What a kickoff return from Ohio athlete Marvon Greenlee in a playoff game

Marvon Greenlee has a beautiful kickoff return for Central Catholic.

Marvon Greenlee knows that you never get a second chance to make a first impression. So that’s why he started Friday night’s playoff game in Ohio with a sensational kickoff return.

Greenlee, a senior defensive back for Central Catholic (Toledo, Ohio), started Friday night’s state semifinal game with an 89-yard return of the opening kickoff. It was the opening salvo of a 35-7 win by Central Catholic over Chardon (Chardon, Ohio).

This week, Greenlee was one of 13 Central Catholic players named to the All-Northwest District Division III squad. Greenlee was first-team as a defensive back.

His kickoff return certainly set the tone for Central Catholic. It was a stunning mix of athleticism and speed as he was barely touched on his way into the endzone.

Greenlee never broke his stride.

Greenlee has several offers including from Capital, Defiance and Wittenberg among others.

With the win, Central Catholic has now won 29 straight games. Their next game is against Bishop Watterson (Columbus, Ohio) in the Division III championship.

Watch: This is the angriest run you will see all weekend

Tyler Morgan had a really impressive run for Central Catholic on Friday night.

Tyler Morgan, a running back out of Ohio, runs as if the ground did something personal to him. He is an angry, angry running back.

A junior running back out of Central Catholic (Toledo, Ohio), Morgan produced an impressive touchdown run late in the first quarter of what would be a 41-6 win in the playoffs over Columbian. With the win, Central Catholic is now 14-0.

Morgan’s 34-yard touchdown run begins with him nearly being taken down in the backfield, but he manages to evade his way out of the situation and bounce outside to his right.

There he found space and used his speed to get into the open field.

And then at the 10-yard line, the announcers declare that Morgan is taken down, only for the running back to break through – “No they won’t!” as he then runs the final few yards untouched into the end zone.

It was a strong individual effort from Morgan to put Central Catholic up 14-6 at the time. He shrugged off four tackles for the touchdown run.

Unnoticed in all the buzz about his strength is that Morgan showed some glimpses of his 4.48 speed during this run.

Anthony Speca, 4-star Central Catholic linebacker commits to Penn State

Central Catholic (Pa.) linebacker Anthony Speca announces his commitment to Penn State.

Penn State is keeping one of the top linebacker prospects in Pennsylvannia in the state.

On Tuesday morning, Central Catholic (Pa.) four-star linebacker Anthony Speca announced his commitment to the Nittany Lions on his Twitter page.

Speca visited the school on Saturday. After announcing his decision, he told 247 Sports it felt like home and has everything that he’s looking for.

“I chose Penn State because it has everything I’m looking for… It’s got the academics, the staff, the culture, the players and it’s all in state. It felt right when I was there. It felt like home.”

It didn’t take Speca long to start recruiting other athletes for the Nittany Lions. Later in the day he shared a pitch for Belle Vernon (Pa.) five-star athlete Quinton Martin, who’s ranked the top overall recruit in the state and 25th nationally in his class.

As for Speca, (6-foot-2, 220 pounds) he is ranked No. 26 among linebackers in the 2024 cycle and No. 9 overall in the state. He chose Penn State over 17 other offers, including several other Big Ten programs like Ohio State, Wisconsin and Michigan and Michigan State.

He is Penn State’s second commitment for their 2024 class, which now ranks No. 21 in the nation. McDowell (Pa.) four-star offensive lineman Cooper Cousins is the other.

Prayers up for former Notre Dame opponent Damar Hamlin

We all need to come together for this man right now.

We at Fighting Irish Wire are incredibly concerned as Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin fights for his life in a Cincinnati hospital. Hamlin collapsed after making a tackle during the “Monday Night Football” game against the Bengals. After being administered CPR, he was taken away in an ambulance, and the game was postponed soon after. As of this writing, he is listed as being in critical condition.

