hotshot QB Russ Holliday’s (Powell) college career, he disguises himself and walks onto a struggling Southern football team as the talented, affable Chad Powers.”

Manning will not reprise his role as Powers (or in this case, Holliday) but is 100 percent behind the series.

“The love for Chad Powers has surprised me in spectacular ways,” said Manning. “I played 16 years in the NFL, but now when I’m in a restaurant or walking through an airport, it’s not uncommon for fans to scream, ‘Hey Chad!’ I’m so excited to team up with my friends Glen Powell, Michael Waldron and Omaha Productions to continue to tell the Chad Powers story and see what he does next.”

An estimated release date has not yet been revealed.

Russell Wilson ‘not stressed’ about Eli Manning’s punter joke

“You know, I’m 3-0 against Chad Powers,” Broncos QB Russell Wilson said in response to Eli Manning’s punter joke 😅

After Denver Broncos punter Corliss Waitman played a key role in a Sunday Night Football win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 3, former NFL quarterback Eli Manning cracked a joke at Russell Wilson’s expense.

“They should have paid that punter $235 million instead of Russell,” Eli joked during the “ManningCast” broadcast of Monday Night Football earlier this week.

Wilson was asked about Manning’s comment during his media availability on Wednesday and Denver’s quarterback had a perfect response.

“Are you talking about Chad Powers? Yeah, Chad Powers, you know — I’m 3-0 against Chad Powers,” Wilson said with a smile. “Listen, I think it’s a part of the game and those guys are having fun and everything else. I have a lot of respect for Peyton and Eli and those guys. Those guy — I’ve always looked up to those guys, so I’m not stressed about it.”

Wilson, of course, was referencing Eli’s “Chad Powers” character that tried out as a “walk-on” prospect at Penn State for an episode of Eli’s Places. The real Eli went 0-3 against Wilson as a quarterback in the NFL.

And just to be clear, Eli noted in follow-up comments that he meant no ill-will toward Wilson when he made the punter joke during MNF.

Peyton Manning gets in on the ‘Chad Powers’ fun during ‘ManningCast’

“[Chad] Powers throws it so much better than Eli Manning ever did,” Peyton Manning joked 😅

After an extremely successful launch of Peyton’s Places on ESPN+, Peyton Manning began creating additional shows for Disney’s streaming sports network, including Eli’s Places.

In a recent episode of Eli’s Places, Eli Manning disguises himself as “Chad Powers” for a walk-on tryout at Penn State. The footage from Manning’s tryout is pretty funny and it quickly went viral on social media.

Peyton jumped on the hype train during the “ManningCast” of Monday Night Football in Week 3, reporting to the show with a “Chad Powers” t-shirt.

Peyton also, of course, took advantage of an opportunity to poke fun at his brother.

“Eli, the funny thing that people didn’t get to see is that a couple of those Penn State coaches were actually saying they thought Powers looked like Eli Manning, but Powers throws it so much better than Eli Manning ever did,” Manning said during MNF. “That’s kind of what threw them off in my opinion.”

Report: Entertainment execs want to make a TV show based on Chad Powers

Eli Manning’s portrayal of 26-year-old QB “Chad Powers” may turn into more than a viral clip as Hollywood execs take significant interest.

Retired New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning went viral earlier this week for his portrayal of “Chad Powers,” a 26-year-old Penn State hopeful.

With the help of some Hollywood makeup artists, Manning transformed into Powers and attended a PSU walk-on tryout. The entire production was well done and undeniably hilarious.

But might more be on the horizon for Manning? Or more specifically, Chad Powers?

TMZ reports that Omaha Productions, the Peyton Manning-owned company that helped create Powers, has been “flooded” with requests to produce more Chad Powers content. Some even want to make a television series based on the character.

The clip has already been viewed millions of times across the internet … and our sources tell us Omaha Productions, owned by Peyton Manning, has been flooded by people in the entertainment industry who wish to work with Manning/Powers.

One of the ideas … a “Ted Lasso”-type show. Of course, Jason Sudeikis plays Lasso … an American football coach hired to manage an English soccer club.

Chad Powers merchandise has already hit the internet, so why not take things to the next level? Given the early reception to Powers, a television show or limited mini-series could very well be successful.

Think big, go big.

See it: Giants great Eli Manning becomes Chad Powers for PSU tryout

New York Giants legend Eli Manning went undercover as Chad Powers for a walk-on tryout at Penn State University.

Eli Manning certainly appears to be enjoying life in retirement. He, along with his brother Peyton, have carved out quite a role for themselves in the media industry.

The ManningCast has become a worldwide hit. And “Eli’s Places,” which is produced by Peyton’s Omaha Productions, is also gaining a ton of traction.

On Monday, “Eli’s Places” went viral thanks to Chad Powers, a 26-year-old quarterback who attended a walk-on tryout for Penn State University.

“I wanted to see if the coaches would be interested in me,” Manning told The New York Post. “Head coach James Franklin was in on it, but didn’t really tell any of the other coaches.

“By the end of it, he knew something was going on, just because of the way I looked, and how I was telling receivers what routes to run and how to run them — and I was talking some football lingo that I shouldn’t know, but knew coaches would know. I’m sure they’re not getting what ‘read’ many walk-ons are working on.”

Manning said there was no script and that he simply tried to say something outrageous each time he spoke. And that obviously worked to perfection.

Almost immediately, Chad Power was the No. 1 trend in America.

The full Chad Powers episode of “Eli’s Places” can be viewed on ESPN’s YouTube page. And it’s worth every single second of the investment.
