Marathon defender wrecks two players at once with insane tackle

Andre Orellana at least got his money’s worth

Andre Orellana at least got his money’s worth.

The CD Marathón defender was sent off late in Sunday’s Honduras league defeat to Olimpia, as his flying karate kick took out not one, but two players from his team’s rivals.

Just minutes after Kevin López scored what would prove to be the game’s only goal, Orellana charged at two Olimpia players and flew high off the ground, dangerously exposing his studs before clearing out both Carlos Pineda and German Mejia.

The announcers were clearly horrified. The referee could hardly pull his red card out fast enough.

Orellana, who ironically enough is on loan at Marathón from Olimpia, apologized for his tackle after the game.

“The truth is I was wrong and I apologize to everyone, you are human and you learn from mistakes,” he told DIEZ.

“I think it was a play where the momentum and courage for the game overcame me, it is not correct at all.

“[Olimpia midfielder] Germán Mejía told me that it was OK, that he loves me and that it was part of the game. He said I should not lose my DNA and that I should continue working, that I have a lot to continue growing.”

He added: “This is part of football, all that remains for me is to correct and know how to control each impulse. I have to know how to have a balance. I tell you that this will not happen again.”