Hamlin faced Notre Dame twice while at Pittsburgh. During those games, both won by the Irish, he recorded 14 tackles, deflected one pass and was credited with half a tackle for loss.

Hamlin also was a teammate of Houston Texans rookie and former Irish defensive lineman [autotag]Kurt Hinish[/autotag] at Central Catholic in Pittsburgh, and Hinish tweeted his prayers for a man he once played with:

Everyone send the best vibes and prayers that you possibly can to Hamlin. He needs all of them right now. Let’s hope we have some good news very soon.

No. 22 St. Joseph’s Prep advances to championship with Marvin Harrison Jr. last-gasp touchdown

Ohio State football commit Marvin Harrison Jr.’s fourth-down touchdown helped St. Joseph’s Prep send the semifinals game to overtime and eventually win.

No. 22 St. Joseph’s Prep (Philadelphia) had its back against the wall.

It was fourth-and-10 from the 12-yard line, trailing by a touchdown, with less than 30 seconds left in the game. Quarterback Kyle McCord was out again due to injury.

All Central Catholic (Pittsburgh) had to do was make one more stop.

Unfortunately for the Vikings, Marvin Harrison Jr. is not easy to stop.

Quarterback Malik Cooper found Harrison in the very back of the end zone, and the four-star wide receiver made a leaping grab to haul it in. One PAT later, the score was tied at 24 and it was on to overtime.

Another angle:

The Hawks made quick work of Central Catholic in overtime, as Cooper ran for a touchdown and then Keenan Nelson Jr. intercepted a Vikings pass to secure the 31-24 win.

Harrison, an Ohio State commit, continued to be the go-to at important moments throughout the game. In the first half, Harrison had a 46-yard catch on third-and-18, according to Trib Live reporter Chris Harlan. That helped set up a field goal.

On that final Hawks drive of regulation, a sack backed the offense up to a second-and-21 at midfield with just over a minute left, Harrison hauled in a 17-yard reception to put them in position to convert the third down.

Then, of course, he caught the touchdown, his seventh reception of the game for 124 yards.

McCord has now missed three weeks due to a knee injury, according to TribLive. Cooper — a wide receiver by trade — has filled in admirably in his stead.

There’s one more week to see if McCord can get back. St. Joseph’s Prep plays against Central Dauphin (Harrisburg, Pennsylvania) for the championship Saturday night.

If he can’t, Cooper knows plenty well that he can rely on Harrison.

MATCHUP

No. 7 Katy (Texas) (12-0)

vs.

No. 13 North Shore (Houston, Texas) (11-1)

When: 11/29, 5 p.m. ET

Tale of the Tape: The North Shore Mustangs started the season at the No. 2 spot in the Super 25. They dropped their first game of the season, a 24-21 loss to Katy. It was revenge from the Tigers, who fell to North Shore in the playoffs last year, a 49-38 game. Now, while this is just the regionals of the six-round Texas playoffs, this could be the best game of the entire gauntlet. If running back Ron Hoff is unable to go for Katy, the Tigers will have to find production from its running back position to counter North Shore’s Zach Evans. Maybe Jalen Davis can pick up where he left off last week – a 30 carry, 219-yard, two-touchdown performance.

MATCHUP

No. 18 Southlake Carroll (Texas) (11-0)

vs.

DeSoto (Texas) (9-2)

When: 11/22, 6:30 p.m. ET

Tale of the Tape: DeSoto may have been beaten twice this year, but both of those losses were one-point games. This team is just a couple breaks away from being undefeated. Southlake Carroll, though, is undefeated; the closest game was a 12-point win, and last week, the Dragons won by 78 points. They have been unstoppable behind sophomore quarterback Quinn Ewers and freshman running back Owen Allen. It will take a big performance from some DeSoto player to keep up: maybe cornerback Jabbar Muhammad or Devyn Bobby, or perhaps an offensive weapon like leading wide receiver Lawrence Arnold. More likely, it’ll take a big performance from several Eagles.
